This week we take a look at the current Ebola Virus outbreak occurring in Uganda. While currently still relatively small in size, this outbreak has been identified as involving the Sudan strain of Ebola, which currently does not have an approved vaccine nor pharmaceuticals to treat. This week, we discuss the Port of Beirut explosion that is the larges non-nuclear blast we have experienced in the modern world. This explosion, while still under investigation is believed to have been more violent due to the ammonium nitrate being stored in a decrepit warehouse.... next to fireworks. Yes, you read that correctly. This explosion would consume the lives of 218, injure 7,000, leave hundreds of thousands homeless, and cause over $15 billion USD in damage.

The 1964 "Good Friday" earthquake would shake, destroy, and level cities and towns for nearly five minutes, leaving little in its wake. Following the shaking, tsunamis further devastated areas on the coast and took with it, hundreds of lives.

This week, we are discussing the catastrophic impact of Hurricane Agnes during the 1972 hurricane season. While her formation wasn't particularly notable, her impacts that stretched from Florida to Canada led to the retirement of the name "Agnes" following the season. In total, nearly 130 deaths would be recorded and over $15 billion in property damage would occur.
