In this episode we take you on a twisted journey of a man who went into the depths of hell, and never came back.  Christopher Jordan Dorner, had a promising career ahead of him, college graduate, naval officer, and everything in his future pointed towards the stars...then a darkness settled over him he was not able to shake.   The journey he went on was one of internal deception, and tragic loss of connection to the world around him. 
The story of Dorner really unfolded live on the news in 2013, maybe you are familiar with this tragic story.  Join us, as we dive into the darkness, to unravel this story, of unmitigated circumstances, lies, and murder, as Dorner launches on a murderous rampage in this true to life old west manhunt, that unfolded on live TV.  Beginning with the murder of his attorney, and mailing his 11,000 word manifesto to Anderson Cooper of CNN...

We head to NYPD, in the 60s and 70s and take a journey into the underworld of 2 detectives who became men of the mob.  Stephen Caracappa and Louis Eppolito, 2 detectives for the NYPD who would leave a trail of tears and bodies behind them.  Both men lead a lengthy career for the NYPD, moved up through the ranks to earn their detective badges, eventually leading the departments organized crime unit.  Yup, you heard that correctly, they both at some point ran the organized crime unit, and were also detectives within that unit.  Both considered to be seasoned detectives for the NYPD, with strong reputations with the department...until the FBI brought them down.  
Grab your suit and tie, a bourbon, a stogie, and take a seat as we take you deep into the corrupt world of the mafia cops...if you want to watch the movie Good Fellas, maybe you will spot one of these fellas somewhere in the movie.  This is a crazy story of NYPD Detectives turned mafia hitmen...yup, they dabbled in that as well, then wrote a book.

So, there you are, watching the evening news and and a story breaks across the headlines, a police officer was involved in a shooting.  Could be your local news, or an international news story breaking the headlines, maybe riots have erupted, so many different outcomes. 

Let us get one thing straight here at DetectiverySOM, when a police officer shoots someone, whether justified, unjustified, cleared of wrong doing, or whatever the case may be...no one wins.  I don't know of any police officer out there who strolls into work, thinking, gee, I hope I get to shoot someone today...far from it.  The family of the person who was shot suffers immeasurable loss.  Most police officers who survive such an encounter, have morality issues, question their decision making process, have psychological issues, nightmares, substance abuse, religious implications, termination, and in a majority of cases, never return to work.  Some police officers become suicidal after their involvement in an officer involved shooting.   

This was a difficult topic to cover, we did it in our DetectiverySOM fashion, we dive into many different facets surrounding a police officers involvement in a shooting.  We discuss the topic from multiple angles, from training paradigms, mental mindsets, work environments, procedural processes, cover the fear factor, and much more.

Bigfoot, the story of the giant creature who has stalked the woods, fascinated our minds, and invaded our nightmares for decades.  We take a dive into the fascinating world of Bigfoot, and the many stories that surround this fabled creature.  We answer the question, is Bigfoot a serial killer...we have the tall task of taking this topic on, and it gets a bit harry.  You say, Bigfoot can't be a serial killer, because that requires Bigfoot to be human...has anyone captured a Bigfoot...nope...so how do we know it is not a humanoid creature who prays on the unsuspecting backpacker. 

Ahh, it's all just speculation, forethought, a bit of research and dangerous amount of reckless knowledge.  We take a look at how a Bigfoot murder scene might unfold if you happen to be working as a police officer and stumble into one...yup, it will probably be 10 minutes before your shift ends...it always is.
