  • 09 METALLICA with Ken Lawson
Our Metallica episode is finally here! And to celebrate, we brought aboard our good pal and old-school metalhead, Ken Lawson! Not only do the three of us talk pretty much Metallica's entire discography, we also make a plethora of bizarre allusions to other bands, including but not limited to: Gary Glitter, The Postal Service, Blink-182, Chris Isaac, and the Misfits! We also talk about that time Metallica should have broken up, vans with barbarian ladies air-brushed on the side, Bob Rock's silky-soft hair, creatures with wah-wah pedal voices, and how 'Lulu' is the clamato juice of records. Between the heaps of praise for 'Ride The Lightning' and major disses for 'St. Anger', we find the time to dish out a couple linguini high-fives and get real about Napster. All this, and Ken gets a charley horse! It's the Metallica show! (The producers of this podcast do not endorse the placement of metal into any bodily orifice.)

  • 08 Stoner/Sludge with Amy Shostak
On this very special episode, we welcome our very special and first-ever guest, Amy Shostak! Amy is comedy jewel and metal wizard, and leads the lads down the hazy path of Stoner and Sludge metal! In this episode we: Roll up some jazz cabbage and talk about Weedeater's cool carny vocals; Blaze some Devil's lettuce and talk about how Sleep makes you want to put out burning pillows with wet blankets; Puff on a left-handed cigarette and talk about the Melvins creating a visceral, two-drummer-induced dreamlike state; Dole out some dank-ass nugs and talk about how Kylesa's worth a road trip to Georgia; AND become total weed-heads talking about Mastodon leggings and how much the book Moby Dick totally, totally sucks. Plus we discuss Fraz's famous Napalm Death hoodie, Devin's famous Maui shirt, and answer Twitter questions! It's the Stoner/Sludge episode! Congrats, Julian!

  • 07 SLIPKNOT
In an especially silly - even for us - and surprisingly touching episode of Devin and Hell, the lads discuss a very popular and polarizing act; Slipknot! We run down the band's entire discography, as well as partake in some big-time mask talk (which members' masks need daily uncorking, anyway?), pitch a Slipknot cartoon, and discuss how the band was the exact metal gateway drug the early-00's needed. Fraz celebrates Devin's tastes getting heavier, and finds the time to have a complete breakdown and make up a few words again. All this, and Devin gets a parcel delivered! So fun! Liberate your bananas and get in here!

  • 06 Grindcore
You know damn well that any podcast about grindcore that starts off with a discussion about Olympic male figure skaters has got to be good. In this episode, we talk Napalm Death (of course), Cattle Decapitation, Nasum, Pig Destroyer and Fuck The Facts (amongst others)! We also try to pronounce 'anthropocene', watch a video of a cow taking a dump on a guy's head, and make references to Launchpad McQuack AND Roch Voisine - all in one show!! More uncomfortable than falling asleep on pile of lock boxes, more terrifying than Kelowna: Land of the Stilt-Walkers, it's the grindcore episode! (Spoiler: the drums are fast.)
    Homework from Hell:
Ep 7 - Slipknot - Slipknot (1999), Iowa (2001), Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses) (2004), All Hope Is Gone (2008), 5: The Gray Chapter (2014)

  • 05 SLAYER
The all-Slayer episode is finally here, and we are jacked!!! At long last, Fraz gets to introduce Devin to such classic albums as Reign In Blood (we DID just say classic), Seasons In The Abyss, Undisputed Attitude, South Of Heaven, Christ Illusion, and more!! We also talk about which kind of covers album Slayer should tackle next, metal bands consisting solely of Disney villains, and how, at the end of the day, Slayer is as beautiful as nature. Also, Devin gets Fraz into Mclusky, we define the term 'break-neck', and invent the term 'over-orcing'. All of this PLUS discussion on Devin and Fraz's two favourite things on the internet; youtube comments and fail videos! It's our best episode yet, especially considering that God hates us all. Hail Slayer!
    Homework from Hell:
    Ep 6 - Grindcore
    Cattle Decapitation - Karma.Bloody.Karma (2006), The Anthropocene Extinction (2015)
Pig Destroyer - Phantom Limb (2007)
Napalm Death - Scum (1987), Enemy Of The Music Business (2000), Apex Predator - Easy Meat (2015)

  • 04 Old School Death Metal
It's our first ever tech problems-free show, and we couldn't be more excited! In this episode, Devin gets schooled in and terrified by the ways of old-school death metal! We talk Entombed, Cannibal Corpse, At The Gates, Death, Carcass, and so much more! We come up with some sweet ideas for Cannibal Corpse merch (don't steal them), and wonder which death metal band is the richest (monetarily, not in grotesque imagery; that would really be splitting hairs). Plus Devin does his best impression of an owl laughing, and Fraz dishes out a gold star (or is it a pentagram?)! EPIC.
    Homework from Hell:
Ep 5 - Slayer  - Reign In Blood (1986), South Of Heaven (1988), Seasons In The Abyss (1990), Undisputed Attitude (1996), Christ Illusion (2006)

  • 03 IRON MAIDEN
On a very special Devin & Hell, we take an in-depth look at one of Fraz's favourite bands; Iron Maiden! Devin is introduced to such classic records as Killers, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Fear of the Dark, Brave New World, Number of the Beast (duh), and more! We also talk about metal band mascots, and how Maiden's mascot Eddie most likely talks like Robert Shaw's character from Jaws. We discuss sternum apples, steam-powered tattoo guns, and more Fleetwood Mac than you'd expect on a show about Iron Maiden. Devin even teaches Fraz a thing or two about the awesomeness of this band. We recommend you listen in a yellow, padded room!
Homework from Hell: Ep 4 - Old School Death:
Cannibal Corpse - Eaten Back To Life (1990), Gore Obsessed (2002), Kill (2006).
Entombed - Left Hand Path (1990), Clandestine (1991), Wolverine Blues (1993), Carcass,  Heartwork (1993)
At The Gates - Slaughter Of The Soul (1995),
Death - Leprosy (1988), Human (1991), The Sound Of Perseverance (1998)

  • 02 Black Metal
It's our first, full-length, proper episode and we hit the ground running (from the shadows of our nightmares)! Fraz revels in the fact that Gorgoroth's 'Under The Sign Of Hell' is Devin's initial exposure to metal! We also talk about Immortal, Behemoth, Inquisition, Watain and some other classic black metal acts, and invent some sweet metal jargon along the way, including but not limited to: 'triple-kicking', 'fast sweeps', 'founding forebearers', and the mythological 'metal trance'. Creepier than an old gypsy lady emerging from a crypt! More inane than a youtube comments section! Welcome to your new favourite 60-minute nightmare! Ep 3 - Iron Maiden - Killers (1981), Number Of The Beast (1982), Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son (1988), Fear Of The Dark (1992), Brave New World (2000)

  • 01 Welcome to Hell
In this very special deview (debut/preview) episode of Devin & Hell, Fraz and Devin give their TOTALLY BRUTAL mission statement, discuss 'v-neck guitars' and 'precious metal', do some metal myth-busting, and go over some sweet, sweet metal tropes including, but not limited to; feathered hair, snakes, boiling flesh and buying bread in Scandinavia. They also talk about how the next episode probably definitely won't give Devin nightmares, maybe. Download if you dare! Devin & Hell awaits…
