The spiritual, cultural and historical significance of the sacred site of Puvungna has been held by the Tongva, Acjachemen and other Southern California tribes for thousands of years. Puvungna Village, a 22-acre site on the Cal State Long Beach campus, has long been the source of a push and pull battle between the university and local Native communities for decades.
