Crime historian Paul Maccabee spent 12 years researching his book, “John Dillinger Slept Here: A Crooks Tour of Crime and Corruption in St. Paul” – based on tens of thousands of FBI files released to him under the Freedom of Information Act and interviews with more than 200 police officers, gun molls, retired FBI agents and family members of Public Enemies-era gangsters.
