What do “The Economist” and Denmark have in common? They both declared ChatGPT as the word of the year for 2023. When technology takes the top spot on the word of the year podium, especially in the homeland of one of the Digitalization Tech Talks co-hosts, and when we meet an end user in the process industries that is implementing generative AI today, it’s time for an episode on it!
Generative AI has been on the short list of potential future episodes during most of 2023. This episode includes a conversation about how this ongoing effort is going. Our guest is Mike Dessauer, a Data Science Manager, who also happens to be the Industry 4.0 track chair for the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Spring Meeting.
In our conversation we discuss:
The use case and primary reasons for exploring generative AI development
Data privacy, security, and ethical considerations
The primary technical challenges
User feedback, measuring success, and estimating the value of generative AI for a large organization
Next steps
Join our series hosts, Jonas Norinder and Don Mack, for an informative chat about generative AI all packaged into a diminutive 14 minutes!

When Evonik decided to build a brand-new chemical plant on the Gulf Coast, they were tasked with utilizing the latest and greatest in technology to make the plant more efficient, more reliable, and safer than ever. One of the key technologies that was selected to help achieve these goals was an Operator Training Systems (OTS).
As you will hear from our guest, Tony Lee, Senior Process Control Engineer, Evonik identified several benefits of implementing the OTS - not only in the design and engineering phases but also once the plant goes live.
Join our two hosts, Don Mack and Jonas Norinder, to learn more about how OTS technology is being applied in an actual application.

Episode 34 is all about data. How you capture it, how you optimize it, and how you clean it so that you can make use of it across an entire organization and not just a single group or department. And why is this important?
According to our guest, Mads Torry-Smith from Novozymes they are “investing in making a step change in the data capture culture to break down data silos between functions. The ultimate goal is to enable better learning loops and unlock faster innovation timelines”.
This is no small feat! As you will learn, however, Novozymes has taken several steps in making this a reality and not surprisingly, digital technologies play an important role.
