Why can there not be just love and no hate?
Why is frustration everybody’s fate?
Why is there a clamour for money?
Why is there a desire for more?
Why are there these jealousies?
Why don’t all of this we outgrow?
Why the bitterness? Why the sarcasm?
Why the violence? Why the schism?
Why an eye on another’s green?
And wish all this is only our scene?
Why can we not be happy and content?
Why are we often sore and disgruntled?
Why not be happy at others success?
And bring out the goodness we do possess
Why cannot everyone live in peace?
And let not malice have its feast.
Why not be in love and live in harmony?
And listen to His wonderful symphony?
We breathe the same air
We live on Mother Earth
Then why for each other we do not care?
And why of love there is so much dearth?
We all have to go...where? No one can find
So why not leave some goodness behind?
Leave all the violence, shed all the hatred
Love your fellowmen, have not their trust betrayed
When love and peace will prevail
And magnanimity survives
That is when truth we will hail
That is when brotherhood will thrive.
Work for this goal we all should
To the occasion we all should rise
And if all these things we could and would
This world becomes a paradise.
There comes a time in each one’s life
When everything seems to go wrong
An innocent touch to a gold object
Would simply turn it bronze.
Does it happen to everyone
Or is it to the unlucky few
That from the sky the fresh dew drops
Becomes the curse from the blue.
This depressing period engulfs you
As a lowest ebb in life
When you are thought of wrongly
Even by your husband or wife.
Supernatural courage is what you need
To stand against all odds
Extra confidence you will have to feed
To brave out from these sorts.
You do not know who is with you
You do not know what this is for
All you know is something will brew
To hurt the wounds still raw.
All was well a while ago
Everything just hunky-dory
Then how this misery could simply grow
Is it from love, money, power or glory?
Everyone seems against you
Or is it just state of mind
It shakes confidence within you
Is something suddenly wrong with world
Or is it simply you.
I surrender – I give up
I shudder to think
If we would drown in a pool of depression
The waves of the sea engulfing us
Welcoming us wickedly in their arms.
Now we must not succumb
To this conniving and conspiring ocean
This is a test of our endurance
A test from God Almighty
He puts to test his chosen few
To see the extent of faith in Him
The heat of the fire in which we burn
Will bring out the shine on our faces again.
When an event is done and through
Comments to flow is nothing new
Different perceptions and different view
Interesting to read even a few.
There are some who appreciate genuinely
The warmth in their words is felt instantly.
Others compliment very superficially
Perhaps not even seen event completely
They feel it had to be written then
The two little words “Well Done”.
Then there are well-wishers who critically advise
They are often well in line
You know too that they want
The best for you each time.
Others are critical as it is in their innate nature to criticize
To look for faults and then highlight.
We have to TOLERATE the views they had
We have to ACCEPT the good with the bad
We have to RESPECT their opinions and let them thrive
For TOLERANCE, ACCEPTANCE AND RESPECT to survive.
When you fight for your right
From your very own
Do you still have the might
To stand up and for their misdeeds condone.
Victory against them is all bitter and sweet
As in our victory is also our own defeat
Money today is pitted against true love
Greed and power take the seat much above.
Pounds and Pennies are what they count
Love and relationships are of no account.
You are happy or sad you cannot choose
To win from them you still lose
In the victory is the hidden defeat
For winning against your own
Is not very sweet.
The jubiliation of the victory
Is never wholehearted
Because in the fury
With what we have parted.
Lost so much with little choice
Leaves us no room to rejoice
Sad that relationships now become sour
But things like these are not often in our power.
Justice in the end must prevail
Truth therefore we will have to hail.
Two lonely eyes haunt me
The noise of the gun deafens me
The smell of fire nauseates me
Waves of the sea will engulf me.
I am afraid –
Afraid to live in this sinister world
Afraid of people killing one another
Senseless killings for an unknown cause
Unknown for they know not what they think they do.
They think they are doing it for a cause
But in fact undoing their very own cause
The essence of good being is to love and respect all
Then why uproot the basis – only to tumble and fall.
God is one almighty – despite His varied names and shrines
They cannot confine Him to any one kind
With love and understanding cannot all bind?
For all of these are roads with the same end in mind.
A house of worship should be sacred and stand tall
Then why this insanity for a place for all
God have mercy and make them see sense
For they know not their religion’s true essence.
Like lost children they have forgotten the right track
Please lead kindly light – to bring them together and back.
When per chance we meet a friend
From our youthful college days
A flood of memories rush back to us
Of our innocent yet naughty ways.
We re-live the period within ourselves
Radiate the happiness of the times
A thousand current of an electrifying touch
The blushing looks, the mysterious smiles.
The canteen, the library, the books and classrooms
This was the world we lived in then
Simple college socials were the greatest events
Even our little experiences we would sit down to pen.
How sweet and innocent life was my friend
A matter of fact now, what was excitement then
This period in life is ever so short
It flies away never to be caught.
Amazing how life has its twists and turns
In one such turn we may find the same friends again
But different so different they seem now
They have bloomed we have blossomed.
They are still so good, beautiful and successful
But yet so different in a different world
We care for each other yet we have grown apart.
I was thinking about how to tell you
Life is too short to sit and brood
Or let important words left unspoken too.
Your forever friend gets you through the hard time
Holds your hand and tells you everything will be fine
If you find such a friend happy you will be
I have found that friend in you and hope you find that in me.
I am so lucky to have you in my life
You accept me at my worst
And make me
Feel amazing at my best.
I couldn’t imagine life without you
I am a better person when with you
I can count on you and trust
To be there when I need you most.
Your laughter is contagious and with all the grace
You light up the atmosphere at any place.
When I am sad and I cry
You put your arms around to make me smile you try
I know there are struggles in your life too
Remember life is tough and so are you.
Please do not let anyone get you down
As you are amazing – if anyone says otherwise
They are wrong
Just know when you are sad
And I am not near
Dear God will wipe away
Your every tear.
I cannot find words so strong to express
What you always meant to me since long.
Thank you deeply for your love and kindness
And giving me so much happiness.
We need a best friend in difficult and complicated times
I will always be there for you
Whilst you give me hope and strength
Even if and when far apart
You will always be in my heart.
I love and pray again
That our relationship always remains the same
Will forever love you my friend
And forever has no end.
Human beings today are complex creatures
Artificial and superficial ways are the main features
A kiss on the cheek, a cold handshake
This is all, no more can they take.
‘‘How are you? From where do you come?’’
More than that they are struck dumb
A polite conversation here and there
After a while look elsewhere.
Dressed in all the glitter and glamour
Who do they think they can enamour
‘‘A smart outfit, beautiful jewellery
You almost look like a fairy!’’
Turn your back the other way
Snide remarks start their day
Compliments have no meaning
Greetings are shallow
Lives are becoming empty and hollow.
Bank balance is now all important
Beauty of the soul is long forgotten
What is your standing, how much you weigh
According to that they slot you today.
Why can we not be more genuine and pure
Why do we forget this is our temporary tenure
Relationships can be warm and caring
Deep understanding and lots of sharing.
Sharing the joys and the gains
Sharing the sorrows and the pains
In this world of today, sincerity needs a great part to play
If we could sincerely share our grief and sorrow
We could help to build a more creative tomorrow.
Missing you Mom
Missing you Pop
Sure from Heaven
Some blessings you will drop.
Your voices of blessings
Keep ringing in my ears
You are not far ‘cause I can hear.
Today all your peers are no more
Makes me feel very low
Long for that hug and that special kiss
Your hand on my head and it was bliss.
Do show me today you are thinking of me
And I will be as happy as can be
Will be waiting today for your
Love to shower on me
Miracles will happen and I
Will see!!!
You hardly give, when material things is what you give
When you give of yourself, is when you actually give.
There are some that give a minuscule
Of the wealth they amass
Their gifts are unwholesome
As for recognition is what they ask.
There are others who have very little
And they give it all
They are the believers in life
Their wealth will never fall.
There are some who give with joy
That joy is their reward
Others give with pain
Their gift is of no accord.
It is so good to give when asked
Even better giving unasked
For why refrain when the season is ours
Spread the wealth of giving like the fragrance of flowers.
Who are the deserving, how can we judge?
Does the tree in our garden, differentiate its shade as such?
How do we pose as “givers”?
We are not even a drop in the rivers.
Blessed are the ones through whom God gives
Chosen are they and through them He lives
On our false egos and pride we just try and thrive
It is but life that gives unto life.
