Why Do You Want It? And Other Important Questions To Ask Yourself
What do you want? When you speak the truth about your desires, as risky as it feels to name them, it’s a perfect place to begin … because you’ll immediately see what you need to do to get them. And what it is that always leaps up to stop you ...
Why do you want it? Your true why is sneaky and hidden by your beliefs about why you shouldn’t want what you want.

In honor of Mother’s Day, we’re talking about being a mother — or not being a mother, but still mothering, nurturing others, ourselves, bringing projects to life — but always doing it our way, according to our own inner standards, with the audacity to unapologetically tell our version of the truth about it all.
We touch on abortion, on rules surrounding motherhood, our own fantasies about motherhood, accessing the Mother Archetype, and living as more than just the roles that we play in our lives.
Is sacrifice the only way to do motherhood? I boldly say, No way. How can we take ourselves into account as well?
And, yes, in the original radio show I played “Crucify” by Tori Amos after this particular rant.

There's a social taboo against celebrating your wins and today we break free!
Because once you start celebrating, you're basically re-setting yourself to feel good all the time. And why not??
We'll break rules that are unique to you that are stopping you from celebrating your wins, like my own father's taboo against pop music.
We'll look at wins, big and small, with zero shame, and open up to Radical Celebration — and how to re-wire yourself for this high-level act of interruption of old patterns that keep us stuck, small, and in a culturally sanctioned low-level cloud of despair.
But, no more! As of today we're shaking our brain, that lazy organ, out of its miserable feeling ruts, and into a future filled with pure feeling good.
And, using the top five regrets of the dying as a springboard to do what we need to now, to not feel regrets then. As in, when we're dying ...
And, since this was originally a music-heavy radio show, I mention a lot of songs and am including my fab playlist below.
Maia's Radical Celebration Pop Playlist:
Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go Wham! (who else loves that they had an exclamation point in their name??)

I'm Still Standing Elton John
Age of Aquarius The 5th Dimension
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Cyndi Lauper
Ptak Ohnivak Lucie Vondrickova
Get Into the Groove Madonna
Blazing Your Own Trail Again REO Speedwagon

True Blue Madonna

Soul Psychology by David Joshua Stone
The War of Art by Steven Pressfield
The Top 5 Regrets of the Dying by Bronnie Ware

It's happened to you ... and you probably tried to hide it! You make a plan to get in shape, make more money, try public speaking, have a baby, ask someone out ... and suddenly you find yourself in the biggest mess of your life, feeling like an idiot and hoping no one finds out.
But what if that mess is a sign that you're finally living full-out? That you're finally doing your life right??
That's exactly what we're taking on in today's Dirt Road.

Can you even believe it's been a year since lockdown first started? Has this year been hard and you're trying to make sense of it? Or, has this past year been excellent, and you feel a strange survivor's guilt because of it?
How do we make sense of what's going on in the world right now?
Are we really allowed to create our own meaning? (Yes.)
And how can we complete this year, not leave things dangling, but start to experience a completion energy with 2020?

Living according to the rules, but you’re not totally stoked about your life? Maybe it’s time to tune into your inner compass and get some new direction.
Today we're also talking about figuring out your spiritual belief system, and how to create one that actually works for you (years of obsessively looking into this, have led me to some very cool conclusions that I share with you today).
And is it possible to steer your breakdown into a breakthrough?? Why, yes, it is! We don't linger on breakdowns today, as I'm sure you're clear on what those are, but we look at the art of overcoming, and standing up for your true self out in the world.
Note: Again, these podcasts are being released in an intuitively random order, not as they were originally aired on the radio. So, the Sydney Campos podcast and the Jenna Vincent podcast, mentioned in this podcast, are coming out this spring! And this is a pre-Covid episode, but, as always, what we talk about on the show, can definitely be applied to whatever you’re going through right now.
Songs I mention without playing:
“Blazin’ Your Own Trail Again”, REO Speedwagon
“Lord Give Me A Sign”, DTX
“The Fruitful Darkness", Trevor Hall
Also, I mention my program Phoenix Rising, which is now available as a self-study course online here. It’s 8 modules designed to help you burn off the old versions of yourself, old bad habits, old negative thinking, and to get back in touch with your true self, calling in a new vision for your life from that awesome foundation.
Listening to your intuition (aka inner compass) is in Module 6: Intuition 101: Meeting the Guide to Your Best Life and Module 5: Your Soul Gifts & Unique Genius (Yes, You Have Them), which is what we talk about extensively in this episode of the podcast.
“Being of service is premature when you don’t know what service you’re meant to render to the world.” ~Maia Wilde

Why are we so judgmental about the messiness of our lives? Why do we try to showcase only the highlight reel & worry that we won't look good otherwise? How can we relax our grip on wanting life to go a certain way?
Is there a way to be artful in our approach to life instead, and not force a certain experience?
There's a perfectionistic attitude we have, culturally, about our worth, or our level of adulthood or professionalism, based on how neatly wrapped up things look on the outside, that's dangerous.
Because if we're trying to always live up to some impossible ideal, hiding our messiness, trying to do it "right", we're locked into a formula that does not work. And it winds up punishing us for being human.
So, here are some thoughts on chilling out a bit, throwing some reality on your life, and generally cutting yourself a break. While also living full-out, of course.

So, what's your MO? What's your default setting relationship to this improvisation we call life?
Do you have habitual ways of reacting that you fall back into when you're dealing with other people? Health? Money? Adventure? Friendships? Creativity?
And how's it working out for you?
Today we're taking on the places you keep running up against the same old walls, where your modus operandi is working for you ... and, ugh, but let's be honest ... where it's not.
