  • real talk about refreshing yourself & your life (and when it's kind of a myth)

Happy New Year 2021! I love the idea of a good reset, a clean slate, a fresh start, all that sexy sounding stuff. But this New Year has felt a bit glitchy to me, and not only me, but also the world ... Covid's still going on, there was that crazy break-in of the Capitol building, and then a presidential inauguration. Not a small amount of "messy in the middle" happening.

Now, if you're having a smooth entry into 2021, and I know some people are, that's awesome!

But, of course, as with all things human, there will come a moment where you're going to find yourself wishing away the mess, dreaming of a refresh, and wondering why it's so elusive.

So in this episode we speak to that moment, contemplate what's myth and what's truth, and, as always, talk about how to find your own unique way to do life.

To find out more about Maia, her programs, and how to connect what we talk about on the show to your own life, go to maiawilde.com.

  • stop endlessly striving & start arriving!

We're a culture of people raised to go and get it! To constantly strive, to seek, to yearn, to hope for things. We're workers and dreamers. We're not a culture devoted to the concept — or experience — of arriving.

But, Christmas — and this applies whether you celebrate it or not — is all about the energy of arriving.

We call the birth of a new baby an "arrival".  We celebrate the hell out of it. You and I were once that celebrated arrival ... then we got on the hamster wheel we call life.

So, how to strive & seek and make things happen, while also allowing ourselves to submerge in the powerful energy of arrival? That's what today's conversation is all about.

    Merry Christmas 2020!

  • permission to do life your way & be a beginner

We all spent too many years asking for hall passes to use the bathroom and now we're programmed to wait for somebody to tell us we're allowed to do our thing. Say our thing. Be ourselves. So we're talking about permission today.

And we're not talking about "permissiveness", we've got plenty of that in our society. Weird, isn't it, that we're not allowed to be ourselves, but we can over-eat/over-drink/binge watch Netflix, and somehow that's cool?

So, let's talk about it and get straight with ourselves. Permission to meet yourself where you are. Permission to be a beginner. Permission to make mistakes. Permission to be you.

  • self-care is soul-care!

What does your soul need to feel cared for? What does your body need to feel rested and energized and vitally alive? And why does any of this matter? Well, if you’re interested in hearing the quiet voice inside, or in tuning into your inner compass, and finally trusting yourself, self-care is key. It’s too easily dismissed as something “extra”, as superficial fluff, but self-care is truly soul-care, and essential for keeping ourselves nourished and on our life’s path.

So, no matter where on the political spectrum you fall, here's your Election 2020 Sanity Tool Kit!

We talk about the steps to take to make sure you're in charge of your sanity :

    Exposure
    Mastery
    Belief

And the big question you want to always be asking yourself:

Who do I want to be?

We'll also check in with what some spiritual experts have to say about politics, and hear points of view about world affairs from Eckhart Tolle, Ainsley McLeod, Craig Hamilton, Mother Theresa, and Deepak Chopra.

We also look at the five stages of grieving, according to Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, which are Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance (Hint: We wanna aim hard for acceptance and get there ASAP)

And the article I quoted statistics from is from Voice of America, "2020 Presidential Election is Stressing Americans Out", by Dora Mekouar, which you can read here.
