I love listening to audio books and have really enjoyed the Main Street Series. This one is my least favorite of the previous. I still love the characters but this installment moved a bit slow. I love the way the author makes all the characters not just the main girls have a back story and include the adults in real life situations. I'm very anxious for Books 6-10 to become audio available. I work full-time and have a family and audio books are the only way for me to enjoy a good book. P.S. Book 3, Tis the Season is the best of Main street so far.

Great audio for children AND adults!!

This audio book is great for both children and adults who speak French and English. I had forgotten many of these "Sunday school songs" but they came flooding back to my mind when I heard them here. The only thing that I wish this audio had was a printed copy of the lyrics so I could learn them faster to teach my kids. Totally worth the money!

Lara's Story

My daughters and I read all four books of the Lara series and my girls couldn't wait to learn what happened next. My daughters are 8 and 11 and we would read 2-3 chapters before going to bed each night and it sure made bedtime a pleasant experience. We have read several other books by the same author and have not been disappointed. The toughest part of this series was pronouncing the Irish words, but we worked through it. You will not be disappointed with these books.

Very Good For Broad Age Group

I loved this series and will love reading it to my grandkids. Really appreciate that although it's a series, each book is good as a stand-alone, with an ending you can live with. (Some series leave you hanging, I prefer each one to have its own ending, but the next and subsequent books to fit in with the earlier ones, with same characters, etc) Very nice level for 10 -14yr olds, a difficult age group to entertain.....and I truly enjoyed reading them & I have grand children....

Truly marvelous, just the way I like books to be. I love fantasy and adventure, the series gave that to me. In terms of delivery... Beyond excellent. I=The book was suppose to arrive from Dec. 16 - Dec. 26, and it arrived December 14!!!!! 14!!!! I was so happy. Definitely would buy again from this seller.

I bought this book as something I have never read before. I was not disappointed at all. The author does a great job of telling you the details. Worth it!

Ripple effect of lost sleep

Clever, entertaining and easy. Considering the ripple effect was fascinating. I really loved the audio as the various voices and accents really enhance the story.

It was a great book!

It was a great book. If you like this book, I suggest reading the other books. I couldn't put it away. I got it for the Kindle, I could not stop. It's also a great book for kids. Especially pre-teens, I think they could connect with the main character. The main character is 12. This book is a fictional explaination to why things happen in the world. It is action packed and full of adventure.

high lexile-fun vocabulary

My daughter enjoyed this book immensely, she states "it's a high lexile book, with fun vocabulary. It was fun to work my English project around it"

The Seems was written for children, but this adult enjoyed the verbal puns, etc. immensely. a quick enjoyable read. (hmmm, was it really written for children?) Guaranteed to bring a smile.

Great end to series!

Great end to series. After using Shedderman 1 and 2 with various reading/lit groups in my classroom I had to see how number three and four brought the books full circle. Excellent stories of acceptance and forgiveness and being yourself.

Shredderman - All Books of this Series

We absolutely loved these books. My son is almost 10 and we read them togehter, Although these are very easy reading for my son's age, we read them together because we enjoy them more that way. We both laughed out loud and really got into the stories. Often we ended up missing the absolute, latest possible bedtime curfew because we just HAD to read on! We would be very interested in other books by this author -- although it seems that her others are geared toward girl readers.

Great Series!

I read all four books to my students as we waited for the bus at the end of the day. Kids from neighboring classrooms came in to listen. Since I finished reading the series, students have been borrowing it to reread, and keep asking me if another edition might be written soon.

Way to Go Shredderman!

Kids can identify with the hero in the book. The hero has an unusual way of dealing with a bully.

Start with the first book! The stories just get better!

An important book to read

I was first introduced to E L Konigsburg when I was in 6th grade not too long after The Mixed Up Files of Mrs Basil E Frankweiler came out. She set me on a path to look at art more deeply, more questioningly, and with even greater appreciation. While this her last book, which I just happened upon, is not "easy" it is nonetheless important. It is critical for our youth to understand where art fits in our history and not take it or those who gave their lives in preserving it for granted. It is also imperative that we not forget that art is the keeper of our humanity and our souls as art transcends language, class, race, and religion. This book is not about wizardry or a lighthearted story; it requires something of the reader and it like many of her books also charges her readers to thought, to conversation and to continue even though the story has ended. Sadly and terrifyingly history can, often does, and will repeat itself if we as a whole do not stay vigilant. Works such as this need to be encouraged not dismissed because one might actually walk away with important knowledge.

Not 4 kids

I love kids' stories, I guess for their escapism. I thought this would be a childs adventure, but it wasn't. Not one that most children or preteens would find interesting, I think. And maybe not teens or adults. There were some moments of brilliant imagery. But, all told, it's one of my least favorite Audible stories so far.

What a treasure Trove of listening delights in the entire series of Sophie Stories by the incomparable Dick King Smith, writer of childrens stories.

Each story when read brings you to such a wonderful conclusion of this special little girl Sophie,(She wants to be a Lady Farmer) who is so determined, with hair that looks like she has been through a hedge row backwards. and her entire family including her beloved Octogenarian Aunt Al who lives in the Highlands of Scotland on a most desired farm!(with PONIES of course.)

You and your kiddiewinkies are in for a real treat when you listen to the wonderful heart warming stories, read by Bernard Cribbens who has that special voice that puts us all at ease. Just curl up with the children and listen with them, you wont want to miss a single word.

Aunt Al is Sophie's great-great aunt, and her favorite great-great aunt as well! Aunt Alice, most often called Aunt Al has a special fondness for Sophie and when it comes time to prepare her will Aunt Al takes special care of Sophie and her family.

A delightful story with animal issues (escaped bunny) and reminders to be nice (the scolding from Aunt Al) and even football injuries (thanks to Matt and Mark).

I would definitely recommended this book. It is one of my little girl's favorite stories

Sophie of course.

The scene when Sophie goes to the potting shed and remembers when Aunt Al gave her Beano made me cry.

This was a wonderful, touching story. My daughter enjoyed listening to this story over and over again and I did too.

Yes, I already have. tI is sad and exciting and it is always good to read something again that you already know.

It is like the Longest Whale Song by Jacqueline Wilson as they are both sad but also lucky for the child.

I like Sophie best because she is the main character and believes in herself and gets to do so many things.
