In a heated battle, both are kidnapped by a warring clan. In Audiobook Two, as the foal matures, Lara becomes a competent horsewoman and decides to search for her family, only to find that her homeland has been destroyed. Audiobook Three finds Lara back with the clan. Recognized for her great skills, she is traded, along with the horse, to Norman invaders. In Audiobook Four, the series concludes as Lara finds purpose in training nuns to breed horses.

Lara at the Athenry castle reveiw
Lara is a girl that wishes she could be with horses, but you have to be a boy to work with horses. Well . . . Lara is willing to do whatever just to be with horses. One day Lara is captured and her beautiful filly, Dannsair is also. She is walking, her legs hurting, watching the men handling Dannsair, fighting her. She is scared, and sad. Lara just wishes she could run up from behind Dannsair, jump up onto her back and ride her away from these men and everything and go home to her family.
But Lara wouldnât dare move, she would get hurt if she did. What is she going to do? Let her filly suffer or take the craziest step out of anyone in this world ever made! So if you want to take the journey of your lifetime, YOU could read this book. It will be fun. You could find out facts you didnât know. Itâs a book that gives a meaning to life.
This book is about a friendship so big even war couldnât break it. Courage and love keep them together, like glue. It was a great book. One of the greatest I have ever read. Itâs so heartwarming. I also can relate to this book. Wellâ I donât have a horse, but I still can relate. -Gracie M. Muggli
Here are a few quotes from the book:
1. âBelieve and Live.â- Lara
2. âA river flows north, unlike other rivers, but it is happy.â- Lara
Love the pace, the author, the story.
Love the pace of the story. Love that the author gets the details of the horses correct. Love the snippet in the horse's voice at the beginning of each chapter. Favorite line: the first one - "I stood alone in the middle of the meadow. My heart was breaking." Collecting these for my grandaughter. Author has moved on to writing YA fantasy - I'm betting they are great.
A Kids Review on Lara at Athenry Castle
Nine-year-old Larach was captured by one of her father's tuath's worst enemies, the Normans. She is allowed only a few crumbs of bread and a handful of cheese each morning and night. She struggles to stay with her beautiful moon-colored filly, Dannsair. Lara is unsure of what her future holds, but still trudges on to Athenry.
Lara disguises herself as a Norman boy to get a job at the Baron of Athenry's Stables. She is overjoyed at working in the same stable barn as her filly, Dannsair.
