    Review for Fortunetly the milk
I liked this book, Fortunetly the milk, because it was out of the ordinary and it had quote a few things that at 10 you would find too childish but this book is good for 4+ because it uses easy vocabulary (sometimes) but makeS you think it is hard. Adults can read/listen T O it because it is a fantastically written book. it makes you fee l as though it really is happening to you, Neil Gaiman sets the scene beautifully, he creates the atmosphere well and he also pints a picture in your mind with his well chosen words. This story is a fantasy story with snippets from adventure. Everyone will enjoy Neil Gaimans book, Fortunetlyvthe milk.
    Genuinly wonderful!
A fabulous performance of a fantastic kids book. We have listened many times over, and love it every time!
    Fortunately, I enjoyed
A simple yet well-crafted tale of the sort of adventure that a father would make up for his children. Which, of course, is the whole point of this. Short but thoroughly enjoyable, and read by the author himself who reads it as he intends it to sound. I may be a middle-aged chap but I loved it.

I am still getting used to the whole novella thing. I always feel that a novella should be a side story to the actual novel, not an integral part of the plot. I feel that the novella aspect of the book, with it being shorter, really cuts short the development of the story. All that being said I really liked this novella. It was interesting to really get a look at just one member of the group as they hunt for the relics. I also liked that the author wasn't afraid to have the the heroes fail. I think that always adds an interesting twist to the story. Overall it was a good addition to the series, I just with it was a full novel and not a novella.
    Abbott is always good!
This book is solid as usual when it comes to books by Abbott. He never disappoints. This book is never at a loss for action.
    Five Stars
    good read!
While these archives are not as good as the full books
While these archives are not as good as the full books, they are still good. Much better than other "in-between" parts of a series that I have seen. Love the whole series.
    Perfect for 39 Clues fans
If you liked 39 Clues, you'll like this too. Good characters who help teach history and geography at the same time.

The story of a girl whose strange life in a mysterious lighthouse is turned upside down when her mother's murder leads her to a hidden door - and a mission into an alternate world. Hannah Silver has a secret. She can sense things that other people can't, like the cotton-candy smell of a bad sign, or the weightless touch of an approaching storm. Or the warm, smooth voices of people who aren't really there. In the Cliff House, secrets of all kinds float through the air and bounce off the walls. Secrets that have passed from generation to generation - until they suddenly stop. When Hannah finds her mom murdered outside of their lighthouse, she discovers there are secrets even she doesn't know about. Secrets that will take her through a mysterious door - and into an unknown, other world.
    Members Reviews:
    Cool premise, completely unsatisfying ending
The Door by Andy Marino is a middle-grade fantasy that explores the idea of an afterlife in a city very similar to the real world but fantastical in its own way. The Door also features a protagonist with some mental and social quirks, which hooked me immediately since that is something I donât see explored enough in speculative fiction. However, The Door stumbled into many of the typical middle-grade traps by not having a strong plot and failing to explore the interesting aspects of the premise. Oh, and there is literally no ending by the traditional definitionâ.
Note: I received The Door from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
    The Door by Andy Marino
Published by Scholastic Press on April 29th, 2014
    Genres: Fantasy, MG
    Length: 288 pages
How I got my copy: Publisher
For years, the door has stayed closed. Hannah Silver hardly notices it as she goes about her strange life in an isolated lighthouse. But when a pair of mysterious strangers -- a boy and his guardian -- show up at the lighthouse, things start to go very wrong. Hannah's life is shattered. And the door is now wide open.
In order to save herself and her family, Hannah must walk through this door.
    Into another world.
A world where she doesn't belong.
A world that wants to capture her and make sure she never makes it back home.
    Strengths:
Cities in the afterlife seems to be a trend and The Door presents a pretty interesting middle-grade spin on the idea. The mysterious door in the lighthouse and guardians of said door were all intriguing and fun to get pulled into and then we find out that in order to progress through limbo, residents of this city work to perform some amazing and unique achievement, such as painting the most amazing painting or inventing glass controlled by nanotechnology. Very cool!
The writing of The Door is light and fast, as I typically expect from middle-grade. I enjoyed the descriptions of the city and its denizens since they evoked some really beautiful scenes.
The Door presents a magic system that is assumed to be very advanced technology or technology that conforms to different rules than our world and I had one particular favorite: 3D paint! The artists in this afterworld are able to paint with special material that leads to their paintings being literally 3D objects, but with a painting of that object superimposed. Itâs a bit difficult to explain, but so fun to read about!
    Weaknesses:
I wasnât really sure how my relationship with The Door was going to end up until the end.

    Great book!
I love Fancy Nancy books. They are a great way to teach vocabulary to kids. My kids love to use the "big" words that they learn from Fancy Nancy. In this one, the sand castle that Nancy, her friend and her sister Jojo build gets washed down by waves. Nancy explains to her upset sister, in a very cute way, that they can build another one. It's a nice plot line with some good vocabulary built in. This particular book also has stickers, which are fun, too.

Great end to a very fun series
Would you listen to Remnants of Tomorrow again? Why?
I don't think I would listen to the story again, but I did enjoy listening the first time. Good characters, interesting plot and this final book ties it up very nicely.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I enjoyed all the characters because they grew throughout the story.
Mostly boring and VERY slow to get going
    Any additional comments?
For at least the first 4 chapters or so, you are doing nothing but living inside Wren's thoughts and all she does is speculate and ask annoying questions over and over and over and over. Then, once the book does get going, it is still pretty boring and oftentimes predictable or silly. I just thought the whole thing to be rather blah. Book one was pretty good, the second was decent and the third fell flat.
My Top 5 Reads of 2013 and 2014!
What a wonderful ending to the trilogy! I was blown away and cannot wait to start the whole thing over again in a year or two. Wow!
I could try to describe the story, but it's futile. The books are so much deeper than anything I could say. In fact, it's amazing to me how the descriptions of all three books simply do not do them justice, even though they are factually correct.
Nicola Barber is brilliant as the reader. Her characterizations are spot on and swept me away into the story.
If you love fantasy, you have to read these books. If you have kids over the age of 14, they must read this story. Books like these are why I'm a reader and if I'd read this in school, I would probably have become a writer. The prose is so beautiful, the relationships so real, the problems faced by the characters so compelling that I was captivated from the first book to the last. I'm sad it's over, but excited to see what Kassy Tayler writes next. She has a lifelong fan, and a vocal cheerleader in me.
Do not miss this beautiful adventure, no matter how old you are!

    Educational and Inspiring
Itâs hard to believe that a childâs grandparents could have been slaves in the South in this day in time, but the past is really not far in the past and Sheila Moses brings that fact to life in her book The Sittinâ Up. A child born in the 40âs could easily have had parents born in the late 1800âs and grandparents living in the mid-1850âs. âSlave papersâ were a reality. Ms. Moses puts a face on this reality in the presence of Mr. Bro. Wiley and gives us a picture of life in the black community of Low Meadows in Rich Square, NC.
This book is educational and inspiring. Having lived in Northampton County for 23 years I continue to be amazed at how much I donâtâ know. I was an âoutsiderâ in so many ways, but I should have done better. I should have had a deeper understanding of why names such as Creecy and Faison were held in high esteem. Indeed, if I were black I would have long ago heard of The Legend of Buddy Bush before Ms. Moses wrote the book.
Ms. Moses invites us into a piece of history that is too easily forgotten. Something as simple as the death of an old man reminds us that customs and practices have dignity and significance. Young people and adults of all races should read this book to realize that we forfeit in gaining from the richness of character and community when we segregate ourselves from one another.
    loved it!!!!
Very interesting book. Easy read, so funny, but yet real.
    Five Stars
Grandson loved it and it was on the middle school reading list.
    Excellent Read!
Awesome book. I am from the area and it reminds me of many of the stories I've been told as a child.
    Slow Pace, Great Message
I wavered between three and four stars on this book and decided to go for 3.5. I'll round up to 4 on Goodreads.
There were so many things I liked about The Sittin' Up. I liked getting to know the small community of Low Meadows and the characters in it. I loved the dynamic between the neighborsâall the gossip and sassing each other. It reminded me of some of the places I lived as a kid. I adored Bean and his friendship with Pole. And of course, I loved his memories of Mr. Bro Wiley. Some of my favorite parts of the book were Bean's memories of him and his words of wisdom. For example:
"My home is in hev'n. I'm just a stranger passing through this here ole earth. We all just strangers passing through."
"A man with new money is a fool," Mr. Bro Wiley would say and laugh until he cried.
I liked the "voice" of Bean, and the way he was able to apply the love and kindness he learned from Mr. Bro Wiley to himself and the way he treated others.
The reason I didn't give this book a higher star rating is because it was kind of boring. Not much happened throughout the story.
