Great Listen

Overall the book gave valuable information on starting a business & even in the startup phase somethings I didn't realize. Would recommend!

Not worth the money

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

To start with it sounds like she has done her own recording as there are repeated sentences and strange noises. There are few god points there but the endless sale pitch for her MLM company shouldn't be published in a book/audio you pay for.

What could Lisa Newton have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

She should have taken it to a editor as a good editor would have pointed out what should be in there and how to say it.

What didnt you like about Lisa Newtons performance?

Lisa comes around a bit arrogant and full of her self. God on her she is doing so well but she doesn't have to mention it numerous times. I didn't buy it to listen to her brag on about it.

I felt sorry for the people that spends money on it. There is a need for him about starting up Bookkeeping business but it had to be of a good quality.

Don't teach people time management when you are bad agency a thing yourself. People do what you do not what you say. Could got away with it if she hadn't told all these stories of a bad timekeeping

I found this well thought out and it offers a really good grounding on the ups and downs of starting a bookkeeper business. It has given me ideas and highlighted pitfalls I havent thought of.

It was a very informative book. However, I wish the author would had spoken more about the financial aspects of the career. Specifics like, salary, commissions, bonus, perks etc. Because it is something important to know for somebody who wants but is not sure if jumping into the industry.

Very disappointed!

When you buy a book on style, you expect to see photos of examples, not just text descriptions. I purchased this book expecting a fresh update on the old standby "Dress for Success", and quite frankly, I could have saved my money. The only point-on information were the descriptions of what to wear for an interview, based upon industry standards and one-offs. Disappointing, at best.

A Life Changer

Lauren's style tips are a life changer. Why make things harder than they need to be? I've been using Lauren's fashion advice and it has made a world of difference in how I feel when I walk into meetings in a male dominated industry. I carry that confidence with me to my after work get togethers and on business trips.

What I love about this book's advice is it doesn't take a lot of money to achieve a "dress for success" look.

Thank you Lauren, you are a gift to women in the workforce.

This is a fabulous book that anyone would benefit from. It includes great ideas for looking one's best. It prompted me to "shop my closet" and I know I'll make better clothing purchases going forward. This is a great book that will help anyone navigate the secret dress code of the corporate world. I mentor quite a few women at my place of work & often it is not their lack of education or experience that keeps them from being promoted.

my opinion

much of the information on the different ways men and women think is not new. this book did present a more modern set of example behaviors and was mostly directed toward the work place, as expected because of the title. in the beginning it really seemed to put men down but as it progressed the writing started to have a more neutral approach to discussing the behavior of men. I did find the behavior examples a little closer to older men and not so much Gen x or y, and titled toward men in leadership positions. all in, it was a good listen and provided plenty of examples of how men and women can consider each others brain biology to develop better relationships in the work place.

I prefer "Women Are From Venus, Men Are Mars"

I think "Women Are From Venus, Men Are From Mars" is a better book in understanding differences in communication styles between men and women and provides useful techniques. "Work With Me" contained huge sweeping stereotypes, like offering help to a man suggests that you think he's incapable of doing it himself. I think plenty of men and women are willing to accept help. The book provided some interesting perspective on dialogs -- she says "Have we considered the impact?", what she means "This could be a problem that we're ignoring." However, it didn't provide that much information in improving communication.
