Perfect if an overview is what you are looking for

GREAT overview of the business and possibilities, and worth the money, I just was not aware that it was more of an overview rather than the expected how-to book. At the end of this book, she referenced more by her of the how-to... so I'm off to her website to buy more (guess that was the point of this book) and hope it pays off :) great marketing tactic, worked for me!

Worst "book" I have ever read

I guess any idiot can be published now. There is not a single useful sentence in this so called book. Dont waist yorlur money.

This is an overview of the actual book "How Children Succeed" itself. Kind of like a Cliff's Notes for the full book. It provides a potential reader enough information regarding this bookâs plots, characters and content to determine if we want to invest the extra money and time to actually buy and read the entire book. As an avid reader I have personally found âEureka Booksâ to be a very helpful and valuable service. (BTW ... I bought and read the full book about a year ago myself ... rated it 5-STAR on Amazon and noted that an overwhelming number of viewers also rated it very high. I think the book should be a mandatory read for all prospective parents.)

Great review, much like Sparknotes, but better. "How Children Succeed" explores the principles of how children develop, and this review includes a summary of Tough's great book. A great read for prospective parents, because it breaks down the key takeaways of Tough's book into snippets. As a parent of a toddler, its hard to find time for anything besides vegging on the couch. And reading all the advice out there on parenting doesn't sound like a lot of fun. But this review from Eureka Books was impressive, and fit into my crazy life.

I would recommend to all parents who want the best for their kids, even if they don't have enough time for a NYT Bestseller right now.

Gets to the point. I prefer to cut to the chase. Recommend to parents and educators. Good message. Definitely something to think about.

The Olde Cassettes

I guess I should have known that a cassette program that came out over 20 years ago might have problems associated with it.

I was excited to begin listening to one of my favorite speakers deliver a program released many years ago, but about 60 seconds into the program, I noticed his words became slower then resumed normal speed, then slowed down again.

I can only assume that the years have not been kind to these cassettes, that some parts of the tape must have stretched a bit.

I was told they were in good condition, and, I guess if you can handle the constant changes in tape speed and voice quality, then they are in good shape. In my opinion, they aren't in good shape and I regret having spent the money to purchase them.

LEAP- A story of discovery

LEAP- In this world of uncertainty, Ms. Vigeland shares the story of her journey from climbing the ladder of her chosen vocation to stepping back to evaluate the 'Who?' and 'Why?' of her own story. She also shares the stories of others who have 'Taken their own LEAP'. I appreciated her conversational writing style. As I listened to this audiobook I felt a certain connectedness to the author and her experiences. A good friend inviting you to share in their journey.

Everything Mrs Vigeland says is true, but ...

All the stages of emotions, everything about our identity, and the fact that we loose and find ourselves by leaping Mrs Vigeland says is so very true. She describes a leap very well.. And she is Tess Vigeland, so obviously the performance is good and her points are extremely interesting.

But she is so repetitive, maybe she would have needed to go further into her leap journey before finishing the book ? Its a long jump indeed

Steven Garber was the featured speaker at my Covenant Seminary graduation in May, 2014. Not long afterwards, my wife and I read and discussed this book. It is best read slowly, as he weaves in stories of the band Jars of Clay, Jena Lee Nardella, Wendell Berry, U2, John Le Carre, J.I. Packer, and many others, books and films in this wonderful book. Reading it had the feel of having a conversation with him in a coffee shop or living room.

Garber is the principal of the Washington Institute for Faith, Vocation & Culture, which is focused on reframing the way people understand life, especially the meaning of vocation and the common good. They see that vocation is integral, not incidental, to the mission Dei. He writes that this book invites the reader to âcome and seeâ that this vision of vocation is being lived out by men and women who are committed to a faith that shapes vocation that shapes culture.

He writes that there is not a more difficult task that human beings face than to know the world and still love it. A recurring question that he asks throughout the book is: âKnowing what I know, what will I doâ? He indicates that in thousands of important and different ways, each story is formed by asking and answering that question.

Among the other penetrating questions he asks in the book are:

â How does one learn to see with the eyes of the heart, to see oneself as responsible for the way the world is and isnât?

â Can we know the world and still love it?

I enjoyed his profiles of people who chose to love with honesty and integrity. He writes that those people âsee themselves as implicated in the way the world is and ought to be. They see themselves as having vocations that call them into life, into the world â into a way of knowing that implicates them, for loves sake.â He writes that they are people who have vocations in imitation of the vocation of God knowing the worst about the world, and still loving it. He shares his belief that the most important question is âWhat do we love?â He states that what we believe and how we live is formed by the way we answer that question.

This is a rich book. Read it slowly, and ponder what Garber writes. It will be time well spent.

I've just finished "unnatural Talent" and it is filled with all the information I've been searching for to become a "successful"artist. And when I say "successful", I don't mean the art aspect of artist, I mean the business side of being an artist. Generating income streams! For so long, I've been stuck doing jobs I hate, so I can pay the mortgage and feed my family.

After this review, I'm going to Amazon to order the print version of this book to use as reference on a weekly basis. If you're an artist trying to figure out how to make money doing the thing you love. The thing you FEEL you were meant to be doing, this should be the first book you read.

Inspirational and Informational

This guy is my kind of crazy! Loved the fountain of information and experience he shares!

Solid advice for independent creators!

I've been following Jason's work through YouTube and other outlets and already been inspired! this book is a comprehensive look into all that goes into creating independent comics from his point of view. He's been successful at what he's done and this information is absolutely invaluable for someone like me trying to do the same.

All the advice is shared in an entertaining and clear way! I can't recommend this book enough for independent comic book creators

For some reason I enjoyed

Although the voice effects Jason uses at first seemed a bit corny I think it helped me eventually finish listening to this book in 24 hours time. I've been doing a lot of research so most of the information I already knew but he threw in a few things that gave me a new prospective. The chapters on designers and printing was useful and new to me. Jason comes off as a nice guy so listening to him was easy.

This book collects tons and tons of great info on the do's, do nots, and how to's of creating and self publishing a graphic novel, and how to potentially make a living doing it. I recommend this to anyone who wants to self publish their own comics!
