    Great read
Loved it. Could not stop listening. Wanted to see how it ended. Good story line.
    Great book
Loved it, I'm hooked on Beverly Lewis' books. l will keep ordering all her books.
end of the trilogy, end of the story
What to say, the end of the trilogy; "The Secret", "TheMissing, and now this. You pretty much learned the basics of how the story would turn out, just not the details, in the second book. I had some ideas on how I thought it would go but it was completely different than what I anticipated. Still, it was the end to a good story by the author. I don't know that I would call it exciting, sometimes it seemed even slow getting through some of the different situations. Still, if you made it through the first two stories, you'll want to listen to this one as well. A story of the human spirit, yes it is, and if you like that type of story, you'll like this one.

    Good book, bad narrator.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This was a good story. The author does a good job. But the narrator was terrible. No change in voices and way too much emphasis on EVERY sentence!
How could the performance have been better?
A narrator who is able to voice different characters so that you can tell who is speaking and also does not read every sentence as if it has an exclamation mark at the end of it!
    Tragic Romantic Love Story
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
    Yes.
If youve listened to books by Amy Clipston before, how does this one compare?
    Very Good.
    Which scene was your favorite?
Hard to say the story was so sorrowful.
Do you think A Promise of Hope needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I believe there are several more books already in print.
    Any additional comments?
I couldn't give the book a 5 star rating but nevertheless I will most likely read/listen to the rest of the series out of curiosity.
a book in the slow lane
The plot is elementary and predictable, very simplistic with no depth or intrique. The fist book in the series was much more interesting which made this one disappointing. Too bad the author did not involve more of the characters we met in the first book.
    A Promise of Hope
This is a fantastic book! The reader did a great job!

    Format: Abridged
Length: 3 hrs and 16 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 04-19-10
    Publisher: Bethany House
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 10 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Religious & Inspirational
    Publisher's Summary:
Lancaster County is cloaked in autumn splendor, and a reunion is in the air....
Awakening to darkness, Katie, in a dreamy haze, thought surely she was back in her bedroom at Hickory Hollow, that it was time to rise 'n' shine, hurry into chore clothes, get out to the barn to help with the milking. But, as she lay there listening, ears attuned for her father's call up the steps, she realized she was not a girl growing up in the Lapp home. She was a young married woman, curled up next to Dan, her sleeping husband.
From newlyweds Katie and Dan living in the shadow of the shunning, to Rachel and Philip embracing parenthood even as he acclimates to Amish life as an outsider.... From the courtship of Lydia Cottrell and her betrothed, Levi King, to Sarah Cain, now a wife and mother struggling to bridge her own life with that of the People.... October Song is overflowing with the simpler things of life that make a Lewis novel an unforgettable journey into the depths of the human heart.
    Critic Reviews:
"Lewis fans will be pleased to find the same consistent writing they've come to enjoy, and to catch glimpses of how their favorite characters are faring." (Publishers Weekly)
"Lewis returns to Lancaster County with a collection of short stories that revisit characters from The Shunning, The Postcard, and other titles in the "Lancaster County Books" series. As she catches readers up on the lives of Katie and Dan, Bishop John and Mary, Rachel and Philip, Sarah Cain, and many more, Lewis shows the diversity of Christian beliefs in this community and the effect that choosing to follow God has had on the families divided by different beliefs." (Library Journal)

    Publisher: Brilliance Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 13 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Religious & Inspirational
    Publisher's Summary:
Millions of readers around the world have followed the story of the gentle wood-carver and carpenter who was first introduced in 1983 in Joseph Girzones beloved parable, Joshua. In Joshua's Family, Girzone travels back in time, painting a captivating portrait of the mother and father who nurtured Joshua, and of the friends and neighbors who viewed the unusually precocious child with an uneasy balance of wonder and skepticism.
Joshuas extraordinary nature and mysterious gifts come to light even as he participates in the ordinary routines of small-town life: his gentleness and loving spirit imbue his interactions with his contemporaries and adults alike. As he grows from child to adolescent, Joshua gradually awakens to the knowledge that he has been placed on earth for a special reason. Leaving the comforts of family and a familiar world, he moves to the outskirts of a distant town, where he will begin to teach others how the power of love, tolerance, and understanding can heal the divisions in the human family and bring everlasting peace to the world.
This is the book so many have been waiting for, and its powerful message of love and understanding is a much-needed antidote to the difficulties in today's world.

Such a sweet book about a young boy as he learns how special he truly is to His Father and to the rest of the world. It is written in a simple way to make it a book that can be read by the young as well as the adult. If you have read any of the author's Joshua series you will appreciate this story and how sweet Joshua learns of his gifts.

This Southern Suspense is music to my ears
I have fallen in love with Raleigh Harmon. Raleigh is a FBI agent trying to catch the bad guys with little help from the "good" guys. Her "realness" in her various duties keeps drawing me in, causing me to think about the real struggle to walk out our convictions while living in this fallen world. Her love for her eccentric or emotionally damaged mother, her love for their broken & addicted boarder all make Raleigh a character that is admirable and real. I'm hooked!

Enjoyed listening to on my trip
I enjoyed this book and the entire series. I did think some of the character accents sounded a little strange and not really how I had imagined them speaking.
    Another Hit
loved this last book! Absolutely, hands a great series. I changed my mind about moving to Louisiana. LOL
    Enjoyed
I like her books. Wasn't crazy about the narrator. She is a good Christian writer of fiction
    Great story, but ...
had trouble getting past the bizarre accents the narrator used for the characters. The story line was good and the twists in the plot kept it interesting. I enjoyed the book and would recommend!
