I love all of Janette Oke books
I love all of Janette Oke books. They are such a breath of fresh air. I love the challenges the characters face and how they turn to God for guidance. I lost my husband almost two years ago. I prayed for help in finding peace. I believe Jannette Oke was sent to me. I have found so much peace by reading her books. Thank you Jannette Oke.
    Wonderful!!
Once again Janette Oke has come through with a terrific and touching story. Many years ago I read her Love Comes Softly series and was so sad for it to end. But in her own elegant way, Janette Oke has offered her readers a continuing story of Clark and Marty and their family. For me, it's like a visit from old friends, "catching up" on life. For my daughter, who is new to Janette Oke, it has been an exciting adventure back in time to learn how so many things were very different, but the most important things in life are so very much the same: Faith, Love and Famiy! Thank you, Mrs Oke for your beautiful, inspiring stories!!
    Love!!
Love all Janette Oke books! This didn't disappoint!!
    Five Stars
    Love her writings... great stories
    Encouraging read
I started reading Jannette Oaks books many years ago. I have reread a lot and continued the journeys. They are wonderfull! Her stories are great but even more they always have a message or encouragement just when you need it most. Although the stories are fiction the life lessons are there along with great entertainment!

Love the Story, so I put up with the narrator...
I have listened to each book in the series so far (3) and I have promised myself each time that I would write a review. It took three books, but here goes - I love love love the story, but what is going on with the narrator?? This applies for every book so far!! The female voices are too similar and more often than not, the male voices sound too feminine.
The numerous pauses taken by the narrator are seldom for dramatic effect, and are irritatingly breathy or noisy. She also displays unnessary smacking of lips.
I'm really not being picky, the behaviors listed above are continuous throughout each book in the series, so far. I have listened to many audiobooks, at least 2-3 per week for years, and this narrator is bad! BUT the author is excellent!!
    Boring
I do not see how it can be rated any higher than 1 or 2 stars. It was so boring and repetitious that I had to take the ear phones off just to get away from the book. I finished it because I regreted spending my money on it. It is safe for kids.

    Complex Masterpiece
A complex masterwork of fiction and an amazing meditation on the nature of religion and Jewishness in Europe and the modern age. I couldn't stop listening to it all the way through. The reader does a compelling and highly entertaining job, and really brings the characters to life in a way that absolutely fits the story.
    Singer at his best
He's always at his best, so my title is misleading and true at the same time, which is a way of saying Magician is filled with ambiguity and paradox.

    Publisher's Summary:
In this powerful, poetic, and moving parable, the Wandering Jew of medieval Christian legend journeys to Delphi to consult the famed oracle of the pagans. He is turned away but not before learning that one of the most adept of the old priestesses, or sibyls, lives in disgrace in the mountains above the Temple. In her crude goat-hut he seeks the meaning of his disastrous brush with the son of God. She reveals that she, too, has been touched by the son of a god, a very different son, not quite human, born of her own body. He dwells with her as a constant reminder of the betrayal of her mystical and erotic union with the divine, her punishment, and, perhaps, her redemption.

    Thought-provoking
The story in the book is a search for God. I was fascinated by the progression of the sibyl's tale though I knew the end from the beginning. It was fascinating on many levels, however, and I can't wait to talk about it with others!

    MY NEW FAVORITE BOOK!
I love to read and have for over four decades, so it is a great compliment to Ms. Tatlock when I say that this book has become my new all-time favorite other than my Bible!
War Crimes, Polio, Spanish Flu, and HOPE
Nova lay under the starry sky every night watching the moon for her brother, Dewey, who could no longer watch the constellations for himself . . . because he instead lay in the hospital stricken with polio in an iron lung, fighting for his life . . . in post WWII 1948 in a small town in Minnesota, life felt hopeless for Nova and her mother, after moving into the boarding house with aunt Dortha. But Nova and Dewey were best friends, not just brother and sister, and Dewey shared his dreams of being the first man on the moon as they lay under the night skies and looked for shooting stars with the telescope. Then, the unthinkable happened . . . Dewey got polio. The many threads of this historical novel come together to tell a deeply woven tale of pain, abuse, love, faith and family unlike any that I have ever experienced. Our God allows us our anger and our doubts . . . and so it was with Nova, Dewey and their mother. And at the same time he sends us his faithful servants, Aunt Dortha, Josef, friends and neighbors to strengthen us and hold us up when our own strength fails. Told through the eyes and ears of a child, this amazingly simple, yet deep story is one for the ages . . . drink it in with your soul.
    Heartwarming but not light hearted
Ann Tatlock masterfully interwove the stories of two families who each faced heartbreaking circumstances in their lives. The first family is Josep's. Josep is a Holocaust survivor who is a boarder at the second family's house. It is his response to what he has endured during his life and his humanity which make him so notable. The second family is a single mother, Ma, her sister and her two children Dewey and Novalka (Nova). Their story is about the suffering they endure due to polio striking one of the members of the family.
Ann skillfully builds the characters (there are more than just the two families) and has created a novel to remind us all of the horrors that wicked leaders can impose on people, and how cruel a disease Polio is and the reason why vaccinations are so important .
    Yes
A great little story with a lot of
Local history and yet a bigger
    Message. Definitely a re-read. Awesome.

    Loved it!
This book was great in that it is realistic, upbeat, humorous and light hearted all at the same time. The small town backdrop fits almost all towns. The characters are so well written that you can't help but feel like they are family. A very good read.
    I liked it.
Funny, interesting, good clean fun. Offers insight into the thoughts of "Generation X". It gives you things to think about without being at all "preachy". The read does a good job with different character accents and voices.
    Real People who are Christians
I'm not usually a fan of Christian writings, with only a few notable exceptions. So, when a friend recommended Ray's books to me, I still didn't read them, even after meeting the author. (He's a really nice guy by the way.) Recently, I was looking for a new read and remembered her advice. Grabbed a copy of Flabbergasted and couldn't put it down. I bought the remainder of the trilogy the next day. Ray's three novels are unique in the Christian world of literature not becuase his characters do things, but because they are real people who are also Christians. So many Christian authors write stories about Super Christians who are going through a trial of some sort. I recognized these people as REAL, real lives, real jobs and Christians too. Christians of varying degrees, new and old. I hope other Christian authors take their signals from Ray and start writing about real characters too.
Well written novel from a Christian worldview
What made the experience of listening to Flabbergasted the most enjoyable?
I loved listening to a story about modern relationships based on character rather than sex.
    Horrible Narrator!!!
Most monotone and uninflected reading of any book I've ever listened to. I could not listen to more than 5 minutes. I really wanted to hear this story too!

    Adding Guts to the Glory
While the original Left Behind series crossed over the lines of the Christian marketplace and into the New York Times bestseller list, it always had the feel of a 'traditional' Christian novel. Apocalypse Dawn has all of the faith of the original, but with a Tom Clancy style that hooks you from the first moment and never lets go. More gritty and with more shades of grey than the first series, those who love the best of military and techno fiction will not be dissappointed, while those who seek the message that propelled the orginal will be satisfied.
Well narrated and well produced, this is a must for all fans of Left Behind and a great introduction for those who haven't yet taken the plunge. Hooorah!
    Tom Clancy with a bible
From the openning scean to the final words this book is like reading a Tom Clancy book with bible prophacy tossed in.
The way the characters react to the events around them is what you would expect of the military, and the events around the main characters wife will pull at your hart strings.
If you're like me when listening to this book you better set aside a huge block of time because you wont be able to turn it off...and chances are you'll find yourself praying for the characters...it's that real.
This narator is probably the best I've heard in a long time...that's why it feels so real.
You'll be able to almost feel the grit on the faces of the Army Rangers in the Middle East, and at times you'll find yourself giving orders as if you were right there.
Lastly, if you have not read the original Left Behind books I strongly encourage that as you will not understand the uses of some of the terms or characters.
    Awesome!
If you bother to read the description, it clearly says it is aligned with the Left Behind series. As an avid fan of that series, I thought I would give this a try. What a great story! It is so fast-paced and engaging. I jumped right into the second book Apocalypse Crucible. Both were fantastic. I am going to have to buy the books for the the next two because they are not out in audio yet. Great story telling!
It will make you cry and be afraid
I have read several other reviews and completely agree with the 5 star people. I wasn't paying too much attention to where the story was going when I first started reading it with my ears. It certainly grabs you and won't let go until the end and then you have to pry each finger away, one at a time, with difficulty. I never cry when I read, but I did. What is there to fear in a book? Nothing except I ask myself when will it by my turn? It is captivating, riveting, biblical, and almost real.
    A Must Read/Listen
I have listened to many audiobooks and been dissappointed.

    Wonderful Book!
When I frist heard about this book from my friends, I was not sure what to expect, but I am so happy that I bought this book. It is like a Stephen King novel, but with a Godly message! I Loved This Book!
    Couldn't bear the recording
This audio recording was so bad, I couldn't listen for more than 30 minutes. I really like Frank Peretti but it looks like I'm going to have to read this one myself. Anybody thinking about purchasing this, listen to the sample first, and ask yourself, "Can I bear 4 and a half hours of this?"
    Good listen.
The narration was great. It lent to the atmosphere. The audio effects were used appropriately.
    great book
What made the experience of listening to The Oath the most enjoyable?
    Good story
What did you like best about this story?
    There is truth to it
What does Joseph Campanella bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I have not read the book
If you could take any character from The Oath out to dinner, who would it be and why?
that would be a hard one to say
    poor recorcing
Maybe there was something wrong with my download but this is the first time I have run across this so I don't think so. This seems to have been recorded over the top of another book. You could hear another voice (although not make out the words) in the background, which was very annoying. It reminded me of the old radio shows my father and I used to listen to - kind of tinny sounding. The book itself was not bad, but good luck getting a better quality of sound than I got!

Great for Golfers and for those who are searching for meaning
My husband loved this book and the other one we found by Mr. Murphy. We are actually going to meet the author soon. He truly understands human consciousness and uses this book to present valuable life lessons.
Wonderful sequel to Golf In The Kingdom
Wonderful sequel to Golf In The Kingdom. A great read for golfers and non-golfers alike. One of those special books you will enjoy reading many times.
Michael Murphy's skills as a writer and as philosopher are sterling.
Delightful, it makes one believe in magic. This book is about the power of the earth's energy as experienced through golf. Murphy's language can be tricky, the tale is most involving. Did it really happen?
    great read
    MICHAEL MURPHY did it again.
Great golf philosophy, carry over to life. Really good read. Head to put down. Bureau to Seamus McDuff.
    Disappointing
This is a not very good read. Golf in the Kingdom is an interesting intro to zen in the golf game. This is just a cash in on the first
