Excellent Leadership Principles in a Timely Resource

Looking for a great nonfiction read on emotional health and community in the body? The Genius of One is that resource. Itâs no secret that God created us to be in community with Him. The dichotomy of living as one and as many would appear as though the two shouldnât go together, but as Greg Holder has eloquently penned, the reality is that we have to live in the âgodly tensionâ of both. If you have the privilege of serving with any sort of Christian organization or if you are looking to sharpen your leadership skills, The Genius of One is full of biblical and real-life examples of how we can work together as many and still be unifiedâone. Sure, life will have its bumps along the way, but there is a biblical way to walk through those bumps, and Holder, who uses The Bible as home base, lays out some practical ways that lead to unity in the body.

Why is our world in trouble and what can we do about it? The Genius of One is a must read. I love Chapter 9, "The Color of the Cobra's Eyes" where Holder tells a story of a life experience, relates to a topic (gossip), why it's destructive to our world and how to live better. The writing style is easy to read, humble, funny and full of love with language like "Gobsmacked"! It's clear he's a master story teller. This is a book full of wisdom - not to be just read - but to shared, discussed and revisited. For me, this new book is in my "multi-copy" must gives for family and friends!

Good reference material

Solid read, this is great reference material. I don't feel this is a read once and done book, it's one that can be revisited time and time again as applicable.

Great, great, great book. I've recommended it to several friends already. I love that he emphasizes the importants of seeing your child for who they are and not trying to hammer them into a certain mold. I have had a great time getting to know the little person that God has placed in my care. I also appreciated how much he points out that more is caught than taught and reminds me that our children will "follow me and I follow Christ". Again, I would recommend this book hands down.

A book to "soak" in!

The book begins with: âImagine the day after your death.â

You have my attention.

What is more powerful is after a beautiful description of what could be as we enter heaven comes this thought: âImagine that this is not the day after your death. Instead, it is today.â

What God dreams for us in our ânowâ is what we only think of after we die. Chris Webbâs powerful invitation is for us to think about what is now as powerfully as we can imagine what âeternal lifeâ is like.

Webb builds this book for discussion. Each section is small bite-sized chapters full of rich thought followed by a section of study and discussion.

The goal for Webb is to understand what God has for us, as believers, now. It is to understand the Church is not an institution or some political movement. It is a community. And that community is powerful.

Our deepest need may be to understand the thorough calling of the Kingdom of God. Repentance isnât about changing our minds. It is to change our outlook on life. It is to change our perspective on the world that reshapes us from the heart outward. No part of our life is unchanged.

We need a life of repentance.

Part of that new worldview is to understand that the basis of the kingdom of God is truly love. God is love. He creates a community of love. In our combative culture today, it is hard to see the transforming work of love that is possible.

Webb works his way deep into the human soul and holds out the possibility of incredible change. It comes in the deepest part of our core and works its way out. Deep truth within is the road to a beautiful community.
