A. W. Tozerâs examination and explanation of true Worship before the Lord God will have readers coming to their knees, seeking to fulfill the purpose for which God made us â to Worship Him.

As I am the granddaughter of a pastor, granddaughter and daughter of church deacons and other church leaders I have often heard Mr. Tozer quoted and revered as a great teacher of the Word but had never had the opportunity to study any of his works before being offered this book for review. I greatly looked forward to this study as we had recently covered this topic in church and was eager to learn more. Mr. Tozer carefully and precisely explains what true worship is and isnât and what is required of the believer that desires to experience it. He begins with what has happened to our worship, both personally and corporately as believers, talking of how worship has become more like a box to check and only to be done on Sunday mornings. I was convicted most certainly when he reminded me that we are to be continually worshiping God, through our every action and word, thereby bringing glory and praise to God in everything. And what joy to be reminded that God allows us to worship Him just as the Seraphim before the throne of God. Yes, God is approachable, Tozer shares, but He is not our buddy or pal. Rather He is Almighty God, Creator of Heaven and Earth and all that is in it, Worship Thou Him! In the 135 pages of these collected teachings Mr. Tozer destroys any false ideas of worship before God and help readers understand just how great and majestic is the Lord God. I took one chapter a day and focused on it during my daily devotional time and this was some of the best time I have spent with the Lord. I laughed, cried, prayed and worshiped in a deeper way and have found that the effects of those special days are long-lasting and close at hand in my mind. I have grown closer to the Lord in my time with Him since and am seeking to worship in everything I say and do. Mr. Tozer does not pull punches and those who read this book with a seeking heart will find new and better ways to come before the Lord and make their life one of worship before the King of Kings. It was bittersweet for me to finish this study as I was learning and growing with each passing day of study.

Never too late -restoration

I really enjoyed this book, my only regret is that I didnt read it 20 years ago as a younger woman. But just like the story presents, you can return to the lover of your soul and be restored. I specially appreciate it the explanation of idols an being an I-ddict! What a great parallel!

This is a very naive book; no comments at all. The author seems to lack of knowledge about Biblical studies. He limits himself into doing a simple copy of the verses, with some adaptation in the language. No deep comments on the importance of this book today. The few introductory pages are very shallow theologically speaking. It is not worth the money paid for such a book.

I looked forward to this every day. It was quick and simple, yet it caught my attention and i was able to relate to it each day. I enjoyed the stories, and he often gave me the "aha moment."

I gave it as a gift, she really enjoys it.

Excellent, ideas based on the Bible on how to live a life with more gratitude and enjoyment.

All my books by Joyce Meyer have highlighting throughout. I find so much that strikes me as important that I want to go back and revisit. I love how Joyce shares so much of herself, her struggles and even the abuse she suffered as a child. There is something so very encouraging about seeing how she has overcome all the hard times in her past. It makes me feel as if I can be victorious with Godâs help too.

This book came to me at a time when I really needed it. Imagine the idea of enjoying where you are?

I canât say that I often feel that way. Joyce has so much useful advice for someone like me, and yes, I think I can put a lot of her ideas into practice starting with the thought that I often work too hard to make everything perfect, and not everything needs to be that way.

I noticed another reviewer didnât care for how Joyce adds words in parenthesis to make the meaning clearer. For me, that is a welcome addition , and I appreciate that she does it. I think a lot of it comes from how she has studied with an Amplified Bible. As far as I can see, this practice has helped Joyce and many others grow. It really adds to my understanding of the Bible.

I highly recommend this book.

Great Reminders

Joyce is always so good at reminding me of the truth of what the Bible says.

Do you enjoy life? I know many days I let little things get me down, for no reason. I need a change of heart and mind and this book is a great reminder of that.

A few quotes from the book that stood out of me:

From Chapter 2: "As believers, you and I have available to us the same quality of life that God has. His life is not filled with fear, stress, worry, anxiety or depression. God is not impatient, and He is in no hurry. He takes time to enjoy His creation, the works of His hands."

How true is that. It didn't have to take God six days to create everything.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Heidelberg Catechism: 450th Anniversary Edition to be better than the print version?

This is a great complement to the print edition of the Heidelberg Catechism, especially for those members of our church who cannot read (old and young).
