TRUE ACCOUNT OF ALZIEMERS

I truly enjoyed this accopunt of what families of alziemers victims go through. I work with alziemers patients and their families every day. This book shows how vulnerable not only the patient is but also their family.

Enjoyable and Thought Provoking

Would you listen to A Month of Summer again? Why?

I may listen to this one again in a few months. The plot is tightly woven and the characters are realistic.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I suppose I'd never thought about what it must be like to be a stroke victim, as Hannah Beth is. This particular character made the whole experience of struggling for words, struggling to be understood and grasping for movement and improvement understandable. I don't think I'll ever forget it. Rebecca also is a sympathetic character - someone living with resentment and hurt who is forced to confront what she believes to be true and having to choose to either stay where she is emotionally or letting go of the past and learning to live life on other terms. There are so many other characters I could mention - Teddy, Claude, Mary - not enough space, though. You'll have to listen/read the book for yourself.

Wingate Tells From the Heart

Another thoroughly enjoyable story from Lisa Wingate. I love the experience of her stories told about people from the inside out. I love the experience of knowing her people will be better off in the end. This particular story is a tour of compassion, personalities, efforts at creating beauty in a confusing world, misunderstanding, understanding, and wisdom in "broken" minds. I loved Claude's story-pictures. Johanna Parker, the narrator is astoundingly remarkable.

The novel begins slow for me and it has issues that are too real-life, I wanted to put it down. Then the characters became a part of my heart and I loved it.

Good book, Reader not so appealing

The Born in-Trilogy is one of my favorites thus I also wanted it on my portable device in order to listen to it when I am on my way to work and back. But I was somehow disappointed by the reader. I think he makes Murphy Muldoon sound somewhat dimwitted which I think is a great pitty.

Furthermore I made the mistake of listening to "Fool" by Christopher Moore before where an excellent reader was hired which made the difference even more obvious.

An Irish Treat!

I loved this series. Ireland and art seem to be theme of the trilogy and each sister has their own unique talent. This is my least favorite of the three because the story was a little more predictable and while I love a mystical twist in any book it seemed out of place here. That means 4 stars versus 5 I gave the others so still not to shabby. Murphy is a wonderful hero and a man any woman would swoon over. There is great continuity to see Rogan and Maggie and Brianna and Grayson's relationships and family grow. It was fun to witness the sister's relationships grow over time and touching to see their horrible mother's heart finally open some with the addition of the grandkids. A great trilogy and addictive.

A Perfect Ending to a Great Trilogy!

Yes I would. I would only recommend this book as part of a great trilogy. One really needs to read the first two books in the series before reading this one. This book was a perfect ending to one of Nora Roberts most enjoyable trilogy's.

The ending. I thought I had predicted the ending and then she threw me a curve, but came together in the end for a perfect love story.

I love this series and I think this book is my favorite because you get to see the progression of Maggie and Brianna. I loved that most.

I don't know if this is the same narrator as the first two but if so this was alot better, but still not good.

When Maggie and Shannon began to form a relationship. I loved to see the relationship between the female characters grow throughout the book.

I really liked this book but I think Nora Roberts could have done a better job developing the Murphy character. In this book she made him seem clumsy and ackward but that was the sense in the other books.

enjoyable, but...

I loved how this wrapped up the Quinn's story. However, the problem I had with this was the narration. Many times, there was a southern drawl to many of the characters. Seeing as how the characters are all from the northeastern seaboard, and none of them had an accent in the previous 3 books in this set, it was distracting. Very distracting. The accent seemed to disappear in the last few chapters, which again, was distracting & odd. Not to mention the character's voices weren't well distinguished. The 3 stars combine my 4-star rating for the story & plot, and my 2-star rating for narration.

What did you love best about Chesapeake Blue?

The final book in the Chesapeake Bay Series, sigh.... Fast forward 3 decades as Seth Quinn returns from this travel abroad to the home of his three if not by blood, by will, older brothers. He arrived there is a 10-year-old boy and they raised him to become the man he is.

Seth is now known as a famous artist, not the nearly broken boy he was when he was brought to the Quinn family. He is returning to his favorite place on earth, the first place he learned about love the love of the family, St. Christopher.

Drusilla, as it so often happens is an unattached, young woman has moved to the town of St. Christopher. She is from a powerful political family and after finding her fiancé cheating on her she makes the move to the more laid-back and friendly town. She opens the flower shop and live a peaceful life.

Of course, the bachelor, Seth needs to purchase some flowers on his first day back.

A Nora Roberts Review By A Guy

This novel came up in one of Audible s special sales. It sounded interesting to me, a Boston attorney comes to bayou area outside New Orleans buying a huge Southern mansion and doing the restoration/renovation mostly himself, rebounding from a broken engagement and finding love. Embodied in this was a parallel story at the turn of the century involving a murder in this home and various spirits (ghosts) that were active in this long-abandoned plantation home, and the obligatory love story, both past and present and very connected. So far, so good.

As a male reader of mostly history/nonfiction and detective/thriller novels, this had some excellent elements to get me engaged. First, the story is somewhat complex as the characters from the past are highly correlated to the characters in the present. There is a lot of ghost activity, flashbacks and paranormal events. Nora Roberts demonstrates authority on the process of restoration which was interesting.

Suffice it to say, this story leaves the concrete world and heads somewhere else. The characters are well-developed and interesting. The couple is compelling, complex and interesting whole people. My only quibble comes at the end, when too many things happen and there is parallel story running simultaneously; that got me into disbelief quickly. Would you say yes to marry someone that had lost his mind/gender periodically?

Things happen with much purpose and everything means something, so there is a bit of rush as everything has to be neatly resolved. I recommend this book as excellent entertainment. Nora Roberts writes a novel with strong characters, a great plot and wonderful information and dialog.

So, from a man's perspective, this is worth the time and money. It was escapism at its best.

Not the Norm

I read it twice now. The two things I enjoyed most are:

1 - The characters get together early. It's not the typical cat and mouse game.

2 - The evil is revealed in the very first chapter of the book but the twists in the plot kept me keenly interested. The second time I read it I picked up a lot that I missed the first time.

Lots of Fun

Light, fun, a good "beach book" but with an intriguing story line and great characters. A feel good light read that had me laughing out loud. A story about a nerdy female professor looking for a dumb man to father her baby so he/she won't grow up to be nerdy like she was. A balancing of the genes so to speak. The main characters Jane (the professor) and Cal (the football jock) have a wild ride from start to finish. Totally enjoyable and well read. A good break from some of the heavier books.

OK - I'm officially an SEP addict

This was a fun book, read by a great narrator. In the beginning when I first heard her do Cal's voice, I thought I couldn't listen to that for the entire book, but it grew on me and after awhile he was "Cal". Anna Fields knows when to pause and how and when to apply the right amount of emphasis and emotion. As for the author, I hope SEP enjoys writing them as much as her readers enjoy reading/listening. I also hear she blends her books by taking a side character and making them the focus of another book and then taking a side character in that book etc. I'm hoping to see how old lovers are doing.

Hilarious with drama

Wonderfully refreshing /Anna Fields is the only one who could have narrated this book.The professor and the dumb jock are too funny , I could not do any thing but laugh out loud.This book is so enjoyable and surprises in every chapter.I will purchase more from the author and narrator. Cant help but listen again and recommend to all.

Can you say HOT?

This is probably my favorite SEP book so far. I love the characters. The way they meet, the circumstances, the story and a scene on the stairs that still makes me crack up!This - like all of her books I've read so far have some really great SPICE, but not too much - just enough. You will meet these characters again later in another book and if like me a couple of the scenes come back with a smile when certain locales are revisited.

This was a very easy to listen to story. There was just enough heat, angst and drama to make this book interesting enough to listen to. If you're looking for good listen for a calm afternoon, this is your book.

The narrator is pleasant enough to make this an enjoyable listen.

NO! I could hardly finish this one, I did not like her voices for the different characters, I found it very irritating.

You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Don't think so. When I finally finished it (it definitely wasn't a page turner), it left me kind of deflated.

What did you love best about Part Time Cowboy?

I love ornery and stubborn Eli who fights with himself after encountering his potential girlfriend or wife, (even tho he has not got that far in his mind). I think it is so cute and funny because I know he will fall in the end. Eli has to deal with so much in his life, having to have order in his life and feels he has to take care of everybody and no time for love. I love traveling the road with him as he evolves into the man he eventually does.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Part Time Cowboy?

Loved the end where Sadie is confronted by the Chamber of Commerce woman, who gives her food for thought and the following scenes where Eli and Sadie come to the same realization, their true feelings for each other.

What does Lillian Thayer bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

I think I have listened to her before and I knew from the first chapter that I would really enjoy the audio book because I love her voice. Time just flew during the almost 10 hour book, read it in one sitting. Lillian did a fantastic job, loved her way with both male and female voices. I really felt like I had just watched a movie.

Enjoyable Christmas Story

I truly enjoyed this wonderfully uplifting story. I just had eye surgery and am unable to read anything. this story kept me quite entettaimed.

loved it. but I love Fern Michaels books. would recommend to young and old alike.

contraction lacktion

it was annoying to not have one contracting word. seems like a 14 year old wrote it. she repeats herself constantly and really the story is only 2 chapters long with constant repetition. really disappointed
