    A helpful and informative book!
I am not an artist and I have no idea with zen drawing but I was curious with this book and read it. I have learned a lot from this book and I know I can share it with my daughter which is an artist.
Within my spare time I used to enjoy drawing an now I love it
I was always interested in drawing since I was young an have always had a kack for drawing whatever came to mind at the time, but as I got older I figured my sketches should have gotten at least fairly better, but they didn't. No matter what I'd do it seemed I would be stuck to draw horrible sketches and probably nothing better then stick people at best. But then I started reading into this book an overnight my thinking changed in the right direction or something as I'm now drawing more rounded circles and ovals when making shapes they don't end up having jagged edges and look smooth now. I've learned how to sketch up things faster too on the spot an not take forever an a day.
    a waste
This is an absolute waste of money. I should've listened to the other reviewers that said not to waste time with this one. The cover is very pretty, though, but inside has nothing of value. The author goes over and over about the therapeutic value of coloring. Hello! I already know that. Tell me something else. Seriously, don't bother with this "book."
Perfect for beginners and very explanatory.
I'm a lover of drawing and wanted to do the same level of many people I know, I started drawing in high school, drawing manga most of all, if Japanese culture is something that attracts me but wanted to learn more, other types of drawing and start from the basics, so acquired this book seems to me just what I wanted, another type of drawing in a clear and comprehensive book.
Find interesting art in this style, Zentangle had not heard but seeing the drawings fell in love, I'm somewhat advanced in this style, and my friends like many of my drawings. It is a relaxing and fun style of this book and explains step by step how. it's simple, you just have to have a lot of dedication.
    Don't buy the printed verison
Don't spend your money. Poorly written and poorly printed.

    Publisher's Summary:
This is an introduction to the Marvel Comic's character, Deadpool. A brief history, this book includes some rare detail and trivia. A must for anyone interested in Deadpool, whether you are a newbie or a seasoned fan. Deadpool has appeared in over 7,000 comic books, yet still is quite an unknown character. While he might have a cult following, his presence is only seen here and there in the comic book realm. Starting as a villain, Deadpool developed into a wise-cracking vigilante, mostly working as a mercenary. This book is an introduction into the history and presence of Wade Wilson, also known as the Merc with a Mouth, better known as Deadpool.

Short, shorter on content, doomed from the start
Nothing much here for deadpool fans. If you know anything about the character, you'll likely get nothing out of this other than the minor thrill of just listening to someone talk about deadpool.
Grievously short already, this audio is composed only a fraction by a (shallow) study of the character; great length is wasted to simply list the comic titles he appears in as well as a recommended shortlist. Further diluting the density of time spent discussing the titular character, and of only cursory interest and unsurprising facts, is an overwrought biography of each of DP's two creators...and a list of their other works.
Achieving only the satisfaction of certain trivial curiosity, this audio delivers only 10 or 15 minutes of actual deadpool content, of which I can't imagine that anyone searching for or purchasing this audio didn't already know. As this title itself points out, 'pool has "a cult following," thus, in hindsight, "Deadpool 101" seems a doomed enterprise from the start. An impulse purchase I already regret, even at ~$2.75.
    Not bad
Wish it had more insight into deadpool since there are not any other books I could find on here to listen to about him

    Members Reviews:
Extremely useful and informative! Must have!
What made the experience of listening to How to Self-Publish Comics the most enjoyable?
Thorough, detailed, and worth taking notes on while listening. This book covers self-publishing from a very practical and professional standpoint. It doesn't meander around the topic, it gets to the facts and the reality of the situation, and assumes the reader wants to make a legitimate business out of comics. This is not for the faint of heart. The book itself even suggests that if you, the creator, is not business-minded yourself, that it may be in your best interest to hire someone to help you who is. As I mentioned, this is a serious book for serious creators who want to make it in the business of comics. I believe every aspiring creator who is in this business for the long-haul, and not just fulfilling a one-off childhood fantasy, needs this book (or audio book) in their library. The bonus section specifically for artists is a wonderful resource as well, and an encouraging reality check for artists who aspire to work for the big publishers.
What aspect of Kevin Kollinss performance would you have changed?
As for the overall quality of presentation, I'm not a big fan of the narrator. He sounds a lot like a news anchor reading from a teleprompter. Therefore, his cadence often feels like he's about to inform you that no witnesses have come forward with any new information, but the local authorities have assured they're doing everything they can to apprehend the suspect, believed to have been last seen at a Carl's Jr. just outside of Fresno. He also emphasizes some points unnecessarily, and fails to emphasize points that were clearly meant to be. This is mostly due to the very reporter-like cadence. It's not terrible, and I was able to follow along, but the lack of personality and variation made it difficult for much of the information to stick with me. I found myself needing to re-listen and take notes, because it was easy to loose concentration after listening for long periods of an hour or more. Very professional, and clear to understand, but not fun or engaging to listen to.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Why do so few creators know about this book? The information is so valuable!

    Title: Act One
    Subtitle: An Autobiography

Genres: Arts & Entertainment, Visual Arts
    Publisher's Summary:
Moss Hart's Act One, which Lincoln Center Theater presented in 2014 as a play written and directed by James Lapine, is one of the greatest American memoirs - a glorious memorial to a bygone age filled with all the wonder, drama, and heartbreak that surrounded Broadway in the early 20th century. Hart's story inspired a generation of theatergoers, dramatists, and readers everywhere as he eloquently chronicled his impoverished childhood and his long, determined struggle to reach the opening night of his first Broadway hit. Act One is the quintessential American success story.
    Members Reviews:
    Phenomenal!
Astonishing story of how this poor boy becomes a major playwright. Those people who think being in the entertainment business is glamorous or easy would do well to read this anxiety ridden, sometimes heartbreaking, often harrowing but ultimately uplifting story. one of the best autobiographies I've ever listened to. The narrator was perfection.
    Good but not great
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes, especially if you like theater. The story, about the early days of Broadway, is fascinating and Hart finds himself in all sorts of interesting situations.
What other book might you compare Act One to and why?
A little bit to Neil Simon's memoirs, especially in showing how playwriting actually happens.
What didnt you like about Jim Meskimens performance?
He was way too slow a reader, pauses too long. I had to listen to it at 1.5 speed and it still sounded normal.
Great Reading of a Great Broadway Story
Jim Meskimen's reading was exceptional. I never wavered a moment from thinking this was Moss Hart telling his story of struggle, perseverance, bitterness, audacity, talent and luck as a young playwright. He captured all of Hart's nuances, sounded like a 20th century New Yorker in tone and attitude, and seemed entirely in sync with Moss Hart's perspective and view of the theater world of the 1920s-1930s.
Much is written about developing "grit" and "perseverance" in young people. This story -- of a young man forced to leave school after 8th grade, making the most of his opportunities, wrestling with his own doubts and fears, reckoning with the soul destroying aspects of poverty, dusting himself off after being knocked down in humiliating ways -- is an inspiring lesson. A bit dated in how PG it all seems -- but the reader has the sense that those more risqué aspects of that world are omitted rather than sugarcoated in this memoir written in the 1950s. And having background understanding of and interest in 20tj century Broadway theater are probably essential in appreciating this book. But Jim Meskimen must get full credit for making this take of another era feel so alive and immediate and the audio book feeling like Moss Hart is right there with you in 2016, telling you what happened in that Broadway producer's crowded gritty Times Square office.
