Worst narrator I have found, great stories

My children and I love the Thornton Burgess "For Children" books. There are actually four, the Animal Book, the Bird Book, At the Seashore, and the Flower Book. We have read and re-read them all. Appropriate and fun for all ages.

But this narrator is really irritating. Nasal, a bit whiny, and with a very odd, almost mechanical, cadence. Not only is it a terrible performance, it is not even an adequate simple reading of the material.

We have waited a long time for this to be released by Audible, but it's going back. My kids and I agree that the text-to-speech reading of this on their old kindle is easier to listen to than this performance. This is the first time I have been disappointed and irritated enough to write a review.

Offer a real performance of such good material Audible!

Also, please realize, there are a lot of positive reviews here, but if you read them, they are for the material and more specifically the kindle editions, not the Audible editions! Really?

Most of the jokes are funny for kids.

As a kindergarten teacher, I use iPads with the Kindle App and my students LOVE using their finger to follow along in the book as I read aloud. I think this book is set at the perfect oral reading level for kindergarten and first, and it is right on level for second or third grade independent reading. About 80 percent of the jokes in this book are funny for kids.

These books are fantastic. My 6 year-old daughter thinks they're entertaining and has no idea that they're actually educational. She asks all kinds of questions about what words mean and why things happen. These TT books are really the only ones that open up a discussion like this. She used the word "economy" correctly recently. I know it's the TT stories that make these large concepts understandable.

Explains protectionism and how harmful it is to a young audience

It is written in an easy and enjoyable manner so that young children can grasp very complex issues in an entertaining way. My 7 year old and my 3 year old loved this book!!

Cute Cinderella-like tale with magic talking animals!

Maggie lives with her mean stepmother and step-siblings. She lives in a forest full of magic animals. So she is not surprised when a fish begins to talk to her. The fish asks her to let it go, and promises to give her one wish in exchange.

Maggie canât imagine eating a talking fish, and she releases it back into the lake. She is disappointed when the fish disappears without waiting to hear her wish. She whispers her wish anywayâto be part of a nicer familyâand is sure the wish wonât come true.

When her stepmother hears that Maggie let the fish go, she declares that Maggie is no longer welcome in their house. She locks her out just as a big storm is approaching.

This book was LOL funny. Truthful while I didn't agree with all the things the girls did, I could understand where they were coming from. It had been them and their mom since their dad had died 4 years before. I think their mom, left the girls out of the equation then tried to move to quickly to introduce them to her new man. My 12 year old granddaughter really enjoyed the book..

I thought this book was perfect for my son who was 8 at the time of purchase. We moved from Texas to Colorado and wanted him to have some insight as to where we were headed to. He shared this with his class in Texas and they all enjoyed reading over it as well.
