    Publisher's Summary:
Originally published in 1891, it may be difficult for modern readers to accept that there was still a relatively strong belief in vampires, in what might usually seem like an age of blossoming spiritual enlightenment. But the author, an otherwise celebrated figure in Theosophy, discusses not just the folklore of this famed monster, but he recounts first-hand tales of reported vampire attacks. Luckily, he isn't short of advice on how to prevent you and your loved ones from becoming one of this growing army of darkness! Perhaps a bit outdated, this essay is a must for theosophists, vampire-enthusiasts, and occultist alike!

This book was awesome, it answered many questions I had regarding prayer. I would recommend this book to family and friends
    Meh.
This book reads like a technical manual on how to pray. It's pretty boring and I didn't like it very much.

  • The Cosmic Breath Audiobook by Don Pendleton

    Title: The Cosmic Breath
Subtitle: Metaphysical Essays of Don Pendleton
    Author: Don Pendleton
    Narrator: Tim Danko
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 29 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 02-12-15
    Publisher: Linda Pendleton
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes
Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Religious Thought
    Publisher's Summary:
    The Cosmic Breath.
Is there a reason for the existence of the world? This is perhaps the most basic question of metaphysics.
Don Pendleton's metaphysical essays dramatically explore the human experience and the spiritual meaning of existence. In Don's inspirational examination of religion, science, and philosophy, his findings are thought provoking, inspiring, and perhaps even transformational for the true seeker.
Don Pendleton (1927-1995) was the creator of The Executioner: Mack Bolan series, Joe Copp, and the Ashton Ford Mystery series. He published more than 100 novels and has sold nearly 200 million copies worldwide in more than 25 languages. He wrote the nonfiction A Search for Meaning From the Surface of a Small Planet; and with his wife, Linda Pendleton, he cowrote the popular books To Dance With Angels and Whispers From the Soul: The Divine Dance of Consciousness.
    Members Reviews:
What a treat! Vintage Pendleton, but deeper.
Non-fiction essays, about metaphysics and life, by Don Pendleton, author of the Executioner series (38 books and more than 600 others in syndication through Ballantine--these essays were unexpected and extraordinarily well-versed.
I'm a graduate trained pastor / theologian with masters and doctoral work at old-line seminaries. I've spent some time doing additional work at a state-owned university. I also have four novels to my name. What impressed me was how Pendleton--despite being a "New Age" believer, for want of a better word--wrote and reasoned without prejudice.
In my mind, religious folks, new and old, as well as those who fashion themselves "spiritual but not religious," rarely pass as intellectually honest. There are some, to be sure. Pendleton, apparently without any formal training, showed a good grasp of the issues when writing about the meta issues in both spirtuality and religion.
I was pleased. I was surprised. The Mack Bolan series was over the top. His metaphysical essays--having the tone of a public lecture or teaching, but without the call to conversion--were a wonderful introduction to the late fiction writer's non-fiction books. I'll likely be reading the others.
    Recommended.

    Publisher's Summary:
By now it's a safe bet that you have at least heard of Scientology. Nine times out of ten what you have heard is negative. Very rarely do you ever hear something positive about the Church of Scientology or Scientologists. This often leads to a greater misunderstanding of Scientology, Scientologists and what the mission of the Church of Scientology actually is. Scientology is arguably the most controversial of all the religions. When you mention Scientology to someone you are almost guaranteed to get some kind of reaction or opinion. The Church of Scientology has been maligned and demonized by many detractors. But Scientologists themselves are passionate about their beliefs and defend Scientology with that very same passion. When it finally comes down to understand what Scientology is there is little if any objective information out there. It's all written from the perspective of detractors, supporters or people who just uninformed about Scientology and Scientologists in general. A new book, What Is Scientology - History, Beliefs, Rules, Secrets and Facts, will help shed some light on one of the most controversial topics of all time, Scientology. Look no further for one of the few objective accounts that will finally shed some light on the Church of Scientology. This book will help you better understand Scientology. It cuts out all the unhelpful chatter and helps you understand in simple terms exactly what Scientology is. This short audiobook will help answer the most important questions you might have about Scientology. Some of the more important questions include everything from the Scientology belief system, the History of Scientology, and why people join the Church of Scientology and much more. You will also have a greater understanding of why people hate Scientology and why former members speak out about it. For those of you looking to learn more about Scientology this is the book you are looking for.

If you want to be better informed get a bigger book
As a quick and concise introduction to this religion it works. If you want to be better informed get a bigger book. Or more than one. This is not a subject that can be covered in one book. But if you just want to learn if you might be interested in Scientology it is a good start. It gives the basics and a few other tidbits. If you curious about Scientology read it. If you're serious about joining Scientology find a more detailed book.

    Titre: L'enfance de Jésus
    Auteur: Joseph Ratzinger
    Narrateur: Sylvain Lhermitte
    Format: Unabridged
Durée: 4 hrs and 53 mins
    Langue: Français
    Date de publication: 12-22-14
    Éditeur: Saint-Léger productions
Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Religious Thought

Inspiring and tells a great story about where we should focus our lives
So well written that can't lay it down. Inspiring and tells a great story about where we should focus our lives....on God and others!
REAL Happiness is NOT being a millionaire!
I got to meet this amazing man, who lives in Colorado, a little over a week ago when he spoke at my book club. No big deal, no entourage, just he and his wife coming to talk about his life which created the book. If you want to hear about how hard work creates mega wealth - it's in here. If you want to hear about what happiness mega wealth creates - it's in here. If you want to know if God touches the successful - it's in here.
So after creating many, many millions of dollars for himself, getting an excellent education (both he and his wife have PhDs), having a family and being involved in a church - (wait until you read about that!) - he realized that making big deals was not enough! I sat there as Dr. Jackson spoke and made it clear that helping people in need is possible and important to each of us. No - don't send your money to some fund or write a check to help a third world country because 40% of the money Americans donate to these funds NEVER REACH THEIR INTENDED DESTINATION! Personal effort is the key - what you know, how you care, what you can give to others.
What Dr. Jackson created is the World's Largest Donator Project of medical supplies - supplies that are the overflow from companies in the US, machines that are not the newest versions but still work well, things we no longer need or want - to medical facilities in 150 countries around the world! They do not go into a country without an invitation. They do not pay bribes. They do not pay governments. They go to any country that has facilities that need medical supplies AFTER an assessment has been completed verifying the needs, what the doctors can use, and that none of the supplies will go into a black market. It is not simple or quick and the greedy need not apply!
When all of that has been accomplished - and this takes a while - the sponsoring group - yes, there has to be a group that is sponsoring and paying for the assessment (travel to, hotel, food, land transportation of some kind for the skilled assessor) in the country and this group must also pay for the shipping of the container(s) to the county. In the beginning, Dr. Jackson and his wife paid about $8,000 for each container they shipped - until they could no longer afford it.

What did you love best about Celestial Conversations?
This audio book has a great message. The healing messages that I heard in this audiobook have changed my attitude to be alive vibrant once again in love with life. Very good audiobook.
NOT MY USUAL GENRE-Received In Exchange For Review
What was one of the most memorable moments of Celestial Conversations?
This categorized as a Religion/Spiritual book, WAY outside my normal genre and would not have chosen it on my own. However, *I was offered a copy in exchange for my thoughts in review.*
This was an interesting listen. While I do not believe in many of the methods that the author does -such as vibrations, astrology, reincarnation, etc., she is able to eloquently describe how they apply to HER methodology.
Lo Ann Mayer explains her experience from her mother's death to opening and keeping a journal with questions directly to her. The first entry to her mother was answered by Mayer's own hand, however she is 'out of body' as she records what is coming through her mind. Only after the thoughts are recorded is Mayer able to come back and read her mother's reply. (It is not as complicated as I am making it sound.)
Mayer shares how these experiences continue and prepare her for emotional trials on earth and reveals her loved ones thoughts of the afterlife.
Whether a believer in eastern religions, or not, this book explores those and traditional western religions (I believe the author calls herself a Catholic) in a way that is caring and not offensive.
    Here is the Publisher's Summary.

What three words best describe Pam Doughertys performance?
I have not listened to Pam Dougherty before. I found her narration/performance VERY slow. I listened on a faster speed and it was much better. I'd have fallen asleep if I had listened at the regular speed - no judgement, just fact.
