    Publisher's Summary:
When Jane and Scarlett are approached by a producer who wants them to be on his new series, a "reality version of Sex and the City," they can hardly believe their luck. Their own show? Yes, please!
Soon Jane is TV's hottest star. Fame brings more than she ever imagined possible for a girl from Santa Barbara - free designer clothes, the choicest tables at the most exclusive clubs, invites to Hollywood premieres - and she's lapping up the VIP treatment with her eclectic entourage of new pals.
But those same friends who are always up for a wild night are also out for a piece of Jane's spotlight. In a city filled with people chasing after their dreams, it's not long before Jane wakes up to the reality that everyone wants something from her, and nothing is what it seems to be.
L.A. Candy is a deliciously entertaining novel about what it's like to come of age in Hollywood while starring in a reality TV show, written by a girl who has experienced it all firsthand: Lauren Conrad.

I'm too old to like this....
but I did anyway. Even read the follow up book. I'm actually looking forward to a third; just don't take it too seriously.
    Reality
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I liked that it was kind of based on LC's role in the Hills on MTV...It was what kept me interested.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
    Yes
    Any additional comments?
Great read for any reality tv junkie. I enjoyed it on a 19 hour drive...kept things interesting.
    Good..until the end..
I should probably give myself some time before reviewing, but I wont.
I'm a huge fan of The Hills, and this book is very similar, I found myself wondering who was who and if things really happened.
For this being Lauren's first book, it was very good, and her narrating was perfect.
My issue.. the ending. It ended so abruptly. Unless shes planning to make this a series (which should be listed) I'm left dumbfounded.
Almost as entertaining as the MTV garbage
What disappointed you about L.A. Candy?
L.A. Candy was an exact replica of Lauren Conrad's journey into MTV reality fame. All she did was turn "The Hills" into "L.A. Candy"- how creative... Being casted for a reality show full of blonde rich girls fighting over nonsensical things, does not qualify you for writing. This was not even entertaining.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Lauren Conrad?
    No
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from L.A. Candy?
I would make LC re-write this book from beginning to end. I think it would have been more successful if we got Lauren Conrad's first-hand account of how "The Hills" changed her life; instead of her pretending to be a young-fiction author re-writing the terrible scripts of her 'real life' in "The Hills".
    great
it was really good I liked it alot and cant wait till the other books come out!

    Critic Reviews:
"Ibbotson...gives life to characters of great depth and beautifully re-creates prewar Vienna and its surrounding countryside." (Booklist)
    Members Reviews:
    Poor Abridgement
This book was quite nicely read by Emilia Fox, but gets its low rating from me on account of the poor abridgement. It has been so savagely and insensitively cut that at times the story barely makes sense. Far too much has been taken out, and it jumps all over the place, making for a rather unsatisfactory experience if you have not read the original novel.
    Abridging Ibbotson is sacrilegous!
What disappointed you about A Song for Summer?
Despite my unending love for all of Eva Ibbotson's work, the audio abridgment of this one ripped the soul out of it. The reduction of gilded descriptions of a world verging on fairytale fantasy removes the very essence of Ibbotson's writing, making it almost cringey to listen to at places.
What was most disappointing about Eva Ibbotsons story?
Nothing is disappointing about the story, her writing is beautiful, it is simply the abridgment of it I abhor. If you listened to this with no prior knowledge of Ibbotson's writing, please do yourself the favour of reading her books, they are far, far more wonderful than this portrayed them.
How could the performance have been better?
    Make it unabridged!
    Wish it had been Unabridged
What disappointed you about A Song for Summer?
The stripping out of all the incidental notes, the character details to bring it down to an abridged form really did kill this tale for me. The little, "unnecessary" details removal took away the feeling one develops for Ibbotson's characters and the depth that the original text bestows on the lives of the cast.
What could Eva Ibbotson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Eva Ibbotson does a fine job - had it been the full tale I am sure I would have enjoyed it.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Overall the Narrator was pleasant enough. Her voice isn't as listenable as some of the other narrators I've heard but that is a personal preference.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
    Disappointment
    Any additional comments?
I look forward to if and when an unabridged copy of this becomes available.
    A Gentle, Uplifting Book
Would you consider the audio edition of A Song for Summer to be better than the print version?
There are not many books I would consider better as an audiobook than a print book, but this one just may be. Emilia Fox does this story just right. Her voice is perfect for the characters and the feel of the story and adds to the experience in every way.

    Story: Promising, Characters: Lacking
This was a cute 'lesbian awakening' or perhaps, 'bi awakening' since the main character never really decides on that one. The story itself was interesting, but I felt like the characters were lacking somewhat in emotional depth: or rather, that the emotion was not properly conveyed. There were several scenes where the main character was quite upset, but I didn't really feel sorry for her due to the way the story was written. Even though this was a young adult book, that didn't mean that the characters need be flat. I also felt as if the characters seemed younger than their ages (15-16) and that their attitudes felt them seem like younger people. People at this age tend to be extremely intense, at least from my experience, and the relationships and interactions felt pretty shallow and frivolous to me.
What's more, I had a lot of trouble with the narrator. While she did get into her work, the characters are supposed to be 15-16 and really she sounded more like a 12 year old. Her reading style made the few scattered curse words sound garishly misplaced. I this this contributed to the lack of emotional depth issue.
All that aside, it was a cute story, and someone else might very well love the narrator's way of conveying the story. I liked 'Annie on My Mind' much better, but I would still say this story is worth checking out if you don't have anything else in mind.
Narrated by a 12 year old
Story was pretty flimsy and light hearted. The characters lacked depth, I didn't really get invested in them because not very much was established. Ending was pretty lacking as well.
Very Good teenage lesbian awakening story!
At a Camp for gifted young teens a want to be archaeologists discovers her first crush. But are her budding feeling felt by the other girl? Or is it all in her head, come on the journey to find out.
No real strong feelings either way
Would you recommend Empress of the World to your friends? Why or why not?
No. I might suggest it to a younger-ish (the swearing might prevent me from suggesting it to the age of reader that I think would truly enjoy the story) reader or to an LGBTQ young adult reader.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I really struggled to listen to the performance. The character is supposed to be in high school, but the narrator's voice sounded so young that I kept picturing this 12 year old girl telling the story and it just didn't fit well. With a different story, I would have enjoyed the performance but with this book, I struggled to finish listening.
    Any additional comments?
Deciding on a headline for this review was quite the challenge--after listening to the book, I feel totally neutral. The story wasn't bad, there were some sweet moments, but it was just completely flat. There some books where I will think about the characters, the story, and the "what's next" for weeks after I finish... this book, as soon as the music started to play, I was ready to move on to my next book.

Now Paul has to decide how far he'll go to be one of the gang. A powerful follow-up to Alex Flinn's Spring 2001 debut novel, Breathing Underwater.
    Members Reviews:
I think my sophomores will like this book.
I was looking for a book that my sophomore students would enjoy reading. This book will do very well. I think. I've taught Breathing Underwater by Alex Flinn to seniors, and they really liked it and enjoyed reading it. I think my sophomores will be as intrigued by Breaking Point as my seniors were of Breathing Underwater.
    the elusive gold ring
Having been homeschooled, Paul Richmond is naturally apprehensive about returning to high school, particularly since he is less well-off than his ritzy classmates. He is picked on until a way out is offered by golden boy Charlie Good. In exchange for homework help, which gradually escales into antisocial acts, he will receive protection from the bullies. Dealing with the pain from his parents' divorce and his father's seeming rejection of him, Paul is unsure whether Charlie's friendship is genuine or simply based on what he can provide. Like "Shattering Glass" this book exploes what happens when an outcast hooks up with a popular teen with sociopathic tendencies. The language used by the characters is somewhat coarse, but not unusual for a teen novel published today.
Well-written and provocative, but not necessarily enjoyable
This book was well-written and provocative. The characters were realistic, ranging from the principal who cares only about his job and not at all about the students, the divorced parents who are too wrapped up in their own needs and desires to take care of their child, the hangers-on who wouldnï¿t quite be popular on their own, the brainy intellectual who is too smart to fit in. The book also succeeded well at answering the question of why someone would reach the breaking point ï¿ why would a high school student be willing to plant a bomb, bring a gun to school, terrorize their classmates.
However, I wouldnï¿t necessarily say that I enjoyed the book. I was fascinated by it, couldnï¿t put it down, and have thought about it a lot since then. But I donï¿t think I enjoyed it.
There were many reasons I didnï¿t enjoy it. The first is that many people in this book did truly horrible things that they just got away with. And the few really nice people in the book (Mr. and Mrs. Blanco and Binky come to mind) got nothing but pain and anguish.
The big reason, though, that I didnï¿t enjoy the book was that I never really liked the main character. I pitied him, and I understood why he made the (truly bad) decisions he made. However, I never liked him. He was too desperate for love, too willing to do whatever it took to be popular. Unlike Nick, in Flinnï¿s novel Breathing Underwater, who grew stronger with more insight through the story, Paul grew weaker and lost any insight that he had. I suspect this character may have had some good points, but they were never really well-developed.
After Columbine, I had vague hopes that perhaps people would realize the dangers of marginalizing people who were a little different. Instead, it seemed to give people more justification for excluding them, the idea somehow being that it was being a little different and not years of rejection that led to the violence.

    Great
i love this book the best of all times they should make a black version of dis book....
    Middle School 8th Grade
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I bought this audio to accompany the novel for my 8th grade Language Arts classes. Although I enjoy an audio book, The Juvie Three audio was a bit dry and didn't play up the characters personalities to make the story interesting.
What other book might you compare The Juvie Three to and why?
I would compare this book to The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. It has a lot of similarities. Both deal with boys coming of age, labeled as juvenile delinquents, making tough decisions that can be life changing, and ever changing relationships that many adolescents go through.
What didnt you like about Christopher Evan Welchs performance?
The book has a constant level of anticipation and excitement. Welch could have played up the character emotion more.
Was The Juvie Three worth the listening time?
Yes, it was great for my unsatisfactory and limited knowledge level readers. However, it was not enjoyed by my proficient and advanced level readers.
    Reading may be better here
The reader had a nice reading voice but not for this book. The kids were suppose to be harden juvies but the voice had them a little sissy-like. Wasn't impressed by story or reader.
Probably one of the best books I've read
This book is amazing like it is so suspension and I just love it I think anybody who loves like action and suspense should read this book it's just like you can't say much about it other then it's great and I really do recommend it to other people.
Good Read for Middle School Boys
If you could sum up The Juvie Three in three words, what would they be?
    Good quick read.
What other book might you compare The Juvie Three to and why?
None that I can think of. First son and, being a female, didn't read such books as a child.
What does Christopher Evan Welch bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Much more entertaining. My son does NOT like to read. He prefers to listen to the story and read along. He seems to get more enjoyment out of a book.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Healy finally remembered his accident.
    Any additional comments?
My son was hesistant about this required reading. However, by listening to the audible book, he enjoyed the book and I believe got more out of the story by listening to the reading.

Great Series but Titles Are Confusing
It was hard to jump from book 4, "Darkest Hour" to "Twilight" because there seemed to be a few things missing between the two books. Then I discovered that "Haunted" should be numbered book 5 and "Twilight" should be numbered book 6. These last two books do not even have the Mediator as part of the title no less the correct numbers. It would be much easier for fans to follow the series if the listings were more consistent.
Great end to a great series
A very good end to the Mediator series, the ending surprised me by how it came around.Great series fo the whole family.
    Old narrator is back!!!
So happy to continue the story with the right one reading for the characters. The previous book was rough just due to the new narrator. You made the right choice!
    incomplete
this book carries on with assumptions that you know what is happening when you don't. I agree with others it feels like there is a book missing from between this one and the previous one
My favorite book in the series
I loved this book when I read it; loved Jesse in particular. The audio version was good but I probably expected too much from the narrator who was good but not great.

    Great Job
This version of The Battle of Jericho is pretty good! I bought this audio version so that my students could follow along as they read the book in class. They love listening to it, and they get sad when I forget to bring my iPod to school because they enjoy it so much. J.D. Jackson reads at a good pace, and his voice is very enjoyable. This was a great purchase.
    One Book, One School
This book is amazing! This is my second time reading this novel! I absolutely love it! I am going to use this trilogy to improve literacy at my school. I am so excited to share this book with my entire school through One Book, One School.
    Eye Opening and Tear jerking
Would you consider the audio edition of The Battle of Jericho to be better than the print version?
I didn't read the print version.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Battle of Jericho?
When Dana was locked in the bathroom with Eddie
What does J. D. Jackson bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
The emotions and voices. The full experience as if it was a picture less movie.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me laugh most of the way through but at the end yes I did cried. It was very unexpected and sad.

    an old favorite!
This was the first fantasy book i have ever read... that being said, i may be slightly biased because the first time you enter the world of fantasy your life is changed forever! However i just finished listening to this book again as an adult and it was just as great as i remember... sometimes i would stop and laugh at myself for reading about talking wolves, but that goes along with the fantasy genre i guess. I love the characters in this book, and i also love the daringness of Clement-Davies to "go there"... this is not a cookie cutter everyone lives happily ever after read... far from it! If you are looking for something different then give it a try! its an easy read, and you won't regret it!
    AMAZING BOOK
This is by far my favorite book ever written. The way that it is written is sick amazing. I've read this book at least three times, but I was planning on buying the audio book. Clement-Davies is an amazing author, and I wish that they had his second book, Fell. But The sight is a heart gripping book. If you are fainthearted, this wouldn't be the best book ever. I think i might've cried in it. Sadly, i dislike the magic part of it. i didn't like that too much. THE ANIMALS TALK BTW
If you love wolves, adventure, if you can stand death, if you can stand a lot of characters (i had to write them all down, lol), if you LOVE suspense, THIS IS THE BEST BOOK YOU WILL EVER READ!!!!
    love this book!!!
loved this book. remember every detail! loves wolves in general and this story was awesome!
    one of my favorites
I've looked this book since I was in high school now 26 I love it even more the narrator is amazing you won't be disappointed
    Really really long
The weird quasi mysticism and if I know myself then I have power over all undertones aside. This book is just so very long. I would say over half is unnecessary adjectives and entire chapters go by where nothing really happens and doesn't impact the story at all. Guy reading the book did a good job tho!

Seventeen-year-old Leslie knows nothing of faeries or their intrigues. When she is attracted to an eerily beautiful tattoo of eyes and wings, all she knows is that she has to have it, convinced it is a tangible symbol of changes she desperately craves for her own life.
The tattoo does bring changes - not the kind Leslie has dreamed of, but sinister, compelling changes that are more than symbolic. Those changes will bind Leslie and Irial together, drawing Leslie deeper and deeper into the faery world, unable to resist its allures, and helpless to withstand its perils.

    Best book in the series
I was recently introduced to the fairy-focused Wicked Lovely series and have now listened to the first four books. I can honestly say that Ink Exchange, which is the second book in the Wicked Lovely series, is the best book in this series. Ink Exchange delves into the inner working of the dark fairy court. Melissa Marr creates a rich background for both Niall and Irial while highlighting the dark court. In the process of creating a background for Niall and Irial, Marr creates the two strongest characters in this series. Niall and Irial are fantastic because they have lived life but are not broken by it (hopefully). Ink Exchange, and the Wicked Lovely series as a whole, does deal with more mature topics than the age group recommended for this book. I AM NOT suggesting that preteens and teens stay away from the books in this series. I AM suggesting that parents might enjoy reading these books with their kids and discussing the characters and the choices they make.
    average
There's not much to say is wrong with this book- the author is a compelling storyteller, the plot developed, the characters real and complex, the narrator is good- but nothing about it resonates. Perhaps it's just that I don't feel the fascination about tatoos or because I've never been drawn in by the drug scene, but whatever it is, the book is quite good and entirely forgettable. If you're into tortured souls and broken homes, have a whack at it- it might resonate with you, but if not, its just a way to pass the time. Still, I'd go on reading the author. She's excellent.
    dark and enthralling
good book. darker than the first, and centers around the dark court instead of the summer and winter courts. it was positively enthralling.
    Enjoyable but Simplistic
Ink Exchange was well written and the narration was quite good. However, while the book constantly refers to the characters dark nature, there's very little real depth to back up those natures.
