    Publisher's Summary:
From Julie Murphy, the New York Times best-selling author of Dumplin' and Side Effects May Vary, comes another fearless heroine, Ramona Blue, in a gorgeously evocative novel about family, friendship, and how sometimes love can be more fluid than you first think. Perfect for fans of Rainbow Rowell and Morgan Matson.
Ramona was only five years old when Hurricane Katrina changed her life forever.
Since then it's been Ramona and her family against the world. Standing over six feet tall, with unmistakable blue hair, Ramona is sure of three things: She likes girls, she's fiercely devoted to her family, and she knows she's destined for something bigger than the trailer she calls home in Eulogy, Mississippi. But juggling multiple jobs, her flaky mom, and her well-meaning but ineffectual dad forces her to be the adult of the family. Now, with her sister, Hattie, pregnant, responsibility weighs more heavily than ever.
The return of her childhood friend Freddie brings a welcome distraction. Ramona's friendship with the former competitive swimmer picks up exactly where it left off, and soon he's talked her into joining him for laps at the pool. But as Ramona falls in love with swimming, her feelings for Freddie begin to shift, too, which is the last thing she expected. With her growing affection for Freddie making her question her sexual identity, Ramona begins to wonder if perhaps she likes girls and guys or if this new attraction is just a fluke. Either way, Ramona will discover that for her, life and love are more fluid than they seem.

    excellent
the storyline was slow in the beginning but it kept me interested to see how things would up even though it is a typical boy gets girl story which I love. definitely a good read.
    A bit slow
I enjoyed the story line even though it is classic girl meets boy. The journey of finally reaching the anticipated out come was slow and long.
    Loved it!
Loved how simple and yet profoundly complex this love story was and how true to life it seemed.

If you are a Twilight fan, you would enjoy this story.
After reading reviews, I felt that I needed my own opinion . I found the ability (conduit) to be an interesting concept. Plenty of characters, though they lacked descriptive characterization. I did find typo's and other mistakes, I didn't let that get in the way of my reading. I could easily figure out what was being said. This book definitely reminded me of "Twilight". The story starts off slow, but the further I read, it became more entertaining. Kira moves back to South Carolina to attend high school. On her first day, she meets Luke and his friends. and notices a boy named Tristan. Luke doesn't like him. Kira wonders why. Over time, Kira and Tristan begins to see each other despite disapproval from others. Secrets eventually come out and Kira discovers that she has an ability (conduit) that could destroy Tristan. Will this ability be the downfall of their relationship? I will continue to read this series. I hope in future books, the characters will be more developed and have more details regarding her ability and what choices she will make with Tristan and Luke. Cheers!!
Pretty standard YA, but not a bad read.
This book needs further editing and proofreading. It has the standard YA components: teen angst, a love triangle, and a stubborn Heroine. (Example= "Luke didn't want her spending time with Tristan, and even Tristan didn't want her spending time with Tristan, so she decided there was only one thing to do: spend more time around Tristan." I do have to admit, though, that the Heroine didn't whine as much as most YA Heroines.
Nothing real special about this Paranormal, but it wasn't a bad read for me. I doubt that I'll continue the series, but I still give it an "OK", 3-1/4 Star.
Light hearted story that is PG
This story seemed like an echo of Twilight which features a girl in love with a vampire and even the lunch room scene where the misfits or vampires are seated on their own and the other kids look on longingly at them is the same. There were subtle differences and then typical love triangle happens which was predictable. I thought that Kira was a pretty cool character who was not fazed when her secrets were revealed and took the news much better than most people would have. Tristan is the typical bad boy who wants to be good.

    a meh type of story.
not really a memorable story. good read if bored. aimed at young girls more than anything with the sappy love story. the brother was more annoying than anything. the story said the kid had adhd but acted like he had mild autism.
The Edge of Bored to Tears
What was most disappointing about Jeff Giless story?
This book is Twilight's younger, less adorable brother. If you want insta-love, a discount Edward Cullens (but with the same amount of brooding), and a slow descent into a could-have-been amazing story, this book is for you.
How could the performance have been better?
YES! She was so monotone, I found myself zoning out.

Roxanne really puts dinner life into this book.
I just have to say that it feels strange that Dan Wells writes teenage girls so well, so I'll give a lot of credit to the narrator, she did a great job.
    Fun-tastic!
Dan has hit his stride with Ones and Series! Great characters, exciting plot, an exciting look at our future tech, and one weird conversation about religion. not sure it was relevant. read this series, it's really good!
    Fun continuation of the series
Story fun! World is more fleshed out. Fun, well defined characters. Reader still struggles with accents!

    Language: English
    Release date: 02-07-17
    Publisher: Hachette Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 7 votes
    Genres: Teens, Romance & Friendship
    Publisher's Summary:
In the vein of It's Kind of a Funny Story and All the Bright Places comes a captivating, immersive exploration of life with mental illness.
For 16-year-old Mel Hannigan, bipolar disorder makes life unpredictable. Her latest struggle is balancing her growing feelings in a new relationship with her instinct to conceal her diagnosis by keeping everyone at arm's length. But when a former friend confronts Mel with the truth about the way their relationship ended, deeply buried secrets threaten to come out and upend her shaky equilibrium.
As the walls of Mel's compartmentalized world crumble, she fears the worst - that no one will accept her if they discover what she's been hiding. But would her friends really abandon her if they learned the truth? More importantly, can Mel bring herself to risk everything to find out?
In A Tragic Kind of Wonderful, Eric Lindstrom, author of the critically acclaimed Not If I See You First, examines the fear that keeps us from exposing our true selves and the courage it takes to be loved for who we really are.
    Critic Reviews:
"The portrayal of Mel's bipolar disorder is nuanced and reads true to life. Her fear of rejection will be familiar to teenagers, whether they're acquainted with mental illness or not, making it an important gateway to self-acceptance and understanding of others. An intimate and affecting portrait of mental illness helmed by an achingly real protagonist." (Kirkus Reviews)
"Lindstrom's compelling novel is rich in clinical detail, which is nicely integrated into the plot, ensuring the novel is never didactic but always dramatic.... Readers will find Mel's story always absorbing and gain insight into her troubling disorder. Those who enjoy this fine novel will also enjoy Jennifer Niven's All the Bright Places (2015)." (Booklist)
"An engaging and fast-moving plot that foregrounds Mel as a person who maintains a strong ethic of kindness even and especially when [she's] down, making her a bipolar poster child fully worthy of reader sympathy." (Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books)
    Members Reviews:
    A Look at Bipolar Disorder
I read this author's first book, "Not if I see you First", last year and loved his ability to get inside the heads and hearts of his characters.
    |A Tragic Kind of Wonderful" is a compulsively readable book, with a protagonist who lives with bipolar disorder. Several of my friends also live with it, and while I know it manifests itself in different ways, Lindstrom's character shows what it's like in a way I've never been able to fully understand before reading it.
The one drawback I found to this story was that it's almost always written in present-tense, even when the events are in the past. As a result, the first couple of chapters are confusing and disorienting.
But overall, this is a strong performance of a strong book about friendship, loyalty, forgiveness, and mental illness.
Well worth your time and credit.

    Title: Love and First Sight
    Author: Josh Sundquist
    Narrator: Pat Young
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 6 hrs and 25 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 01-03-17
    Publisher: Hachette Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 41 votes
    Genres: Teens, Romance & Friendship
    Publisher's Summary:
In his debut novel, YouTube personality and author of We Should Hang Out Sometime Josh Sundquist explores the nature of love, trust, and romantic attraction.
On his first day at a new school, blind 16-year-old Will Porter accidentally groped a girl on the stairs, sat on another student in the cafeteria, and somehow drove a classmate to tears. High school can only go up from here, right?
As Will starts to find his footing, he develops a crush on a charming, quiet girl named Cecily. Then an unprecedented opportunity arises: an experimental surgery that could give Will eyesight for the first time in his life. But learning to see is more difficult than Will ever imagined, and he soon discovers that the sighted world has been keeping secrets. It turns out Cecily doesn't meet traditional definitions of beauty - in fact everything he'd heard about her appearance was a lie engineered by their so-called friends to get the two of them together. Does it matter what Cecily looks like? No, not really. But then why does Will feel so betrayed?
Told with humor and breathtaking poignancy, Love and First Sight is a story about how we relate to each other and the world around us.
    Critic Reviews:
"[Narrator Pat] Young's voicing of the story's cast - Will's hovering mother, his insightful English teacher, the kids on the quiz team - enhances Sundquist's deft characterizations. In the audio format, the accounts of Will's world encourage listeners to reflect on their own sensory awareness. Add the well-developed romantic theme, and this is a perfect listening experience." Great diversity and message. Super cute read!
The story was so fantastic! I loved that the story showcased multiple facets of diversity. It was so cute and the narrator did a good job with it. if I had any complaint about this audio book it would be the weird music at the beginning and end.
    Meh and First Sight
This was a cute story with a tough second act. I wouldn't read it again, but it's an easy and quick listen.
    Clever c:
It was a sweet story definitely would and will listen to it again. the prospect of the issues really lighten a new way of thinking.
    Poorly Researched and Insanely Insensitive
This was a waste of a credit and I have returned it.
A bit about the narrator: The Italian doctor sounded like Dracula. His voice just wasn't pleasant to me. This is, of course, totally a matter of preference.
I thought about giving this book a two-star rating because I do like Josh Sundquist and think he's a great YouTuber and has always been pretty good at story telling. Unfortunately, I think he should stick to telling true stories instead of writing fiction.
I took issue with a lot of things in this book. One of the biggest issues I have with the book is that Josh literally stole a character from Harry Potter. There is a character named Hermione, goes by Ion, who has frizzy brown hair and is one of the smartest students in the school. I honestly can't believe that made it past an editor because that's a blatant, unoriginal rip-off. I mean, the least he could do is write his own characters.
The second thing that I took issue with is that I don't think Josh researched the blind community very well. At one point Will mentions that he doesn't know why his cane is called a white cane if the people who use it can't see the color.

    love this story
oh what a beautiful, beautiful story. it must have been so difficult to writte; staying belevably inside Flora's head so that we could experience her world with her. I hope the author loves this work too. I hope it holds a special place. I will be back here again in the future to experience Flora's world again
    INGENIOUS
GREAT BASIC IDEA - ANTEROGRADE AMNESIA - EXPLORED AND WOVEN INTO A FASCINATING,IMAGINATIVE AND SUSPENSEFUL NOVEL.MS BARR IS A FINE WRITER
Thought provoking, with gentle storyline tweaks which made me think more than I expected!
Loved it's gentle comment on what makes a life worth living. This is one of those books which worm into your head and makes you ponder what makes you you. Highly recommended. I found the way the narrator speaks in the first chapter a little irritating but this will change (and the changes make sense with the story line :-)
Completed within a couple of days
I was unsure once I listened to the first page or two but quickly loved it. Heart breaking, sadness, friendship, great story
    Tedious In the extreme
After reading the rave reviews I tried to persevere with this book I really did but it was just sooooo boring. I listened to seven mind numbingly boring and repetitive chapters and I couldn't bear another second. Maybe I didn't listen for long enough, and maybe it would have improved, but I struggled so badly to get into it, that I had a feeling of dread whenever I thought about listening to any more of it. Why anyone thought it was tolerable, let alone good, defies me. Definitely a book for teenagers, and I am most certainly not a teenager. Hated the narration, hated the story, hated it all. Sorry Emily but this was a big fat no from me.

    leaves you wanting more
this book definitely left you wanting more like the first one can't wait for book number 3. the characters are well-developed and identifiable with. this story felt like it could have been missing a better climax so hopefully book 3 will fill in where Book 2 might be lacking. Still giving it 5 stars
    Great sequel
I truly loved it. I don't review things well. The book just kind of picks up where it left off. More mysteries, etc. I hope there's another book. If you enjoyed the first book, I'd say this is of the same quality.
