Excellent Book

This is one of the best books I have ever read. The author pulls you in from the first and you can't wait to read the next of the series. Excellent use of life experiences and learning from them.

Pained for Madison

I was truly pained for Madison in this story, and I felt that her mother and grandmother in particular had "fallen down on the job" in spite of their Christian legacy so emphasized in the earlier books in the series. (Disclaimer at this point: my eldest daughter is only 8 -- someone might want to ask me if I still agree in another 8 years! I know that dealing with teenagers is hard.) First of all, even in the other books some mention has been made of Madison and Luke. So when she's suddenly changing, and that right after Luke leaves for college, why isn't anyone trying to ask her if that has anything to do with it? I remember from my own teen years not wanting to talk to my mother about things like boys, but in Madison's case, what about her grandmother? or Rick? or Kelly? Where are the youth leaders from the church; are they not trying to get close to the teens to really help them?

Second, I think Madison's mother and father should have had the guts to tell her straight out the message she was sending with her clothes, the message that she is a prostitute, is available for men's use--but they should have told her long ago, in conversing about these teen magazines! The magazines are readily available; I've even skimmed some myself in public libraries. The parents should long before, even if Madison didn't appear to have issues with dress, have talked with her about what she was seeing in those magazines, about fashions and the messages they convey. The same for other contents of the magazines, the contents about diet, the image of the super-skinny models, likely the magazines even offered "advice" for dating and relationships, but since none of the magazines were Christian, based on Biblical principles, the girls (Luke's sister included) should have been getting direction from parents, church youth leaders, etc to evaluate the things they were reading. Madison's dad had a great opportunity when she came down dressed that way for their "date" -- why didn't he say, "If you go dressed like that, we will give the impression that I as an older man am sexually abusing a teenager.

GREAT book

Trial by Fire is a book that will capture your attention from the first page.. Patience Prence shares Bible scripture to back up her take on the End Times. Her characters seem so real and I was rooting for them throughout the book. I enjoyed the interaction between Brock Summer and Copperhead. This young lady (Copperhead) had to deal with what she thought was real by listening to people instead of reading the scripture. Brock was so patient with her but firm when it was needed.

Ms. Prenceâs books are well written, exciting and kept me reading until the end. I always hate to come to the end of a great book and this one doesnât disappoint.

If you havenât read SCARS I recommend you do so. As with SCARS, I do highly recommend Trail by Fire.

Are you ready?

If you have questions about the end times, about the 7 years tribulation, pick up this book and Patience's first book Scars. Each book provides events that will take place during the tribulation and how different people handle the choice for Jesus or satan, as each of us will have to make if we are still here during this time. I found these books easy to read and understand without having to have extensive knowledge of biblical events. They are great books that address situations and how the average person will deal with the situation. I highly recommend them!!

Buy this book now, before it sells out!

Patience Prence accomplished what I thought could not be done. She overshadowed her SCARS novel with her latest Bible fact based fiction by far. If you aren't yet a believer of the inestible truth of Biblical ancient prophesy unfolding in our lifetime, you will be. By quoting scripture that supports the storyline makes it hard to believe it's fiction. A quick read, because once you start this story, you won't be able to put it down. We'll done Patience, good and faithful servant.

Trial by Fire

Ended beautifully, only I wanted more. I know this is fiction but some actually think angels married women and produced giants, but of course that isn't scripture. That is man's interpretation. I enjoyed reading of the faithful, chosen and elect. I hope there is another book coming soon.

Another wonderful book!

This is the second book of Ms Prence's that I have read. It tells of a time that is soon to come, but one which the world will not understand. I pray that many of you will come to know the Lord before that day.

This kept me listening!

Shadow of Regret is a sweet, clean Christian historical romance. This story was really good. I finished it in one day. The story starts with Quinn suffering a tragic loss that sets his world off kilter and basically kills his faith. It seems as if nothing will set him back on the right track until Rose comes along. She is so in love with him and is determined to help him find his way again. Faith does play an important part in this book, but it's done in a way that doesn't feel like it is shoved down your throat.

This was a short, but very good story. I kept making the dogs walk farther, so that I could listen longer (no dogs were harmed in the making of this review). I was totally invested in the story and the characters. The tension that built between the two was sweet and sometimes funny. The narration by Tom Jordan was awesome. This was my first audio book narrated by him. In my opinion, he ranks right up there with Sebastian York. A good time all the way around!

Fallen Angels

The Shadow series is set in post-Civil War Abilene, Kansas, after the cattle drives have been banned from turning the town into a 3-ring and dangerous circus. Now settlers are moving in with families, bringing civilization and religion. Two of these families and their friends are initially highlighted, the daughters of one family, the sons of the other, as the girls reach young-womanhood and the boys become men. The daily struggles of pumping water for drinking, cooking and cleaning; hitching horses to wagons or currying, saddling, riding them; appropriate attire and behavior--all these details are attended to scrupulously as interesting backgrounds and plots emerge.

I have had the privilege to read/hear [AUDIO] each of these well-narrated stories in order and certainly each enhances the depth of the next, but if one picks up any of them the tale will remain rich and rewarding with strong, faith-based values imparted as the foibles of mankind cripple or aid the courtship which is the point but not always the focus of each.

Book 3 gives us a glimpse of the seamier side of life in the wild west and doesn't shrink from the realities of how far a man or woman can fall before seeking redemption. But the key IS the redemption, with a plot worthy of a Lone Ranger episode and characters whom you care about.

Such a Wonderful Story About Love & Moving Forward

Shadow of Regret was so good. It was bittersweet at first and very endearing. I loved Martha but also Rose. Rose has always revolved around Quinn and I felt they were perfect together. But I did miss Martha. I enjoy the quality of Barbara Goss's books. She writes very well and her stories have meaning. They're clean and the characters are well-rounded. An excellent listen although I missed book two in the series. I was familiar with most characters but I would listen to the whole series in order.

Tom Jordan's narration was so so good.

Good story

I loved the Secret to Hummingbird Cake, the author's first book, and was eagerly awaiting her second novel. It didn't disappoint. While it took me a little bit to get into the story, once I did, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters were well written, and while their relational communication issues bothered me (just talk to each other already!) as well as some of their treatment of faith, overall, a delightful read that definitely had me chuckling in a few places, and eagerly awaiting the next novel.

Please note, this novel isn't connected to the previous one. It is a stand alone.

Heart-warming and funny, this tale proves to be a more-than-satisfactory read!

I simply adored this absolutely heart-warming story. Well written with great characters, it kept me fully engaged and laughing out loud. Georgia should have her own series! If you need some laughs or just the satisfaction of a well-spun yarn, you can't go wrong with The Sweet Smell of Magnolias. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

Loved it!!! This book has characters are familiar, you seem to know these people. Great read about true friendship, caring for others and never give up on true love! I laughed, I cried and loved the ending! Can't wait for the next book!

Fabulous Book

This book was more emotional than I thought! The description of what someone goes through with cancer was so in depth and so eye opening. It made me realize what cancer patients really go through! I loved the characters, the story and most of all the meaning behind the story!

Enjoyable

It was written very well. I also love all the connections there is if you pay attention. I also absolutely love the ending.

Not my favorite...

I just couldn't handle the main character. She was too weak-willed and mousy for me. Who on earth wouldn't tell their husband or family that they have cancer? At the beginning they're all narcissistic, self-centered, selfish people who I spent the whole book despising. And of course, at the end, they all do a 180 and turn into loving, appreciative people. Maybe others will get something out of it, but for me, it was a bit of a dud.

ONE OF A KIND NOVEL HAS IT ALL

Mystery, humor, angst, tragedy, and earthy reality combine to make this book so excellent, you will ponder over it for a long time. Pieces of the plot will provoke you to wonder about the facts here. Is it based on a true story. Values and events expressed in The Wandering Tree seem like they must be true. The author has a talented way with words, and his imagery stays in my head, Disguised within "tough growing up," vignettes in the story invoke Mark Twain, while deep delving into societal values and attitudes is brilliant. This book goes in my personal Library of Great Books.

Keepers of the Sword

Really enjoyed it! Excellent narrator. Adventurous and very intense. Shows such faith in God in the story of those who were called to do His will. Friendships strong and faithful and acceptance of different cultures. Loved the twist and turns especially at the ending. Excellent Audiobook. Recommended reading.

Amazing story with best narrator

near the middle I started looking to buy from this author narrator combo and found nothing. I am hoping they are working on something else as I consider this one of the best audible books I have ever heard. did not want it to end. More, please.

This is a good clean series, inspirational to lose weight and keep the faith, but lacks a little depth and narrators are just readers, all 3 of them. I wonder if it would bring more to the story if the narration was better, hmmm...
