Critic Reviews:
Peril offers captivating action, yet it is clean, direct, and solid in its dealing with moral issues. An exceptional start to what promises to be a captivating series. (Ann Hibbard, Home Educating Magazine)

Just the Right Book!
Suzanne's blog has a tag-line of Fiction with a Twist. She mentions that most of her writing has unexpected twists in it. That's certainly the case with Peril. A NASCAR champion, a beautiful operative, a King in need of protection: just the elements of a juicy suspense. But Peril surprised me. The characters, beneath the surface, show amazing depth and encounter the same type of life-altering situations that normal people deal with.
I found the theme of fear ironic for a story where the main character acts as a body guard. I know better than to assume anything with the excellence in Christian Fiction that we have today. Yet I still bought into a lure into shallow waters. On the face of it, Lady Anne appeared amazing, complete, having it all together. Yet within, she shook with worry, discussed things with the Lord, and insisted on her own control.
The sort-of hero, stock car champion Stuart Jackson, also offered an ingenious irony: the emptiness of a Lord-less life. Money, popularity, power, physical pleasure, none of it is enough to satisfy the man and fill the hole he feels in his life. He believes the beauty of Lady Anne will take care of everything, but it's really the peace she has that he craves.
I thoroughly enjoyed Peril. It proved exactly the type of read I needed for a relaxing weekend trip! If you enjoy twisted suspense, like NASCAR, (loved all of the references!) or are looking for a tightly-written, satisfying read, Peril should delight you as well!
A real page Turner!
This was one of the most exciting books I've ever read. It's definitely a must read for anyone wanting to escape for awhile. And it's a Christian book! So good!
Better than most
I chose 4 stars b/c I had to finish it in one day. I was discouraged by editing errors and over use of 'enhanced' in the first chapter. Islamic terrorists, NASCAR info, physiological neurologic developments and believable characters kept me going. Good beach reading.
A Thrill Ride
A thrilling tale of mystery and mayhem that pulls you along at NASCAR speeds. I was leery to pick it up since it wasn't my usual cup of tea, but once i did, I couldn't put it down. Suzanne Hartmann pulled together an unusual mix of characters but made each one real and alive.
