The second of the trilogy finds Anna Larson's Inn at Shining Waters beginning to become a place of peace and contentment for her guests, but her daughter's personal problems make Anna wonder what she could have done differently. Through it all Anna relies on her Christian faith and the support of her new husband and mother-in law to keep her grounded. It is a well written Christian novel, with romance and family dynamics being put to the test. The Oregon coastal setting in close to home for me so the scene come to life and are real.

Second book of a trilogy. I read both the first and second book in one day and started immediately on the third book. It is a wonderful look at how we can renew ourselves and discard hatred and hurts through forgiveness. The trilogy tells the story of three women and the ups and downs of their lives and how they healed. I loved all three books.

Relaxing and pleasant

River's Call (The Inn at Shining Waters) was a fast pace read although the book was all about the slower pace of life many of us would embrace. The subject matters addressed were the prejudices and misconceptions people carry with them concerning various ethnic backgrounds and lifestyles, and how true, untethered love of a parent or spouse can truly have wonderful consequences for us, if we allow it to. I felt it was beautifully and lovingly accomplished. When I came to the end of the book, I wanted the next in the series. I enjoyed it tremendously!!

Enjoyed the book but Really Good if doing with the Bible Study

Good book - not one I would normally have read but really enjoyed reading the books in conjunction with the Bible Study that goes along with it.

Such an adorable princess romance!

I am thoroughly hooked on this series of audiobooks. It is so charming, and it makes me feel happy. This short audiobook (almost 3 hours) is "clean" - no sex, just kissing. There not even a mention of sex, and the two primary characters are virgins in their 20's. Somehow, this situation feels totally plausible while listening to this story.

There was barely any mention of God, so I do not classify it as a Christian romance, although Christian romance readers would probably like it. I would call it a sweet contemporary romance with a fairy tale plot.

This Cinderella story has a man (Ethan) as the downtrodden, self-sacrificing good guy who is badgered by his two ungrateful younger stepbrothers. Ethan's parents had died when he was young. Then, when he was 19, his unpleasant stepmother died, and he volunteered to become guardian to his 9- and 10-year-old stepbrothers, delaying his dream of becoming a veterinarian. He meets Mia, a princess of a small European kingdom. She is visiting her sister Alessandra, who is engaged to an ex-Navy SEAL who runs a ranch in Texas (see Book 1). Mia has been unlucky in love and does not want to rush into a relationship with the wrong man again. Both Mia and Ethan are so likeable and have admirable characteristics.

Although this audiobook is not perfect, I was highly entertained by it. There are short bits of awkward wording, and the writing might be a bit too simplistic sometimes. However, this story really cheered me up. Mia and Ethan were so sweet together!

The narrator was pretty good. To my Southern ears, her Texas accents seemed very authentic. She did not attempt to give the European princess a European accent, but I was able to ignore that snafu after a short time. She was passable at men's voices. She occasionally made the book sound a little too hokey with how she sometimes pauses and overemphasizes certain words in a sentence. Still, I think the narrator has a very pleasant voice, and I was mostly pleased by her performance.

This series is best listened to in order because there are a couple of story arcs that stretch beyond each novella. Also, some characters from Book 1 get a couple of chapters in this Book 2, which I enjoyed. I also liked how the last scene of the audiobook is a teaser for what will happen in the next novella.

The best part for last.

The Selfless Act by Wanda Brunstetter is the last book in the series of the, THE AMISH MILLIONAIRE and you will find it to make you very happy about the way that it has ended. I know you have enjoyed the first five parts so I know you are going to hate to see this being the last.

I for one will hope that more about all the ones is these books will come out in another book but this time just one book about everyone. I want to ask that everyone that has this series makes a review on each or at least on all six books as one. The English Son is a 6 part series that is written by Wanda Brunstetter and Jean Brunstetter.

I was going to write a review for each book, but I felt that I needed to finish each book before I could really write what needed to be said. When I first started reading this series I was taken right from the beginning and knew that I was going to really love it. I however, wasn't prepared for the the twist that were taken in this heartwarming series.

In the first book we meet Joel a young Amish man you has been living in the English world for some time now. Joel has fallen in love with a lovely girl. who he plans to marry. When Joel gets his priority's mixed up it causes friction between his Amish family, his girlfriend and Joel may find himself alone and angry.

Wanda and Jean do a remarkable job bringing each character to life for you to fall in love with and become frustrated with. I really enjoyed reading each book and couldn't wait for the other to come out. I hope to see further writings by this duel.

The Amish Millionaire is a series of six books about an Amish family who copes with the death of the father and the distribution of assets. One of the children has gone out to the world and wanted his money right away. They can't find the will which makes it harder. Like all family, there is problems and solutions. I adored all six of these books and found the series quite enjoyable.

If you are like me though

Pilgrim's Progress is a classic that is just as powerful today as it was when it was first written in 1678. If you are like me though, you have struggled with the reading of this beloved book. The way we speak now has changed a lot through the years and sometimes picking up a book from a different time period can be challenging to read.

I am excited to tell you about the new publication of Pilgrim's Progress. It is updated, in Modern English, but still has the original illustrations. This made such a huge difference for me. What an enjoyable read it was! I did find myself, especially at the beginning, comparing it to the original text. I wanted to see for myself how much it was changed and amazingly, very little. It's tweaked just enough to make it easy to read for today's readers.

Another very unique feature about this new publication is the Bible verses that are added to the text. I'm not talking about just a Bible reference either. Entire verses including where they are found in the Bible are throughout the whole book. For example:

In my dream, I saw a man clothed with rags standing in a certain place, with his face turned from his own house. In his hand he held a book, and he bore a great burden upon his back. (For my iniquities are gone over my head; as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me. -Psalm 38:4)

This was such an amazing aspect for me. It enriched the reading in such a spiritual way. I applaud whoever came up with the idea to do this. I'm sure it took a lot of work and study, but it was well worth it.

Pilgrim's Progress is not a quick read. It is something to be savored. To be meditated upon. I found myself reading some of the lines/paragraphs more than once. Then I would sit and close my eyes and think on it. If you allow it, it can speak volumes to your heart.

Great read

I enjoyed the "realness" of this book. The author captured the up to date problems of today.

The story is ok

This is my second book to read by Lauraine Snelling. The stories are not bad, and I very much appreciate that they are not romance novels! The reader was pretty good on most of the female characters, but not on the men. Ken, in particular, sounded like he was trying very hard not to vomit when he talked. I would much rather the reader did not change voices at all - this was a grating distraction at times.

Great Read

An excellent book. Well written, intriguing and simply a great read. This book grabbed me from the first page and kept me entertained throughout. Even through it was all about the circus, I thought Kristy Cambron had enough diversity and intrigue to keep the reader thoroughly entertained, while at the same time taking time to lay out the plot in an insightful manner. It was one of those books that I hated to end. Great book! Can't wait for more from this author.

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT !!!!

I purchased this book because I was hoping it would contain details about the Big Top back in its hay day. I thoroughly enjoyed Water for the Elephants and all the historical details it provided about life in the circus. If you're looking for that in this story, you'll be severely disappointed. Hardly any interesting details where included although it does follow the life of John and Mabel Ringling. The storytelling was written like a harlequin novel without the bodice wripping effect. This book also contain one cliche after another.... Ridiculously written.

Grace and love

This story pulls you in. It is a sweeping saga that tells the untold story of the circus. It deals with deep emotions and decisions that change the lives of the characters. Mabel is an uncommon woman. The effect she has on each character is what holds the story together. I couldn't stop listening!

The only reason I am giving this 4 stars is because of the unlikely Marine character that is central to the book. Military officers do not act in the manner depicted and to my knowledge there are no Marine officers with his type of background, but it is fiction...

A fun fictionalization of what missiologists are seeing happening around the world!

I was given this book as a gift from one of my colleagues at work and I read it in four days. I have read Steve Smith's T4T book and enjoyed it, yet was skeptical if he could pull off writing fiction. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised!

The story pacing was really good and the dialogue banter was easy to follow. If I was a non-believer reading this I would totally find some of the references bordering on Christian propaganda. However, when you realize the goal was to fictionalize what many mission agencies are seeing happen around the world, it's easy to look past the "forced" references. I am looking forward to reading the second book when it is published!

Great book! It has an engaging, satisfying plot, loaded with huge implications. Looking forward to book 2.

It's uniqueness lies in the clear explanation and strong motivation for finishing what Jesus left for us to do.

Serves its purpose: getting Christians excited about finishing the Great Commission. Possible in our lifetime! Probably not of interest to people not already interested in Christianity, but definitely good to inspire Christians to think and act.

The story was not very gripping at the start, the plot and characters are not too engaging, but despite these flaws the narrative does build solidly to some truly touching moments.
