This is the second book by Tali Carmi that I am reviewing, and it is a very nice book for little kids and preschoolers. I have a growing baby, and I cannot wait to start reading this book to her!
I love the illustrations in this book - very whimsical!
I just read the book and got a bit confused, as the books starts as an introduction to kids to the concept of seasons. A new word "harbinger" is used, and it seems like the author is trying to talk about what spring is like. Then the storyline takes a turn, and we see bears appearing, and then Terry Treetop saves the little bear from falling in a pit. I think for kids, they will be very happy with the book, and I am sure this book is a favorite of a lot of children.
As a grown-up I notice a bit of a disconnect in the storyline. I think both parts of the book are wonderful for the little ones to read. I feel a bit confused right about in the middle of the book, where I expect it to be more about the seasons, and it turns into a whimsical tale about Terry helping out bears near his playground.
Overall, I think it is an excellent book to read to your 5-6 year olds, and it is exactly the genre of stories that they would love to listen to! This is an excellent book, I highly recommend it!

Educational and fun story about caring and Springtime
This is a fun and cute book about a little boy (Terry) and a little bear and how Terry solves a problem to help the little bear. There is some great information about the early signs of Spring and the first days of Spring - very educational! There were some punctuation errors, which irked me, but generally, it was a fun read and contained many colorful pictures.
I appreciate the fact that the book didn't "dumb down" the science of the changing seasons because my kids are very intelligent and generally kids understand much more than we give them credit.
I would have liked the author to discuss the issue of animal safety and getting close to bears, which she did not. However, the book generated a great topic of discussion for my 2 sets of twins and me.
Overall, a fun read!
