The Norwegian Language

Norwegian is spoken by approximately 5 million people, primarily in Norway, although there are some speakers in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, the UK, Spain, Canada, and the United States. It is closely related to Swedish and Danish. In Norway, no official standard of spoken Norwegian exists, and there are hundreds of spoken dialects. Generally, the dialects are mutually intelligible. Great Level 2 Norwegian course, learned a ton prior to a trip to Oslo.

Great Norwegian Level 2 program, following up on the equally excellent Pimsleur Norwegian Level 1. I did all 60 lessons (Levels 1 & 2) and had a great time on a recent trip to Oslo. Was able to talk to people, get directions, order food, etc. The reaction I got from people was great â people were so pleased I spoke some Norwegian and were eager to speak it with me.

The Farsi Persian Language

Quite sad.

Is very, very, very short. But, I agree with the author that if you just want to get by in whatever language, you don't need that many words. HOWEVER, it is very large print treble-spaced spread over only 31 pages (and then pages with vocabulary words to take notes on, so total page count is more than 31). If you don't already have French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, or Latin or Romanian - there is no way you could make use of this book. Six bucks is not a lot, but its method is based on drill of familiar words and patterns, and you just can't pack much drill into 31 treble-spaced pages. Quite sad.

Not for beginners

It has no pronunciation guide or traslation. It's a book written in Catalan completely unfriendly for the novice.

All in Catalan

The introduction is in English and the rest of the book is in Catalan with no translation at all. If I could read and understand this book, I would not need this book. I may have missed it, and if I did, I apologize - but I did not see anything in the description which indicated the the entire book, save the intro, was in a language which I am trying to learn.

Update: I do now see' that language is listed as Catalan, but still think this should be made clearer in description of book. I have just thrown away money, but thankfully a small amount.

I've always wanted to learn Catalan and found this book by recommendation on Amazon as I'd bought another book from the same author.

There are few resources to learn Catalan because I guess, there's not that many speakers of it so I was very happy to find this book. I love the Portuguese language and found it very easy to grasp Catalan as its quite similar.

I knew it would be in Catalan as its right there on the front page - 'My daily routine in Catalan' and also you can do a preview to view the first pages of the book so you should ignore the other review which I think is quite unfair.

What I found particularly useful is the way the book builds on the previous chapters verb usage - this is a great way to learn.
