Terribly boring, poor vocabulary

It took a long time to Pimsleur to publish this level 3 audio course for Arabic. It doesn't correspond to what I was expecting for the price. The phrases are too simple for an advance course. For instance you can hear "where are my papers? They are under the table". To much repetition. Level 1 is good for a total beginner to get the right pronunciation. Level 2 is not bad. But don't fool yourself it is IMPOSSIBLE to learn to master Arabic only using Pimsleur without learning the grammar at least a little bit. But it is an expensive help, to use also Pimsleur to variate between the different methods to learn Arabic, a difficult language for Europeans.

Please include a faster reading in future versions

It would be perfect if you included a regular speed version after you've listened to the slower one. I play it at a faster speed but it's not quite the same.

It needs to be spoken faster.

it should goes faster than this so you won't get bored or have a trouble connecting the sentences.

Spoken slowly, but good overall

Spoken a little slowly, but an excellent choice of beginner to intermediate words and phrasing. Worth a listen

Great for first time German readers.

Loved the story and the way it was narrated. Real-life adventures ww can all relate to. The story read quite slowly and with emotion. I listened to it while also reading thr story on my kindle. That was the best combination for me, having my brain getting used to this not-so-easy language through both my eyes and ears. The level of this book is A1. I'd done a couple of months of traditional studying before getting to this book, so could understand all the sentence structures and whatnot. But definitely learned lots of new things too!

Very helpful in German language learning.

I'm pleased to have found this sort of story both for reading and listening. It's more interesting than most generally available.

Not suitable for holidays

The method of teaching is fine - lots of repetition which seems to work ok. Could do with slightly longer pauses to think about your answer, so not really suitable for listening to while doing other things (which I wanted to do) as you need to able to use the pause button.

My BIG complaint about this is the content. The first three and a half hours are learning to ask people if they speak Danish and tell them you are American! (I gave up after that).

As a Brit going to Denmark for 3 nights I just need to learn some basics like 'yes, no, please, thank you, sorry, excuse me', and how to ask for train tickets, check platform numbers, ask where to find a taxi, or a toilet or a tourist info office, booking into a hotel, ordering food, paying a bill, shopping etc.

In practice you never need to ask if someone speaks English as whatever language you speak to them in, and no matter what you say, they will probably realise you are foreign and if they speak English they will reply in it and if they don't they will reply in their language and shrug.

This is much more suitable as an introduction to learning the whole language for if you are going to be living in the country and want to be fluent. Either that or they are just dragging it out to get you to buy more sections - either way it's a waste of time, money and effort if you just want practical basic phrases to get around abroad for s few days.

The best language courses for basic, holiday language are the Collins ones, such a pity they don't do Danish.

Really disappointed.

Very Helpful

Excellent for building confidence in Hebrew sounds

What was not clearly stated in the description is that this package has nine audio CDs, not just one CD. Which means MUCH more pronunciation practice than what you get with the one-CD Hebrew course by John Dobson. The Hebrew pronunciation is VERY clear. There is a female voice (who has phoneme-accurate Hebrew pronunciation despite her ability to speak American English) and a male voice (that sounds Israeli to me). The 9 CDs are packaged in an attractive carry case with sleeves.

Truly teach yourself

I have tried to teach myself Hebrew before with limited success. This book has made it possible for me to teach myself with confidence. It is extremely well laid out and each lesson truly keeps building on what precedes. The exercises that accompany each lesson are well planned and are just the repetition and practice necessary to reinforce everything that has been presented in previous lessons. I wish I had found this book a long time ago but better now than never !!!

Very useful!

Having the text is fine but when I'm not sure of the pronunciation, the audio is very useful. The speed of the speaker is easy to follow and there is enough of as pause for me to repeat.

The set works well

Combined w the flashcards, CDs and answer book, the 1st Hebrew Primer works extremely well. Of course, since Hebrew is completely foreign - even to those of us sou have studied Latin based languages - you will still have to study almost everyday. I would suggest at least one hour per day and more if your schedule allows.

Good Tool

Good stories to learn Arabic with. The narrator gradually picks up speed and the level of vocabulary met my skill level (beginner to intermediate)

A good tool for learners

This audio book is a good tool for Arabic language learners.

It is dedicated to basic users of Arabic, even though a certain knowledge of its basic grammar and syntax rules is required.

Stories are fun and gets you to continue listening.

The most remarkable moment is when Sam meets the Queen of Egypt (Malikat Misr) and they catch a bus. Then they are asked for their tickets and Sam says...

Extremely useful

Would you consider the audio edition of Sahlawayhi 1 to be better than the print version?

Yes. I have the print versions of this series also, but sometimes the whole pages of Arabic can look a little daunting to a beginner. Listening to them is much easier than reading them. The books can be useful though if you're struggling to catch a word/want to look up a word in the dictionary but can't hear it properly to spell it.

yes. This audiobook is for people who want to learn Russian as it would be in a basic course. Audible provides the accompanying text as a PDF download, so it's not totally audio.

A good way to revise and learn Russian

What made the experience of listening to Learn in Your Car: Russian, the Complete Language Source the most enjoyable?

I have liked the basic phrases very varied and with the pdf file, it is easy to follow the lessons.

Worst language audiobook ever

Don't waste your time and money in this book. It's just a bunch of words repetition without context. No technique at all for really learning a language. I should have stayed with Pimsleur, more expensive but really useful.

Disorganised and misleading

Firstly the title is misleading. It's organised in such a way that it's not possible to learn in your car without the pdf file. So unless you're parked up, it's not really an effective way to learn. It could be more effective if there were some English narrative, like in the pdf, but instead it's a random collection of words and phrases. For example, chapter 24 reads "my brother", "my sister" and then we'd expect more family members perhaps. Instead we get "my radio" then "my suitcase"!! The whole book follows this incoherent pattern which makes it frustrating.

Overall, there is quite a lot of content for the price, but terribly structured.
