Could have been more than just a triple shot, lady

With "shot" being the operative word, this is exactly what you get with three short stories by Tonia Brown which feature the shuffling undead.

"Naked Fear" introduces us to Howard, who has serious body image issues, to the point where his therapist insists that he spends time at a nudist resort. The only problem is that he's in the right place at the wrong time, and he's suddenly faced with the fact that being naked is the least of his worries.

"The Very Best" shows how a Southern woman employs a flash of genius when it comes to dealing with a pack of soldiers. They're not going to get that second chance to despoil all that she holds dear; it's one of those stories you know from the outset is going to end badly for the bad guy.

The parting shot is "The Worms Crawl In" and our transgressor is Brandon, who pays a high price for ignoring his mother's last wishes. Then again, the poor dear was getting a bit tired of being tied to Mom's apron strings all the time, only he wasn't quite expecting things to become so creepy and grisly.

Overall, Tonia Brown offers us three highly entertaining and darkly funny tales. Her style is fast-paced and it's clear she knows the genre well. If you're looking for a quick read that's going to make you laugh out loud, then this is well worth it if you're looking for a zombie fix. My only feeling is lady, you could have beefed this offering up with at least a half dozen more stories to pack more punch. I only just got started and it was over already.

Great Short Story Collection!

Tonia Brown is a phenomenal writer, and this short collection only proves it.

Naked Fear is a somewhat humorous tale about a man and his insecurities with his body. With his therapist and at a nude resort, Howard struggles to gain confidence in exposing the world to his birthday suit. Add in the undead and you have one intriguing tale.

The Very Best is by far one of my favorite zombie shorts. A wronged mother exacts revenge on those that had taken so much from her. If anything, this story alone is worth acquiring this collection.

The Worms Crawled In reminded me of "Something To Tide You Over" from Creepshow. Beware of your mother's requests!

All in all, Tonia Brown put together a great collection of short stories. I couldn't recommend this one enough.

Nice!

Creepy and weird and fascinating. The first story did make me laugh a little especially at the end. Second story was my favorite. Historically set stories aren't always my favorite but this one was original and interesting, very well done. Last story was both my least favorite, mostly because I was meh feeling about the character, and the one with the most well done tension so it was still good.

The woman does it again!

It easily transports you into the texture of the story

A hauntingly moody story rich with atmosphere and peppered with nostalgia.Mr. Johnson's main character, Robby Wilson returns to his childhood home, now in the throws of decay, and lays out a bitter-sweet narrative about what actually constitutes as 'death'. The strongest points of the story does not fall in the plot, which is a little predictable, but in the actual writing. It easily transports you into the texture of the story, awakening the senses to a time in one's life when the desire to recapture an unobtainable past becomes overwhelming.

Mr. Johnson's debut story is worth a read and I look forward to more from him soon.

Very imaginative

As you get closer to the end you find yourself reading faster and faster to find out what the main character discovers. Never would have guessed. Great short read.

Loved it!

Great story! Once you start, you can't stop reading. Also, being from a small town I can relate to the quirkiness of a small town & the characters that live there. Loved it!
