I did enjoy listening to this book over all but found the story line completely predictable and other parts repeated so often it became redundant and still other parts a little far fetched or too contrived.

Would you consider the audio edition of Marrying Miss Marshal to be better than the print version?
I haven't read historical romance since my teens. I have enjoyed Laural Merlington bringing the characters to life, despite the flatline story line, transparent plots, and emotionally imbalanced characters.
If youve listened to books by Lacy Williams before, how does this one compare?
I thoroughly LOVED Lacy's The Homesteader's Sweetheart and was gravely disappointed with this book. The emotions were unbelievable, the attraction was laughable, and the actions/reactions were juvenile. I hope this was an earlier work and will be revisited for a revision soon!

Laural Merlington is an excellent narrator for historical romances. I would listen to her again. And truth be told, although it took me over two months to finish this book, I only completed it because she was the narrator v

Omgoddess I don't think any of the figures appealed to me. Give me a rain check, please?

I still think Lacy Williams is a wonderful author. There is a great premise here, but it never bloomed. The theme and some of the events were radiating and could have been electrifying for the plot and character development, but it faltered.
Thus the three stars for the plot.
A Woman Marshal???
Marrying Miss Marshal is a story of Danna Carpenter and Chas O'Grady. Danna has became the town marshal of Calvin, after her husband's death (who is also a Marshal). She is trying to find who has killed her husband and at the same time, trying to earn the respect of the town people doing a man's job.
Chas came to Calvin to investigate cattle rustling. The last thing he expected was to be rescued twice by a female marshal and to be attracted to her. He is also hunted by the death of a woman, whom he failed to save.
Both characters are trying to deal with the demons of their past. Danna has grew up thinking that no one wants her but she still has faith in God. When she is in a difficult situation, she still trusted God that he is with her and will deliver her help. Chas has stopped believing in God. He has several issues to work out. Meeting Dana has helped him to realize several things in his past and what is important to him.
Marrying Miss Marshal is also about a woman doing a man's job during this period.
