This is a spin off from Graveminder, although it has only one of the original characters in it. It's a short story, and suffers from that. But it's a nice view into that world and I hope it means Marr will write more about it.

many great noir stories

i usually don't like short stories, but these are great. wonderful to read stories set in different cities, this book introduced me to several wonderful writers i had never heard of. there are also stories here from some of the best-known noir authors. easily worth the modest price.

Definitely weird on top

Wild at Heart, Perdita Durango and Sailor's Holiday are worth the price of the book. I often felt guilty reading these novels, but stayed to the end because I really did care what happened to Sailor and Lula. I envied their love for one another, and wanted it to persist despite their world being wild at heart and weird on top.

As a writer of fiction, poetry and as a David Lynch collaborator, Gifford's success is evident. Criticism of short chapters containing a multitude of oddly named characters whose story arcs often begin and end abruptly and conveniently can be shrugged off as a writing style that places his thumb firmly on the pulse of popular literature. I can't give this five stars, but I enjoyed the quick read.

A great American love story

A great American love story. I'm not a fan of flowery. I'm not a fan of dense explanations and examinations. I like to figure out characters by what they do. These stories don't waste time giving overwrought explanations about what motivates the characters. It gives you quick, brief glimpses into what makes the characters tick and suddenly you realize they're headed for beautiful disaster. It's surprising how the stakes grow so gradually you almost don't notice and then suddenly your heart rate is up and you're in a love/hate debate over whether to turn the next page.

Fun summer read

Spent half the summer with Sailor and Lula. It's plenty of reading, but it goes quickly. Their crazy adventures kept me wanting more, couldn't hardly wait to see what happened next sometimes. By the end, you feel like a friend to Sailor and Lula.

I LOVE this book!

I ordered it about a year ago and still haven't finished it because I don't want it to be over. If you've seen David Lynch's "Wild at Heart" then you should definitely buy this book! The first story will explain SO much more of the movie before Lynch got his hands on it, but it won't ruin it for you. The other stories are fabulous as well!

A must.

On one hand it was extremely shocking, but on the other hand it was one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read.

Good Bigfoot stories

Best bigfoot story telling I have found so far. I relly enjoy this book, the stories and the narration .

another great adventure

if you have the others in his collection Rusty has taken HIS favorites and put them into this book. there are a few not in the other books. great entertainment my kids love the stories and they do leave you scratching your head. this is not someone "squatchin" what ever that word means, but a true around the campfire fun tales. give it a try.

One Star

Well written but tedious characters about whom one doesn't care much

these linked stories are, in one way or another about fools who, as the author points out [but doesn't hit us over the head with morality tales] are sometimes the wisest people around. I was particularly taken with "Two Opinions" the story, perhaps, of a gutsy proto-feminest, or maybe the story of an unsatisfied woman. Worth reading just to see what you believe the story is about!

Found the stories sent in earlier times more appealing; maybe it's the period detail. Liked how the stories were linked together very strongly thematically.

Nice Compilation of Stories

There are several short stories in this collection, and Miss Lucy Parker is by far the best one of them - it was very good, and the others aren't so bad, either: each one takes about 10 minutes to read. What I really liked about Miss Lucy Parker, for example, is the author quickly grabs your attention and into the story - you can really imagine the situation and events, and I even had a visual of the pink Beetle driving up the road to the house.

I picked this up for free during a Kindle promotion vs. its normal 99 cent price, so grab it now while you can. Even if they start charging the full 99 cents, you'll get more than that in value with these stories.

Seven Short Stories

"Miss Lucy Parker and Other Short Stories" by Q. Kelly is a collection of seven short stories that are all either humorous or a bit on the weird side. My favorite story is "Miss Lucy Parker." It's odd and very funny and I didn't expect the ending to happen the way it did. These stories are not very long, and the content of this is 58 pages on the Kindle.

Miss Lucy Parker is sitting on her porch when she sees a pink VW Beetle on the road, and she is practically scandalized when it turns into her driveway. Who in the world drives a car like that except for long-haired, dope-smoking hippies? Miss Lucy puts down her sewing, but she puts the needle in her pocket, just in case. You never know. She is very surprised when she sees who gets out of the Beetle.

The other stories included are:

"The Interview" ~A very funny story about a problem during a job interview a young woman has with Mr.
