In this lively series, you will learn the five steps to let go. By practicing these steps, you will be able to move beyond your past and look back with some peace. Fr. A pilgrim mentality demands a deep Gospel spirituality, the kind that early Christians lived when they described themselves in Acts as followers of "the Way". You will then discover eight "BE-attitudes": Gospel attitudes that will guide you along your spiritual journey.

Public opinion will not long endure a theory which does not work in practice. Today, probably more than ever before, man demands proof of the truth of even his highest ideal. For ultimate satisfaction man just find a principle which is for him a way of life, a principle which he can experience as true. I believe I have discovered just such a principle in the greatest of all sacred writings, the Bible. Drawn from my own mystical illumination this book reveals the truth buried within the stories of the old and new testaments alike.

  • Lord Break Me! Audiobook by William MacDonald
Please open https://hotaudiobook.com ONLY on your standard browser Safari, Chrome, Microsoft or Firefox to download full audiobooks of your choice for free.
    Title: Lord Break Me!
    Author: William MacDonald
    Narrator: Paul Ansdell
    Format: Unabridged
    Length: 45 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-01-17
    Publisher: Words by the Wayside
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
In Lord, Break Me!, William MacDonald explains that God puts a premium on broken things - especially on broken people. That is why we read such verses as: "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit" (Psalm 34:18). "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise" (Psalm 51:17).
God knows how to resist the proud and haughty, but he cannot resist a person who is humble and contrite. God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). There is something in our brokenness that appeals to his compassion and power. And so part of his wonderful purpose for our lives is that we should be broken - broken in heart, broken in spirit, and broken even in body.
Think what it would mean in our individual lives, in our homes, in the local church, and in the business world if we were all broken as we should be.
What is meant by true brokenness? How does it manifest itself in a believer's life?
The daily prayer of the submissive saint is reflected in the words of the hymn: Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way! Thou art the Potter; I am the clay. Mould me and make me after thy will, While I am waiting, yielded and still.
A word about the author: William MacDonald (1917-2007) was born in Massachusetts. His parents were from the Isle of Lewis and when he was six years old, his family moved to Stornoway, Scotland, later moving back to Massachusetts.
A commended worker for 60 years, a teacher, preacher, mentor, and author of 84 books, including the Believer's Bible Commentary, William MacDonald was a man who said and wrote much. Yet, for those who knew him well, it was his life that left the greatest impression.

    Excellent
Bill MacDonald captures the essence of the Christian walk. A prideful person is of no use to God, but a broken person is a person useful to God. This little book is great perspective.

    Publisher's Summary:
You don't ignore your spouse, your children, your friends, or your boss when they talk to you, do you? Of course not! You also expect them to listen to you when you have something to say. So why do you think it should be any different with God? The answer to that question is this: It shouldn't be. Your willingness to talk to God and to have him talk to you should be even greater than it is with the other relationships you have in your life.
The purpose of this book is to help you achieve that goal. By looking at what prayer is, how to pray, what to pray for, and when to pray, you will hopefully become more equipped and fully aware of what it means to pray to God and overcome and defeat the spiritual enemy.

A pick me up when you feel you aren't good enough
I watched the author talk about her book on TV and why she wrote it and decided to buy it. The book is written in short chapters dedicated to a theme and is meant to support the reader in their faith journey and provides pertinent examples. It can provide fresh hope for the discouraged and be a source for meditation for the contemplative reader. Because of the book's structure the reader can read a theme and put the book aside and it does not require a philosophy degree to wade through it. Encourages the christian with the difficulties faced during our journey of faith and how to surmount those difficulties.
    Christianity is Positive!
Best book I've read in a few years (and I average 40-50 books a year). It helps you really see Christianity positively and as a relational - which is often lost today. Each chapter has an example then a Bible verse with reflection on that verse.
    very helpful and healing
A very helpful and healing book for anyone who struggles to believe God loves you. The author uses real life examples to make you realize that you are not alone...then she offers scripture passages and reflections to help a prayerful healing process begin. Very beautifully done.
    Great book
Many great nuggets. A person can keep going back to this book to read what struck you the most & to use it in prayer.
A Book of Kindness and Compassion
I was reviewing various titles on a book table, trying to decide which book would make for good reading during Eucharistic Adoration. My eyes kept coming back to this one: See Yourself Through God's Eyes - 52 Meditations to Grow in Self Esteem.
I needed something that would focus my thoughts and speak to my heart during prayer time. Thumbing through the meditations in this book, I knew it was what I needed to read.
Each meditation begins with a real-life example of someone struggling with a particular difficulty. This is followed by a brief scripture passage which speaks to the woundedness just described. Next comes a reflection, fleshing out an application of the scripture passage to the difficulty. Finally, there is a short prayer to remind us throughout the day that God is with us in all our challenges.
This book has been a real blessing to me, especially during Adoration. The meditations and reflections are written with compassion and kindness - anyone would benefit from reading them. I'm happy to recommend it!

We were created for community. So why do we want to be alone?
The Bible tells the story of the immense power of human relationships and God's love for the church. Douglas Bursch presents a timely, insightful and practical theology of community. He examines the relational implications of human existence, sin, salvation, discipleship, evangelism, and other key biblical concepts. Doug also shares unfiltered stories concerning his personal weaknesses and the relational struggles he has faced as a pastor. Each chapter contains thought-provoking questions that can be used by individuals, pastors, small groups, and college classes for further in-depth discussions.
Doug's writing cuts to the heart of why community is so valuable but so costly. The Community of God: A Theology of the Church from a Reluctant Pastor is an indispensable resource for creating healthy Christian community in an increasingly individualistic world.
    Members Reviews:
Written for today's community or lack there of.
Today's community is becoming less and less intimate and more individualistic. Douglas S Bursch writes this book with passion and understanding of what individualistic culture can do to community. He uses the Bible to support his theses and his passion for his vocation to argue for the importance of personal connections and the dangers of isolation.
Read by the author. The radio shows and podcasting have allowed the foray into audiobook narration successful, understandable and enjoyable. I could highly recommend any audio read by this narrator.

    Publisher's Summary:
A child peeling an orange on the subway. A bearded man with gentle eyes holding a tin cup on the corner. When we see life through the lens of faith, everyday moments become a source of hope and strength. In this collection of essays, chaplain Andrea Raynor reveals the unexpected places she has experienced the Divine and shows us how we, too, might come to see life as a spiritual adventure - one on which we are never truly alone.
Raynor's own life has required more than a little bit of faith. She served as chaplain to the morgue at Ground Zero and has ministered to hospice patients for more than twenty years. She's survived breast cancer and tended a brother wounded by the Vietnam War. Any one of these experiences could have shaken her belief, and yet she sees the holy in them all.
It's easy to lose our way, to forget who we are and why we are here. But each moment, no matter how trying, helps us chart our course and lights our path toward a more spiritually fulfilling life - all that's required of us is an open heart and a little faith on the journey.

    Disappointed
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I was disappointed in the theology of this book. It was not what I expected and I actually decided not to finish the book since her approach was not, in my opinion, backed up biblically. She did a great job on word pictures however and I am sure she is a blessing to those coming from her theological and philosophical position.
What do you think your next listen will be?
    Not sure.
Would you be willing to try another one of Andrea Raynors performances?
    No
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
    No

    Format: Unabridged
    Length: 2 hrs
    Language: English

    Publisher's Summary:
Materials drawn from The Face That Demonstrates the Farce of Evolution.
Today's generation is bombarded with theories about humankind and its origins. The danger for Christians lies in the wealth of misinformation and miscommunication about simple biblical truths such as: (1) How and when the world began, (2) Whether humans are unique or merely a happenstance of evolution, (3) The distinction between humankind and other living creatures, (4) The evolution of life on this planet, and (5) The spiritual dimensions of the human soul. Hank Hanegraff keeps Christians from falling prey to corrupting scientific speculation about the origins of life and reminds us that we are God's creation. This commonsense approach puts the concept of evolution in the grasp of everyday Christians and reminds us that ultimately the key to our purpose in this life comes from understanding whose we are and who created us.
