Practical and helpful

I wish I had this book 25 years ago as a new Christian struggling to understand God's love against the backdrop of the demeaning attitude toward women in my childhood church. This is a thorough and methodical treatment of difficult passages. Solid orthodox theology paired with deft sensitivity toward genuine questions from our modern perspective. Highly recommended. This book will be in a safe place on my shelf for reference when my daughter begins asking these kinds of questions.

A wonderful and wise resource

Although I read this alone, I can imagine it being a wonderful resource to read in a group. Wendy Alsup is a very clear thinker and writer, and most importantly, she upholds a strong commitment to Scripture.

Biblical, Easy to Follow Perspectivd

This book eloquently explains the biblical perspective of Godâs instructions and love for women. I really like that the author uses the Bible to explain the Bible.

Good not complete

Good book, explained a lot of things well and gave solid scripture reflections... I don't think it answered my toughest questions but it was good start for me as I begin to wrestle with feminism and scripture.

Settles concerns about Christianity being bad for women

I'm working my way through slowly, because so much of what Alsup writes pushes me to think about my presumptions about women, the Bible, culture, perspective. I appreciate her ability to tackle the common concerns many have about how women are treated in biblical accounts and, therefore, within the Christian faith. I'm being challenged in some places, relieved in others. Alsup shows how God honors women as His image bearers despite the sticky spots we encounter in Scripture. I highly recommend this book to pastors, leaders, small groups, and book clubs. I especially recommend this to any woman who has been made to feel less-than by poor representatives of the Christian faith; I believe you will be surprised by that the Bible really is Good News even for women.

A very good book.

Would you listen to The Hum of Angels again? Why?

The book's author aims to point one to God and His Son, Jesus. The very thing he says the angels do. I believe he accomplished this. This is one of the most concise and biblical accounts of angelic research that I have come across. Very worthwhile to get at the truth of what angels are or are not, why they exist, how they operate and how we should view them.

What about Bob Souers performance did you like?

The narrator was very clear. He ebbed and flowed with the book and the meaning of the book. He did a great job of portraying the author's intent.

Awesome on target study guide about the book of Revelations with regards to love God has for us!

When I have tried to study the book of Revelations in the past, I could only focus on all the doom and gloom.. Let's face it, there is a lot of it in there. However, I can tell from the writing of this book that God inspired Jill Grossman to write about the love story. There is an immense love story written in the book of Revelation. The theme of the study guide is that yes all of these horrible things happen but they must happen so that God can get the attention of his most loved creation, US! And even in the end, many will not turn to him. You see, God has given us the choice of free will. He isn't going to make us love him.. but he will give us every opportunity to turn away from our wicked ways and turn to him so that we can live eternally with him with joy and peace! The other theme that runs through this study guide is that no matter how chaotic our world seems to get, God IS in control!

My pastor mentioned a few weeks ago that many Christians will be discouraged, upset, or worried about who are next President will be. He said that is a waste of energy because God already knows who is going to be the next President! It is like God is moving the pieces into place much like a chess game, but satan and his demons will not be able to "checkmate" God.. I've read the end of the book of Revelation.. guess what God wins!

I have only gotten through Chapter 14 in this study guide only because I am wanting to take my time and savor all that Jill has written in the book with inspiration from God. I want to absorb it and reflect on it. I've only had the book two weeks and am a very busy person. I travel for work and am raising two teenagers, but I still find time to read this study guide.

The way I use the study guide is that I first read the chapter in the study guide and then I read the chapter in the book of Revelations in my Bible. The book helps prepare your mind and heart to receive what you are about to read in God's Word.

Bottom line.. you can not go wrong with this study guide! I will review once more when I completely finish the book. However, the way I feel about the chaotic current events now is that yes they are signs of the end times, but I am not anxious and can now embrace them.
