But overall another fine version of a good story.
    not impressed
missed whole chunks of the story and cut through chapters and sentences... quality is going down further through series

Not the best in the series
Not as good as the second but alright. I would have preferred the two books were mixed together for one slightly longer book. Thought the end of the second ended slightly randomly and this wasn't long.

Should have left the YA knock offs to Patterson
    What disappointed you about Uncaged?
This could have been yet one more James Patterson junk novels where a great author lends their name to another writer to push out commercial tripe for young adults. Teens unite to save the world from evil corporations. Oh come on, hasn't this been done to death. Sandford is one of my all time favorite writers. May be that's why this apparent sell out was so hard to swallow.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Kevin J Anderson's Dark Between the Stars
What didnt you like about Tara Sandss performance?
Voice has the quality of nails on a chalkboard. After getting used to the irritating tenor, Sands does to a good job of "telling" the story instead of reading it. Maybe its just the teenage girl screaming and wanna be hip team talk that rubs me the wrong way.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Is spite of everything else, the book did take a worn out plot and move it along at a Sandford worthy pace and it is well written. I just wish I hadn't known where it was going before I got half way through the book.
    Any additional comments?
I hated it when Patterson decided to franchise his creativity to turn out mediocre dime store novels. I hope this series is Sandford's only venture down that path.
    Nothing like typical Sandford
    What disappointed you about Uncaged?
The narrator is terrible. Sandford's other books have great narrators who improve the story line.
What was most disappointing about John Sandford and Michele Cook s story?
Since they are a married couple, I thought the book would have much of the type of story he writes, however this looks like a book she wrote and he put his name with her to sell it.
What didnt you like about Tara Sandss performance?
She is one of the most irritating readers I have listened to.
    You didnt love this book...

    Thoroughly entertained.
Great pacing for such a short book. The narration was incredible and I will listen to/ read this author again. Highly recommended to lovers of this genre.
    Not my cup of tea
The ending was the only good thing about it . I don't in injoy the rest of it .
One of the worst books I've ever read!!
This is absolutely the worst book I've ever read/listened too! The story is stupid and is basically just a bunch of mean girls torturing characters for 75% of the book. Do not waste credits or buy this book. You'll eventually do as I did and turn it off because you are sick of how the story lacks development. You can tell the writer was just trying to fill pages and didn't really care about making the story interesting.
    average ya story
This story was entertaining...but not thought provoking or edgy literature. The quality of the story was akin to a made for tv movie. The narrators has a pleasant voice and did an adequate, if not memorable performance.

    I liked it
What made the experience of listening to Lies My Girlfriend Told Me the most enjoyable?
The plot line is probably the best part. Pretty touching. Moving? I'm not sure what the exact right word is to use but I kind of felt something.
What other book might you compare Lies My Girlfriend Told Me to and why?
I don't think I would exactly compare it to other books but if I had to make a reach (within my scope of knowledge) I might compare it to Hood by Emma Donoghue. It's similar in major plot themes, sorta kinda???
Have you listened to any of Christine Lakins other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, I haven't. I am not jazzed about this one though. Her voice is just not my style. I appreciate her hard work though!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
If I was the crying sort maybe I would have? I'm basically dead inside though so don't go by me. This is a moving story.
    I really liked this book!
I like the authors books. I have three of them and I honestly like her work so far! The story itself was really good and it gave me all of the feelz! if I had to recommend ONE of her books, this one would be it!
    Lies my girlfriend told me
I could not put this book down I have to keep going and going till I realized I couldn't go any further. This was the best LGBTQ book I ever read.
    Amazing
This is one of the best books I've ever read!! The creativity and unique way of them falling in love is just beautiful.
    Great story
I was a bit hesitant at first to listen to the story and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed the story immensely and the narrator did a great job with the different characters. I love the development between Alix and Liana and how the death and Swanee brought them together as morbid and a bit twisted as it seems. A good mix of drama and heartfelt moments and little gasps in between. Given a read and or a listen to!

"Lily?" My stomach dropped as a tall, dark-haired man stepped into view. Had he been hiding between the trees? "No. Sorry." Gulping, I took a step back. "I'm not Lily." He shook his head, a satisfied grin on his face. "No. You are Lily." "I'm Summer. You have the wrong person."
You utter freak! I could hear my pulse crashing in my ears. How stupid to give him my real name. He continued to stare at me, smiling. It made me feel sick. "You are Lily," he repeated. Before I could blink, he threw his arms forward and grabbed me. I tried to shout, but he clasped his hand over my mouth, muffling my screams. My heart raced. I'm going to die.
For months, Summer is trapped in a cellar with the man who took her - and three other girls: Rose, Poppy, and Violet. His perfect, pure flowers. His family. But flowers can't survive long cut off from the sun, and time is running out....

    ONLY OKAY
Listening to Summer cry all the time got old and I felt the ending was anti-climactic. Half way into it, I just wanted it to be over and was really hoping the ending would save it for me, but it didn't. It wasn't horrible, was just kind of a boring read.
    pretty boring
Struggled to finish, just kept wanting more. Same thing kept happening. Very predictable ending to the book.
    The Cabin was better
I just didn't get as into this one. I listened to The Cabin by the same author and liked it so I thought I'd give this a try but it just didn't hold my interest in the same way. The female narrator was okay and I liked one of the male narrators but the other one (I don't know which was which) had a voice that kind of annoyed me. He wasn't in it too much which is why I still gave this 3 stars.
    Anticlimactic!
Kept me on the edge of my seat until the ending. It was very anticlimactic. Author repeats herself a little too much but it was a good fast read.
    love this book
I loved this book there wasn't one dull moment for me while reading. I couldn't wait to get back to read more!

    Superb mystery+great narration=fantastic audiobook
I'm not one for paranormal and or ghost storyline, so was a bit skeptical about this audiobook. But the unique perspective was intriguing without being dark. I really enjoyed this excellent mystery and the multiple suspects, and didn't have it figured out until the very end!
Not nearly as dark & complex as the summary claims
Where do I even begin on this book. First of all, I bought it in one of those daily sales for 4 dollars and still feel like I got ripped off. The description would have me believe that this was a legitimate detective story, with some hint of supernatural, of something dark and fantastic, story of madness and imagination. Well let me tell you right off the bat it's none of the sort. It's a kid's book. The kind of "group of friends solve crimes together" kid's book. The characters are very one dimensional and rather lame. There's the hero of the story, who's your average Merry Sue, who not only is an excellent athlete and mathematical genius of Rain Man-like abilities, he also has a heart of gold and protects innocent kids against evil bullies. And on top of everything, he's been chosen to posses the power of communicating with the netherworld. Then there is his best friend, who is a musician or something. His best friend's girlfriend who writes a novel. And a girl who has a crush on our hero and also is really nice I guess? The narrator read her parts in such an annoying voice, I instantly imaged some fair haired inane creature who only cares for magazines and shoes. Together they solve a mystery of what happened to a deceased girl nobody cared about when she was alive using such profound methods as: Checking out her grave. Breaking in teacher's house and stumbling across some vital evidence that was almost in plain sight (and nearly getting caught in the process). Listening to ghosts. And... Looking at photos! Awesome.
Meanwhile the main hero sees the dead girl (it turns out she was murdered!) who is prompting him to avenge her (what famous movie does that remind me of...) and we were promised his slow descent into madness, when he stops being able to distinguish between reality and dreams. What do we get? He digs up a dead dog and puts its carcass on his dad's car. Which was pretty good, I admit. At that point even I got pretty excited and couldn't wait for what other dark and sinister deeds might lie ahead. The answer? None. That was as dark as the book ever got.

    Members Reviews:
    Pretty Good: Even For Adults
I found this selection because of my daughter, but liked it pretty well. There is a great deal in this book about high school politics and way too much about women's shoes but it still plays. Ruby is an emotionally typical teen; sometimes thirty, sometimes ten. I was disappointed at the lack of time given to Ruby's supposed intellect and any workouts or self defense training in the book. There are some unlikely elements in this story but the writer is not only able to pull them off but fit them seamlessly into the narrative. Ruby's recklessness puts herself and those she cares about in peril and she doesn't seem to have second thoughts about it until afterwards when she beats herself up over it for awhile; then does it again. Rather than being incongruous this is reflective of an adolescent mindset. These weaknesses make it a four star for me but it is definitely worth the credit.
    Very trite, predictable, and immature!
What would have made Killing Ruby Rose better?
This was definitely a book I would have liked when I was 13 or 14. But the main character was not believable. She has 5 million dollars in life insurance, cares too much about shoes. She has perfect looks, perfect smarts, a very self-centered and shallow mother, and a new boyfriend who is perfect in every way. I wanted to throw-up. She was also very stupid for a "smart" girl.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
She did a good job of sounding exactly like a teenage girl. Unfortunately, this teenage girl was irritating and that made the narrator be irritating. My poor review of the book stems from the content not the narration.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It wasn't the worst book I've ever read.
    Ouch!
What could Jessie Humphries have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The author started out with a good idea which rapidly deteriorated with the valley girl POV of a misanthropic teenage stalker turned vigilante assassin.
One of the Best I've Read in Awhile
Where does Killing Ruby Rose rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
This was one of the best books I've read in awhile. So unexpected and unpredictable.
