    audio quality
The story is good but the audio changes quality on different chapters. The audio doesn't make it too bad just distracting.
    Good reading performance, good story
The reading and story were very well done, though the sound quality and recording quality was... crusty and uneven.
    Wonderfully read
This narrator is really cool! Love the range of accents and vocal tones. Pratchett, of course, awesome.
Rincewind is back with a vengeance
The Story that began with the first Discworld novel, the Colour of Magic has its epilogue in the second one, the Light Fantastic. Download them both, listen to them one after the other. The cover image is mistaken again, like in the colour of magic, and low resolution too. this is why they get 4 stars and not 5. Reader, Nigel IS THE READER, the one and only, perfect! He embodies the spirit od the Disc characters that Pratchett created, never boring and always perfect being Death, Rincewind or even the Luggage or any othe character! Pratchett himself confirms yet again that you can have an Epic fantasy ...even with onions!
    Good reading. Old recording.
it was an excellent reading. I wish it could be remastered to remove the fuzz.

    Finally available in North America
Quite a lot of the Discworld books were only availabe in abridged versions in north america. Was very very happy to see that has been remedied. I enjoyed Reaper Man very much, both the story itself and the Narration by Nigel Planer, whom I have found to be excellent reading these stories. I'm going to be using a lot of credits now....
    The death of rats
A brilliant embroidery of different stories that weave together to creates a brilliant tale. "SQUEAK"
One of the best 'what if'
Love it. Death is a most complex mirror of personalities. Story, plot and characters are perfect.
    A perfect Halloween listen.
Sir Terry Pratchett writes like no one else. His humour cackles from each chapter, infecting the listener, and before long, you too are a giggling zombie...
He has this wonderful ability to layer hidden references as he has in "Reaper Man".
Zombies, ghouls, vampires are all in here, giving it a spooky Halloween theme sitting alongside the main plot line. This book is a fantastic follow up to DEATH's story revealing more about his companions: Death of Rats and Albert.
In case you are new to the series, I would recommend to read "Mort" prior to this one, otherwise go for it, listen, read, swallow and enjoy!
It was a great choice for our holiday and made our long drives through Scottish Highlands a pure joy.
Nigel Planer's narration is of the highest calibre. It's amazing how he's able to give each character a personality which you start recognising as you read more and more books in the series. He gives an outstanding performance which is a wonderful addition to an already well-written book and makes "Reaper Man" another perfect listen.
One of the most moving of the Discworld book
    Any additional comments?
This was one of the first Discworld books I read, and it's a very moving book, as well as being as funny and quirky as you'd expect from Discworld. It's the one that confirmed me as a fan and made me want to get hold of every Discworld books available at the time.
Though I prefer the Stephen Briggs narrations, Nigel Planer is excellent too.

    Critic Reviews:
"Throne of Jade is a solid second entry in what is shaping up to be an intriguing series." (Bookmarks Magazine)
    Members Reviews:
    Wait for the UNABRIDGED version!
I love the Temeraire series. From the first page of the first book I was hooked. That said, I do not recommend getting this audio! Abridged audiobooks somewhat annoy me, but I bought it because an unabridged version wasn't available.
In this case, if you listen to this version you will have no clue as to what's going on in the forthcoming Book 4, since the dragon illness mentioned in this book is completely excised from the audio version - and is a focus of Book 4, according to the author herself.
I was overjoyed to see Book 3 was recently released in an unabridged version. Now, if only the first two will be... it can't happen too soon! Buy another audio, get the book instead, but wait to purchase this one in the unabridged format, whenever it is released here at Audible.
    Fascinating Read
This book is just as fascinating as the first one. They go to China and explore Temeraires roots. The Chinese have a whole culture based on dragons. There are some interesting Chinese court politics and plots are exposed by Temeraire and Laurence.
    Interesting and Entertaining Series
If you could sum up Throne of Jade in three words, what would they be?
    Very Entertaining book.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Temeraire is the most interesting character. A dragon that can talk and learn...c'mon - no brainer.
What does David Thorn bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
His accent and timing really bring the story alive. At first I found his voice dull, but I later realized the story would not be nearly as interesting if someone else read it. I hope he is reading the remaining books, as well.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
    No idea...but I would watch it. :)

In the presence of Cesare Borgia and his sister, the lovely and vain Lucrezia - decadent children of a wicked pope -- no one can claim innocence for very long. When Borgia sends Don Vicente on a years-long quest, he leaves Bianca under the care -- so to speak - of Lucrezia.
She plots a dire fate for the young girl in the woods below the farm, but salvation can be found in the dark forest as well.
A lyrical work of stunning creative vision, Mirror Mirror gives fresh life to the classic story of Snow White - and has a truth and beauty all its own.
    Members Reviews:
    nice
It was ok, hard to follow at times. But, over all good. I might read it again to see if i can get more out of the story.
Interesting re-telling of the fairy tale.
I've read several of Gregory Maguire's books - Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, Wicked, Son of a Witch and A Lion Among Men. I enjoy his modern twists on well-known fairy tales and his overall writing styles. He always incorporates elements of the fairy tales and weaves them into a believable and thought-provoking plot.
This book has a nice flow, and I enjoyed it. I would have rated it 4 stars but John McDonough constantly mispronounces "Lucrezia" and "Cesare" and it drove me nuts.
Genius combination of history and fairytale
Maguire is the master of reinterpretation. He combines a familiar narrative with two infamous characters. The result is delightful. I can't wait to listen again, I'm sure there's more pleasure to be wrung from this narrative.
John McDonough leads a talented cast of narrators who link and enliven the various elements of the story.
    Not up to par
I really liked "Wicked" from the same author, and I had high hopes for "Mirror Mirror", but it just didn't meet Maguire standards and the plot seemed rather forced.
    Odd, but not bad.
I loved Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, and while this is similar, it was a bit difficult to keep interested at times. I sped it up to 1.20 time toward the end.

    Publisher's Summary:
Football has come to the ancient city of Ankh-Morpork - not the old fashioned, grubby pushing and shoving, but the new, fast football with pointy hats for goalposts and balls that go gloing when you drop them. And now, the wizards of Unseen University must win a football match, without using magic, so they're in the mood for trying everything else.
The prospect of the Big Match draws in a street urchin with a wonderful talent for kicking a tin can, a maker of jolly good pies, a dim but beautiful young woman, who might just turn out to be the greatest fashion model there has ever been, and the mysterious Mr Nutt (and no one knows anything much about Mr Nutt, not even Mr Nutt, which worries him, too. As the match approaches, four lives are entangled and changed for ever.
Because the thing about football - the important thing about football - is that it is not just about football.
    Critic Reviews:
"At its heart, this is an intelligent, cheeky love letter to football, its fans and the unifying power of sports." (Publishers Weekly)
"In short, this is as busy and as daft as any other Discworld yarn, which means it is the quintessence of daft. Nobody writes fantasy funnier than Pratchett." (Booklist)
    Members Reviews:
Not Pratchetts best but still enjoyable
Pratchetts latest book fails to the reach truly dizzying heights he has been capable of.
As it stands it has to settle for merely being very good. Stephen Briggs is as brilliant as
always and certainly does his bit to ensure that the audio version compares well - or
perhaps even surpasses - the written work.
    Mediocre Discworld
Have you read "Asterix and the Falling Sky"? Uderzo's drawings of Asterix and his friends are some of the best, but the story reaches a new low point. I am not sure if this is really the case with "Unseen Academicals" but it is really not one of Pratchett's best. There are individual episodes of brilliance in the book. You are also left with the feeling that this is supposed to be (partly al least) THE parody on the Harry Potter-series. Yet, it felt if the storyline lacked some of the Pratchett brilliance I have come to know and love.
Stephen Briggs, almost like always, does a superb job in the reading of the book. I think he brings the game of foot-the-ball sufficiently to life. If I have to choose between reading the book or listening to his interpretation, I would prefer his interpretative reading by far.
Like "Asterix and the Falling Sky" this book is definitely a must for Discworld die-hard fans. You are also guaranteed a chuckle or two, if you are not so familiar with the Discworld, but I have read and listened to better from Prachett's pen. Maybe, the Unseen University and its staff have become a just too familiar place and set of characters in the Discworld.
I am terribly sorry, but not his best work.
I love nearly every book Terry Pratchett have written, but I believe that part of the reasen that I don't like it as much as the others is that it is abut fotbal, ore soccer as americans calles it.
Nott is a goblin, a rather big goblin, how likes fotbal. He is from a smal place in Ubervald, and Margalotha have taken him in as here word.

Book of fun adventure romance and trgedy
I really enjoyed Traci Harding's Book of Dreams, it had a mixture of everything, at times a wee bit over the top but that didn't distract. I have enjoyed her stand a lone books I wish she would do more.
    Five Stars
Awesome book, creative, imaginative and perfect for all fantasy lovers! :)
Most amazing writer on the planet...
Love this book!!! She is the most amazing writer on the planet...
    Great fantasty
I read this book within a few days, the style makes for easy reading, the pages just flow.
Kyle is a dole-bludging, no-hoper who drinks and smokes pot too much. Strangely, he likes to work out and stay fit.
Orphaned at birth, he believes the world owes him something. Then a mysterious book appears on Kyle's doorstep,
"We bid you welcome, young Kyle...
It has been brought to our attention that you seem completely lost. If you wish to come to know what it is that constantly eludes you in life... I am your transport to seek within."
And so Kyle embarks on a journey to discover his mission in life, guided by 'Book' and some furry (and not so furry) little elementals.
And what a spectacular journey it is, joining Kyle for the ride, is his best friend Matt and Zoe Nivok. Together, they seek to solve the 20-year-old mystery of the murder of Zoe's parents, and try to save her inheritance (a tract of Rainforest) from the developers at Nivok Industries.
With a tropical rainforest as a backdrop, Aboriginal Mythology and mystery abound, this book is a page-turner from beginning to end, with hints of ecology & Aboriginal Land Rites to top it off. I never knew what would happen next, even the Epilogue was a surprise!
    Book of Dreams
Ahhh what can i possibly say about this book that hasn't already been said?. I loved it , well and truly didn't want to put it down , its a great read. I my self have read it half a dozen times and every time its riveting. A must read. If your not a Traci Harding fan before you read this you will be when u finish it. :)

    Members Reviews:
    Great story, wonderful author
Where does Redoubt rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
That's a tough one. I love the Valdemar series! All of them.
What other book might you compare Redoubt to and why?
Can't think of one actually other than other Valdemar books.
Which character as performed by Nick Podehl was your favorite?
Mags, of course! He made Mags into a real person.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, when Mags was chosen! That was awesome.
    Any additional comments?
I wish all of the Valdemar books were available on audible. I would buy everyone!
    Fantastic story, excellant narration
Would you consider the audio edition of Redoubt to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version but I loved listening to the audio book.
What other book might you compare Redoubt to and why?
Tamora Pierce's Circle series as well as the Tortall books because they both feature characters that grow from often humble origins to achieve their destinies. I also hope Nick get hired to narrate the Owl series of books by Mercedes Lackey.
Have you listened to any of Nick Podehls other performances before? How does this one compare?
I didn't think I had but when I checked my library, I realized that I did have another book that he narrated. He did a great job on the other book but I really enjoyed his narration of this series. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series that won't be released until November (I think). I really hope they get Nick to narrate Owlflight, Owlsight and Owlknight from Mercedes Lackey. They are some of my favorite books that she has written and I can't think of a better narrator for the series.
I had no idea how popular Nick was and how many books he has narrated. I will definitely check out some of the other books strictly on basis of his narration of this series.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A story of a boy taken literally from rags to . . . Herald?
    Any additional comments?
I started listening to the first of the Collegium Chronicles books and was brought back into the wonderful world of Valdemar. I normally listen to books as I drive to work or when running errands. This time I couldn't stop listening and had to continue in my house. I think I listened to all four books in about a week.
    Great story!
Would you listen to Redoubt again? Why?
Of course! I love the whole series so far. Just a bit of mind candy to entertain you.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mags of course! He is a strong, well developed character and has a way of expressing himself that I find to be compelling.
What about Nick Podehls performance did you like?
I love his voices and accents. He reads at a steady pace that is very easy to listen to and his voice is just lovely.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Very much so.

    Eager for more
Another excellent novel well read by a talented narrator, only a full cast has any hope of bettering it. I can't possibly wait for next month's credit, the situation in the twin frames continues to build with equal parts anticipation and concern.
    A little twisty
This tone seemed a little desperate at time...to keep the frames & generations going but ended up enjoyable in the long run.
    Robot and Human
Who would have thought, only a great story teller, who has a wonderful mind for twists, either robot or human. Wonderful.
Terrible story failed attempt at a sci fi romance
Doesnt really move the story anywhere. Lots of sex that all to often comes off as more naseating then anything else

    Good Story
Not really a continuation of the first book, as I had expected. However, still quite enjoyable. :)
A master storyteller at the top of his game
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Hilldiggers is a great Scfi Novel well written & narrated. For fans of Neal Asher they will be very happy with this stand alone Novel & for those who have not read the Agent Cormac or Spatterjay series this book is a great introduction to his work. As with most of Neals books there are some great characters in this book & be they human , alien or AI they come across as believable & real. You are quickly drawn into the story & are fully engaged from start to finish. If your looking for an action packed audio book that you can't put down here it is.
What did you like best about this story?
I'm a big fan of the Polity novels so this was a real treat but I think Tigger was my Favourate character there's something about the war drones in the books that just appeal also to have a hooper as one of the lead characters was good. The combination of those two strong minded erasible personalities just works.
Have you listened to any of David Marantzs other performances? How does this one compare?
No this is the first time I have come across this narrator but I was pleased with his performance
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes I found myself chuckling away at parts, sympathising & feeling anger. As with any well written book the story & the narrative lead the way. Although these books are set far in our future they are wholly believable you relate to the characters & as they learn & explore their environment so do you.
    Any additional comments?
A great addition to audible & I hope to see more Neal Asher books soon
    tedious
    What disappointed you about Hilldiggers?
I usually love Asher, but this was a real slog to get through. Lots of suffering, lots of twisted, broken people.
