    Publisher's Summary:
The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around - and Lazlo Strange, war orphan and junior librarian, has always feared that his dream chose poorly. Since he was five years old he's been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it.
Then a stunning opportunity presents itself in the person of a hero called the Godslayer and a band of legendary warriors, and he has to seize his chance or lose his dream forever. What happened in Weep 200 years ago to cut it off from the rest of the world? What exactly did the Godslayer slay that went by the name of god? And what is the mysterious problem he now seeks help in solving? The answers await in Weep, but so do more mysteries - including the blue-skinned goddess who appears in Lazlo's dreams. How did he dream her before he knew she existed? And if all the gods are dead, why does she seem so real?
In this sweeping and breathtaking new novel by National Book Award finalist Laini Taylor, author of the New York Times best-selling Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy, the shadow of the past is as real as the ghosts who haunt the citadel of murdered gods. Fall into a mythical world of dread and wonder, moths and nightmares, love and carnage.

    Poetry, Dream & Heart
If you could sum up Strange the Dreamer in three words, what would they be?
A poignant, haunting and beautiful tale
What did you like best about this story?
It's message and theme, the way that there is no evil, only good intention turned sour.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes
    Strange the story
Fantastic storyline, as ever with Laini Taylor's amazing ideas, narrated superbly by Steve West. This proved to be one of the best audible books I have so far enjoyed. Thank you! The anticipation of the sequel is almost too much to bear!

    Publisher's Summary:
From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Julie Kenner (aka J. Kenner) comes the fifth installment in the fun-tastic demon-hunting soccer mom series that began with Carpe Demon.
Demon-Hunter Kate Connor is having a very bad month.
Her resurrected first husband houses the soul of a demon.
Her current husband is being overly attentive to the point of smothering.
Her toddler son has entered a tantrum phase.
And her teenage daughter is still determined to be the next, best demon slayer. Worse, she's determined to get her learner's permit the day she turns 15.
That's a lot for one woman to juggle, even a Demon-Hunter. Add saving the world to the mix, and things are about to get complicated.

    a captivating series!
I won't repeat a book blurb you probably just finished reading. If you've read the first 4 books, then don't stop now! I just finished this one and am only pausing long enough to tell you to get this book. If you haven't read this series, start with book 1 because you don't want to miss any of this! Love the characters! The book is about demons and demon-hunters, but it's also about the love and strength/power of families. I read....a lot!! I don't normally gush over the books I've read, but I'm making an exception here! This author knows how to bring a story to life!
    Much better than no. 6
There seems to be no soccer in any of the books, and Kate has so much trouble holding on to that knife/stiletto, which seems to shoot out of her hand every time she tries to use it, that I feel I should recommend bungee mitten strings for it. That said, this is probably the most suspenseful of the books and would have been a good place to end the series, with daughter, Stuart and friends all stepping up to the plate.
Series is Getting better and better
I have read the series and truly enjoy them. This book takes a much darker, serious turn...and their is emotional turmoil for all. I won't give the details because I think you will enjoy reading them.
    Stars
I liked this books. Not sure why I have to right 20 words to rate a book. That's what the stars are for.
    Another fun and emotional read
I love this demon hunting soccer mom and her antics and crazy family. This had enough of the humor with the family gut wrench that keeps you flipping pages.

    Transcendent, startlingly, soul-searingly beautiful
This miracle of a novella was nothing I expected.
I purchased it for its title, knew little of the plot other than a curmudgeon on his farm in Calabria.
The story was magically crafted, the narrator perfect, the fusion of reality and the fantastic touchingly done.
The tale is founded in love, on forgiveness, on courage in the most exotic and mundane events of life.
    Amazing.

Aaron Hope plays video games, like a lot, just not professionally. When he entered the EpiX! Games! PVP World Championship on a lark, this college senior never expected to make it to the final round, nor to get drugged and shoved into the alpha test for World of Ruul.
The premise for this virtual reality MMO is simple. Find all eight treasures scattered throughout the world before the maelstrom's forces devour everything in sight. The only catch? You can't log off, and if you die...well, let's just say what happens in the game doesn't stay in the game.

    Fun times!
So, I don't have a toooon of experience within this genre, but what I have read is very similar in some way to either Sword Art Online, .hack, The Matrix, or Ready Player One. This one isn't too different from those in the basics either. It even uses RPO as a reference at one point. I knows what it is, and I liked that about it.
In this story, a college senior is drafted into saving the world from a nearly-sentient virus by being very good at a video game that was expressly made to mirror the game that the virus itself has created. So, it's got some common tropes in this genre, which is not necessarily a bad thing. There's only so far you can go to make 'this is a virtual-reality MMORPG except that it's actually real on some level so don't die or you'll really die' seem different, you know? For me, first and foremost, how entertaining a novel (of any genre) is to me is always the most important factor. I appreciate good writing when I find it, and super-original ideas, but if a story is compelling and told in a compelling way, I'll enjoy it all the same. Even if it uses tropes that are very familiar to me. If it has characters that I like and that I root for, chances are that I'm going to not hate it.
Anyone who reads my reviews regularly (and I can't imagine that anyone actually does >.>) will know that I love it when books reference my favorite things in enjoyable ways. So, this book pretty much wins on that front right from the beginning. In chapter one we get a character that is cosplaying Tifa Lockhart, red gloves and all, so I did a little 'heheeee!' because FFVII is absolutely among my favorite games of all time. Plus, it's from my generation, and so there's something specifically for someone who grew up or lived through my generation to relate to.
Anyways, I mostly enjoyed my time with this book. Aaron was an enjoyable character and I quite liked his adventures in leveling. He is absolutely foul-mouthed (like me!). He references a lot of real life things that I also like (Diablo, Penny Arcade, Star Wars, Skyrim, etc, etc, etc.) so my inner (and outer) nerd nearly always had an opportunity to have a little smile of recognition. These sorts of things make parts of the story you would think are boring (like level-grinding) not actually as boring as actual level grinding is. George the Bunny was also a pretty good character, though there were times that I thought he was a bit over-the-top. Ok, a few times... but I still appreciate a bunny who swears that much.
This was a pretty easy listen, because it was quick, and I never found it to be overly plodding, even during the level grind, but it was an easy listen because Nik Magill nails the narration.

characters surrounded by damn good writing
My rating is 10 of 5 stars. Yes, it is that good.
Imagine walking into a museum and seeing a gorgeous medieval tapestry. The overall impact is overwhelming. Then you begin to notice the finer details. Strands of shining gold and silver catch your eye. You notice the less brilliant colors the silver and gold intertwined with. You begin to see patterns. You see how individual colors, whether vivid or muted, work together to create the whole work of art. I have just described The Gilded Cage by Vic James. It is a work of art.
I have read over 100 books this year, 2016, and The Gilded Cage is in the top 3. It is a finely crafted novel. It was released in February 2017 along with an audiobook version. I suggest you get both. I read 99% of books in electronic version due to a movement disorder. Gilded Cage and any sequels will be ordered in hardback. These I plan to give to my future grandchildren when they are old enough.
There are two main families in Gilded Cage. The Jardines , the haves, and the Hadleys, the have nots. It is what they have or not that makes this novel so unique. The Jardines have Skill. The Hadleys do not. Skill is the ability to use magic. This is not the learn the spells and potions of Harry Potter magic. This is the intuitive, instinctual, primal magic that flows from the individuals soul. Not everyone can do the same things with Skill and not everyone has the same strength of Skill.
The universe Gilded Cage is set in has always had Skill as a part of it. The difference in England begins when King Charles the first (and last) is not overthrown by puritans. He is executed by a powerful Skill member of the aristocracy. A new system of government is set up. Parliament with only Skilled members. A few token Unskilled are allowed as observers. Other countries have different systems. In the States United of America, the Civil War was fought.

    Good Book!
I don't normally write reviews, but I felt like I should since there aren't any others available yet. I really enjoyed this book (story & narration). I expected to like it based on the description, but the ratings kept me from having high expectations.
I think my favorite aspect of Pathfinder's Way is the heroine. So many books, especially those with romance elements, can be ruined by a heroine who is weak, whiny, self-absorbed, overly pushy, or constantly doing things that are just plain idiotic or embarrassing. Shea is not that heroine. She is smart, capable, and believable, while still having faults that make her easy to identify with.
The book is well-written and enjoyable; there are at least a couple scenes that I found absolutely delightful. I definitely recommend that you give this book/audiobook a try! It is an audiobook I will listen to again.
    Solid
This is one of my favorite book, I just reread it after some time and it is still so enjoyable, I love the female lead, the times she spent as a scout was my favorite part of this book I wish there was more, I can't wait for the next instalment.
ps: this book is directing me to another T.A. White author, who wrote about Arthur. this book is not listed under him but still
TRICKED! NOTHING LIKE THE GOLDEN DYNASTY
I don't get it. Kristen Ashley's Golden Dynasty is a favorite of mine. Therefore, when I read that Pathfinder's Way was comparable I was more than elated and then found out it was on Audible- made me gitty like a kid on Christmas. That feeling quickly turned into disbelief. I was thinking maybe I had read the title wrong? Nope.
I went into Pathfinder's Way with high expectations. After finishing I can honestly say I never would have bought this or used a credit if it hadn't been compared to one of my favorite books.
Take out the 2 sex scenes and this could be a YA book and still wouldn't have interested me.
    Blah......
    Everything is fine.
It was fine. The beginning was a bit slow, the middle was awesome and i loved it. The end made me want to throw something. This book was at its best when it wasn't trying to be a romance novel.

    Fun!
    Any additional comments?
It's simple really, this book is just fun.
The short of it is that if you liked the first book, then this one is just as good albeit more polished. The same group of characters are back plus a couple new and welcome additions. The focus this time is on some other characters than the first book, but that is fine as we are just here for witty dialogue and spoofs, right?
There isn't much more to tell. If you want a fun fantasy book that is a candy sweet treat, then this is the book for you.
The narrator needs to Slow Down!!!
I think Faust Kells is a good narrator and I really liked his work on the first book. I really like his different accents and he really works to make each character sound unique.
That being said, I found this book very hard to listen to. There were sections of the audiobook where is sounded like the narrator was reading it as fast as he could. There were sections of the audio where there were no pauses after a period or between paragraphs or changes in the POV characters. There were times I got totally lost because the POV had changed and since there was no pause, I didn't realize it. Sometimes it just sounded like one very long run-on sentence. It was just very hard to listen to and I was pretty disappointed. The audiobook could use a good re-edit just to add some pauses between sentences and POV changes.
Fantastic 2nd entry in the series
The Dungeoneers return to duty and are taking on a seriously cool non-traditional dungeon. What we lose in amazing new dungeoneering tricks we gain in excellent and intriguing word building. I think I like this one even more than the first. The slightly reduced cast of dwarves helps us spend more time with the main players.
    a very entertaining book
happy to see the dungeoneers getting into some more trouble. this adventure is no less amazing than the last one they went on.
    Slow DOWN!!!
What didnt you like about Faust Kellss performance?
Mr Kells REALLY needs to slow down. I felt that this production was rushed, and poorly produced. Too many times I became lost and and to back up over and over again, because of a disregard for punctuation. Pauses were too short or ignored all together. Transitions from one story arc to another came and went and I did not realize it had happened until I was asking myself Wait...where are we? What just happened! When the Reader slows down...(which happens occasionally) this story becomes truly enjoyable. But as it is...I feel like I cannot relax and enjoy this book because I am constantly having to keep up with the frantic pace of the Narrator.

    Captivating Story
Beginning with the Bone Season this story will capture tour interest and leave you wanting the arrival of the next installment. . . . . .
    Unexpectedly good read.
A friend recommended this series to me a couple of years a go, so due to trusting in her recommendations where books are concerned I took the plunge and bought this series. I am not a fan of dystopian novels normally so I started this being completely unsure of what I would think. I was however surprised and really enjoyed the story, it hooked me in and I could not wait to find out what would happen to Page and the rest of the gang. After reading this short introduction to the series I will Definitely be planning to read the other books. I am actually quite excited about the prospect of this series. For such a young Writer Samantha Shannon has a fantastic talent, to create a whole futuristic world can't be easy however she makes you believe in it and brings you in. If this book is anything to go by with the others being longer I am looking forward to learning more about page and her adventures.
    The Pale Dreamer is AMAZING

Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fantasy: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
Surviving 60,000 years takes cunning and more than a little luck. But in the 21st century, Adam confronts new dangers - someone has found out what he is, a demon is after him, and he has run out of places to hide. Worst of all, he has had entirely too much to drink.
Immortal is a first person confessional penned by a man who is immortal, but not invincible. In an artful blending of sci-fi, adventure, fantasy, and humor, Immortal introduces us to a world with vampires, demons and other magical creatures, yet a world without actual magic.
At the center of the book is Adam.
Adam is a 60,000 year old man. He doesn't age or get sick, but is otherwise entirely capable of being killed. His survival has hinged on an innate ability to adapt, his wits, and a fairly large dollop of luck. He makes an excellent guide through history, when he's sober.
    Members Reviews:
Great story that will make you think about life!
Where does Immortal rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I typically listen to sci-fi and this was a deviation for me. This is one of my favorite non sci-fi listens ever.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Immortal?
Not one moment, but throughout the book the comparing and contrasting past to present in ways that made me think. This book made me ponder the idea of being immortal, seeing civilization come to be, witnessing everyone you've ever know die, and seeing history repeat itself over and over.
Have you listened to any of Steve Carlsons other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not. I found him easy to listen to though at times I would have inferred different inflection and tone from the text.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Not extreme but I did laugh out loud a couple of times. Mostly this book made me think. The story is good and held my interest but what I remember most is thinking about life and how short and fragile it is.
    Any additional comments?
If you're into sci-fi and would like to venture out, this book may do the trick. I've tried other fantasy and mystery novels with little success, I found this book suited my tastes perfectly.
    Loved it!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If I had not already purchased the second and third books of this series, I would be doing that now. The first installment was so enjoyable I nearly cried when it ended, not because it had a sad ending but because I was sad that the story was over!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Adam is a hero. He denies it, but he is. He is an immortal who has seen all the good and bad that life can offer and still hasn't lost his humanity. And he has a sense of humor about it all that is rather uplifting for the reader.
Which character as performed by Steve Carlson was your favorite?
Steve Carlson was the perfect voice for this book. His performance of all the assorted characters was as perfect as I could wish for.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Oh, I could have listened to all of it in one sitting, but I spread it out over two days. A book this good doesn't come along every day and I wanted to savor it as long as possible.
    Quite Good
I enjoyed this book very much. The humor is on point and the history references are very imaginative.

For millennia, the Librarians have secretly protected the world by keeping watch over dangerous magical relics. Cataloging and safeguarding everything from Excalibur to Pandora's Box, they stand between humanity and those who would use the relics for evil.
Ten years ago only Flynn Carsen, the last of the Librarians, stood against an ancient criminal organization known as The Forty. They stole the oldest known copy of The Arabian Nights by Scheherazade, and Flynn fears they intend to steal Aladdin's fabled lamp. He races to find it first, before they can unleash the trapped malevolent djinn upon the world.
Today Flynn is no longer alone. A new team of inexperienced Librarians, led by Eve Baird, their tough-as-nails Guardian, investigates an uncanny mystery in Las Vegas. A mystery tied closely to Flynn's original quest to find the lost lamp, and the fate of the world hangs in the balance.

    Great!
Loved this story. Big fan of the show, found this audio book and had to have it. Great listen!
    Great text, groan-worthy accents
Loved the book - engaging storyline, dramatic cuts between Flynn and the LITs. Loved the descriptions - really brought the narrative to life in audio format. But the narrator's accents were pretty bad - especially Ezekiel and Jake's.
    just like the TV show.
I liked it, but it felt like a double episode of the TV show. I had expected more
Just like the TV show .. I love it.
    Any additional comments?
We love the TV show. Some call it bad, I call those people other names. With a smile. If you watch and like The Librarians TV show, you will like this book. If you have never watched the show, you will be lost trying to listen to this audio book. I hope there will be more editions show up here on Audible.
