Good for those who liked Hunger Games and Divergent
The series was worth listening to. Made it through all 5 of the books in a few days without becoming overly annoyed with the characters or storyline.
    Really fun listen
I really enjoyed Benner's Recon. The narrators did an excellent job. I was so into it, it was hard to press pause. Though Recon has similar elements to other popular dystopian series, Benner has successfully created her own, believable world. I just wish there was a bit more backstory, but I'm hoping to find out in the next book! It's a great, fun listen
Great way to catch up before the final installment
I've read all of Tarah's books on Kindle, and I received the audio books of The Fringe through a contest leading into the release of Lockdown. This is a great story told in a very interesting way. The narration adds a new dimension to the story, full of emotion and inflections at just the right moments. I highly recommend this and all of Tarah's work, especially if you enjoy well thought out dystopian future stories.

She's ordered Eli to kill the drifters' leaders - including his estranged older brother. Eli would do anything to protect Owen, but every choice has its consequences. same thing, different cover
This series tries to be like the hunger games or divergent. Unfortunately, it falls far short. Two people, one a subordinate and trainee of the other, are shot at, set up to be killed, make stupid mistakes over and over again, lie to one another to "protect them" and spend a lot of time kissing passionately and nothing more.
Rather than reaching a distinct conclusion, each book just ends. It feels like just the end of a chapter. So I kept taking the plunge and getting the next book. I finally gave up in the middle of this book. There doesn't seem to be any progress for our protagonists. Their situation keeps getting worse. It's frustrating and depressing. I'm done.

    It's Apollo
Rick did it again and bringing Apollo with him is 2 birds single shot it's adventure all along but the humor Apollo provided is the best of class
    good book.
    Any additional comments?
Please do not make book 1 available if book 2 isn't. This has happened twice lately. I could understand if the book got low ratings or a new release. My Mom has asked for the next books but still not available.
    Rick Riordan keeps delivering
If you like the Percy Jackson series, you Will love this one.
you know how apollo is in the books? arrogant? self-centered? like pretty much all gods. Well, he is mortal now. And constantly fearing for his life.
    Amazing!
I was sceptical at first. But I seriously had nothing to worry about. Rick Riordan has done it again. Great story, brilliant pacing, twists & turns. So good.
    The narrator was great.
This is a must read for any Percy Jackson fan.
    love the story
love the story but some of the characters were already pre existing and would have sounded better if they had had the similar twangs as previous books (like Leo Valdez)

    Graphic Suprrhero Sex
This book would have been perfect without all the 'extra' details. I had to skip the last half of chapter 13. It isn't that it didn't work in the story line, I just didn't expect it to because adult erotica. Other than that one chapter, the rest of the book, and characters were great.
Male power-fantasy with a female protagonist.
    Any additional comments?
This is an odd one. Generally I liked the book, it's a first person narration with an interesting enough narrator. It's just, well, the women are written like men and the men are written like either angelic paragons or irredeemable perverts. Any man in this book that isn't the perfect male specimen with out fault or flaw, is actively trying to rape the main character. And there are rape scenes in this book but with little or no consequence to the story at large. The character being raped responds with the same reaction as someone getting a parking ticket.
Honestly on the elements alone I would say this is a bad book. But the book is first and foremost a superhero story with spectacular fights and amazing feats. And it does that part well enough (Although there are MANY descriptions of the main character's naked ass during the fights). The really poor characterization is not a huge problem because that's not really the what the book is about. Granted any time the story tries to dip it toe into the deeper end of the character pool it's painful but these moments are few enough that it's not an over all painful read.
Generally this book is like reading a comic from the 90s. Lots of spectacle and a good deal of titillation. Plot an characterization are an after thought at best. If you a male comic book fan it's not horrible. Women and people who enjoy character driven stories should stay very far away from this book.
    An Entertaining Listen
Would you consider the audio edition of So Not a Hero to be better than the print version?
I never read the print version. The audio version is very good. The story is for adults, but it is still a good capes and costumes superhero story with interesting characters and a moving plot.
What did you like best about this story?
The journey and development of the main character. Watching her progress and discovering some of her secrets, which I will not reveal so you can experience it yourself.
What does Angela Brazil bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
    She was the main character.

    Language: English
    Release date: 03-01-16
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 125 votes
Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fantasy: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
When fragile 16-year-old Hope Walton loses her mom to an earthquake overseas, her secluded world crumbles. Agreeing to spend the summer in Scotland, Hope discovers that her mother was more than a brilliant academic but also a member of a secret society of time travelers. And she's alive, though currently trapped in the 12th century, during the age of Eleanor of Aquitaine. Hope has 77 hours to rescue her mother and get back to their own time.
Passing through the Dim, Hope enters a brutal medieval world of political intrigue, danger, and violence. A place where any serious interference could alter the very course of history. And when she meets a boy whose face is impossibly familiar, she must decide between her mission and her heart - both of which could leave Hope trapped in the past forever.
Addictive, romantic, and rich with historical detail, Into the Dim is an Outlander for teens.
    Critic Reviews:
"Instantly engaging, constantly suspenseful, ultimately poignant and satisfying. Loved it!" (Diana Gabaldon, author of the number-one New York Times best-selling Outlander series)
"[Narrator Amanda] Ronconi's charged energy moves the plot along as she delivers Hope's characteristic quips with an undertone that combines insecurity and confidence in her photographic memory. Ronconi's use of accents is effective in distinguishing Hope's family members, with their Scots brogues; her heart's companion, with his flatter English inflection; and Hope herself, with her American speech and enthusiasm." Typical YA
This was fine for what it is - standard YA romance. I had hoped for more with the time travel / medieval angle, but really this obeys all the standard tropes of the YA genre and confirm why I typically avoid it. Give it a pass if you're looking for something time travelly or medievally. But if teenage romance is your thing, you'll be quite happy with this book.
    Fun to read!
This book is great for kids, no bad language, and a good storyline as well.
    Not just for young adults
    Any additional comments?
I enjoyed this book. Interesting and well written. I hope there is another book to come.
    Different reader
This is the first time I've ever felt the audible book would have been someone else
Almost Historical, but too much fluff
And you can tell by the description, this story is about going back in time to rescue someone.
Strengths: Comparing the old world to our modern one!
Weaknesses: Everything else it very basic and trope-filled
I wish be could have spent more time on actual historical facts and consequences. Those moments are where the story really shines! Unfortunately, the characters are pretty flat, I honestly couldn't care too much about them. Considering how well researched the time period was, the characters feel so depthless by comparison.

    I love Bill
Love these books, can't wait for the next one. Just re-read the books. Hope Tom gets fixed.
    Darn Talunta!
    Josh here
Since the first entry in this series, I have been hooked on our lovable nerd of a vampire and his companions. I have to admit to holding off from this entry simply because I know there are two books left (including this one) for me and I didn't want the fun to end (though I have now paid attention to detail and realized there are some .5 entries I can continue with). Rick is a great writer and this series hits home with me on so many levels. From the battle with Vehron (Hoping I spelled that right as I listened to the audiobook) to the re-developing relationship between Bill/Sally and the ever complex relationships with Bill and just about everyone in the story, this book definitely drew me in. I will admit that I did not see the twist coming near the end of this book and I can definitely see the setup for book 8.
Great work, Rick. For anyone looking for a fun journey, please check out ToB. I am going to assume you have since you are looking at book 7, but I still have to throw out the obligatory recommendation for such a fun series. If you aren't convinced about whether or not you should read this series by now, DO IT!
    intense
Some story line comclude, with new ones reavealed. Another great chapter in the continuing tale.
Finally a battle with the feet!
Finally we get to hear about a proper battle with the feet
-A good deal of preparation before that happens as well, which is actually really interesting, and then after the battle with the feet, there's another battle with Vehyron the destroyer. Also really great to hear.
Story progressed much more in this book, and finally Bill starts embracing his 'inner demon' and acknowledging it as a tool to fulfil his destiny. Honestly, all very interesting and an exciting listen.
Very much looking forward to the last book.
Narration is better in this book, it sounds like they went with the newer version of Bill's voice. Still changes a bit, but its definitely better.
    narration
I love this series honestly... my beef is with the narration .

A new dystopian/post-apocalyptic series from a New York Times best-selling author
My name is Theo, and I'm a resident of Oasis, the last habitable area on Earth. It's meant to be a paradise, a place where we are all content. Vulgarity, violence, insanity, and other ills are but a distant memory, and even death no longer plagues us.
I was once content, too, but now I'm different. Now I hear a voice in my head, and she tells me things no imaginary friend should know. Her name is Phoe, and she is my delusion.
    Or is she?
    Members Reviews:
You will get sucked into their world!
What about Roberto Scarlatos performance did you like?
I found the reading by the narrator was well done and helped to bring the story to life for me. His various voices have become those I associate with the characters. The recording is clear, without any background distractions.
    Any additional comments?
Theo is one of the many youths on Oasis. The stories based in the future, where machines have taken over the world and caused a global meltdown. Goo covers everything except for the small inside section that is protected by the force field - oasis.
In this society there are no family units and no one ages past 40. You are considered to be a youth until your 40th birthday, then you become an adult. There are also the elderly but on one sees them around.
Theo has been talking with his imaginary friend a lot lately but she seems to know things he does not know, like about movies he's never seen before. And Phoe always seems to know where his friends are, or if they are looking for him. Could his imaginary friend really be real?
His friend takes him on a crazy series of events and everything he used to know changes.
This is a super addictive story. I found it to be very fast paced I listened to this book through audible, and its length is 7 hours and 28 minutes. I was pretty much listening to this as often as I could thought the day. I've listened to it about 2-3 times now before writing the review. The novel is left happily resolved but I am quite certain that there will be a sequel!
There is swearing thought the novel, in addition to some violent descriptions/concepts. I would recommend this book for adults and potentially mature older teenagers. Additionally there is some advanced vocabulary that younger readers may not understand - such are morose.
I received this novel via audible for testing in exchange for my honest opinion, which I have provided based on listening to the novel multiple times
    Very good
This book reminds me of the giver and the 100 with originality thrown in as well. I hope that this comparison does not give anything away. The story starts with three words. That's the only thing in the story they could make anyone turn away. This is the main characters way to rebel.
He is 23 years old but in his society that age is more like a 16-year-old.
While I believe the story could be enjoyed by all ages I think the target audience is 16 to 25. Being a gamer couldn't hurt either.
I do plan to continue reading the rest of the series.
Twists and turns that'll keep you wondering
This story was awesome! From the first chapter I was hooked and got so into the story that I had to know what was going on. The first half of the book seems so surreal and I thought I knew what was happening and then it turns out that I had no idea what was going on.

Science to build a starship. Wizardry to take it past light speed. A crew to give it a soul.
In the year 2254 gravity was officially declared to be magic; the scientists gave up trying to figure it out and handed it over to the wizards. Without the inherent respect for the laws of physics, the wizards poked and prodded at gravity, poring over all that science knew about the attraction of one object to the next, and dismissed it as poppycock. They discovered ways around the tired, old limits and gave birth to the first true starships. Some enlightened journalist, covering the maiden voyage of the Impossible, noted that the ship was shaped like a hand giving the middle finger to science.
The dreams of children came alive, and humanity expanded into the cosmos, unlocking the secrets of the galaxy. Who could have foreseen that 300 years later, a down-on-his-luck captain would be answering distress calls, hoping to arrive in time to get first pick of the salvage?
A routine salvage job turns into a rescue mission, and a good deed never goes unpunished. With two refugees aboard, Captain Carl Ramsey finds that his ship, the Mobius, has a target painted on its hull. Someone is after the new passengers and willing to stop at nothing to get them back.
With his ex-wife as pilot, a drunken mechanic, a predatory bodyguard, and an outcast wizard from the Convocation, what's a captain to do? Just get paid for the job and try to keep everyone alive. That's all you can ever ask, really.

Could have been a TV script. one hour would be plenty to convey this story. kind of fun but too high a body count. Ruthless murder just because you are the good guys gets tiresome.
    Good storyline
Good story but over priced for the audio companion at over $7 for a 4 hour story. I will not buy anymore until the price is dropped.
    Abrupt ending
    Excellent narration.
I liked the story and universe well enough, but the ending was very sudden. Not really rushed, but out of nowhere.
Having not looked at how much time was left in my listen through, the ending felt more like the end of an act than the entire story. Maybe that's really the case considering it's the first in the series, but I won't be looking to listen to the rest.
    Very enjoyable space story
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. I felt it was a bit slow, but became addicting quickly after.

Disillusioned takes place a little over 100 years after the climactic Battle of Brandsvied at the end of Disenchanted.
The Battle of Brandsveid brought together every king and nobleman in the land in an epic struggle for the future of the Land of Dis, as the armies of the Six Kingdoms united against the monstrous army of Lord Brand. It was the event Vergil, a knight in the service of the Order of Avaress, had waited for his entire life. Unfortunately, he slept through it. In fact, thanks to an accident involving some magic powder, Vergil slept through the next 100 years as well, finally awakening in a world irrevocably changed by the outcome of that epic battle.
Finding himself suddenly an old man, Vergil must try to navigate this strange new world with only the help of his slightly dim but well-meaning servant, Handri. Despite the peaceful, civilized veneer of modern-day Dis, Vergil is convinced that a great evil still threatens the land, and he and Handri set about to uncover and vanquish it. But Vergil's prejudices and chivalric principles prove worse than useless in this strange new world, and he succeeds only in getting himself deeper and deeper in trouble while stirring up simmering animosities between goblins and humans. Can Vergil separate illusion from reality and uncover the true threat to Dis before it's too late?

A Poor Allegory for Race Relations
The books in the Dis series decrease in entertainment value with each installment. Disenchanted was great - lots of humor and fun adventure - and was followed up by Distopia, about which I had my complaints, but still overall found it engaging enough when it was funny. Disillusioned, however, lacks even the humor of its predecessors and feels completely disjointed from the series.
The characters were under-developed and thus uninteresting, and the plot was ridiculous, though not in the amusing way of the first book. Vergil is a fish out of water as a medieval knight suddenly thrust into an industrial era. Through his obstinate bigotry towards the "lesser" races in Dis and his general bumbling, he manages to cause all of the conflict in the book, and while neither of the protagonists in books 1 and 2 were written to be loveable heroes, I at least did not have to listen to hours of racism with them.
As an allegory for real society, the book falls flat due to the "lesson" on racism reading as though it was written by someone who thinks they understand a complex issue in which they believe they are not a participant. The racism demonstrated in the story is absurd not because it is antiquated behavior, but because it sounds as though the author has never talked to anyone who has actually been on the receiving end of racial prejudice.
    I recommend skipping this one.
