    Publisher's Summary:
Before I Fall meets "bah, humbug" in this contemporary YA reimagining of A Christmas Carol from New York Times best-selling author Cynthia Hand.
On Christmas Eve five years ago, 17-year-old Holly Chase was visited by three Ghosts who showed her how selfish and spoiled she'd become. They tried to convince her to mend her ways. She didn't. And then she died.
Now she's stuck working for the top-secret company Project Scrooge - as their latest Ghost of Christmas Past. So far, Holly's afterlife has been miserable. But this year's Scrooge is different. This year's Scrooge might change everything....
The Afterlife of Holly Chase is a witty, poignant, and insightful novel about life, love, and seizing second (or third) chances, perfect for listeners who loved Before I Fall or Dash and Lily's Book of Dares.

    It was a beautiful surprise
The ending was the best part. It touches all my emotional parts, this was a fantastic story with a great message, one that I'll remember for a long time.
    Enjoyed it thoroughly!!
I truly truly enjoyed reading (& listening!) to this book over the holidays. It was one of those books I could not wait to pick up again and perfect for the holiday season. I can honestly say I look forward to reading this book again next holiday season I loved the twist on the Dickens classic. Cynthia Hand did a wonderful job with the characters & world. It was actually one of those books I was sad was over because I felt like I was saying goodbye to friends. I know, I know but im going to miss Holly! Annoying she was at times.
    Sassy, Selfish, and Wonderful
Would you listen to The Afterlife of Holly Chase again? Why?
Yes! I could easily slide this into my personal yearly Christmas traditions. The story was light, meaningful, and completely unexpected. The characters were unique and intriguing, I've never read/listened to such a selfish main character such as Holly Chase and I loved every minute of it. I watch A Christmas Carol in its various formats every year and this book, I believe, had the same type of annual 'replayability' vibe as any other adaptation.
What other book might you compare The Afterlife of Holly Chase to and why?
Obviously, this was a re-envisioning of A Christmas Carol which I have seen film adaptations of time and time again. I was hoping it would both stick-to and break the traditional Christmas Carol format so I wouldn't experience anything that was too copy 'n pasted or too alien. In other words, I've not read many re-imaginings of stories for fear of being let down either way. BUT if you were looking for a good one, this would be a great story to start with.
What does Erin Spencer bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Erin Spencer's attitude and girlish voice acting REALLY brings out the Holly Chase in this novel! If I had read the book first, her narration would probably be EXACTLY what I would hear in my head. She did a great job with Steph and Boss (Baws?). I also appreciated her trying to make the guy voices different, I know that must be difficult.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YES!!! I would have listened to this all in one sitting if I could have. The length isn't too bad but you certainly need a good chunk of time to accomplish that.

SO worth the credit! This book could save lives!
This book touched on SO many issues that I was amazed at how the author wove it all together! I think this should be required reading in schools, right alongside 13 Reasons Why! And the song mentioned in the book (for which it was likely named I assume) was BEAUTIFUL. I even shared it with a friend battling depressing due to health problems. I've been on both ends of the proverbial "spectrum" where suicide is concerned, so I can relate to a lot of the feelings the characters had. This is the type of book that can really help people and I'm SO glad I stumbled upon it. Ms. Lancaster, thank you for using your talent to really inspire change! I u!
    timely
this is her best work since NewBlack.... Her research is solid.

    Best friend sweetness
I was nervous that because it is told as a series of texts that the audio version wouldn't translate as well, but looking at reviews I gave it a shot and I'm glad I did. I think hearing it gave a lot of feeling and nuance I wonder if I would have missed or interpreted differently without their inflection. There was so so much I loved about this book, the way many kinds of love/relationships were shown, the descriptions of each girl exploring what they want and need from the people in their lives as they grow up, the deep beautiful friendship that they both value, the fact they both make such terrible mistakes that of course an 18 year old would make, and yet it is so throughly sweet and funny through the whole thing. Both narrators have their own voice, so I never had to wonder even for a moment who was talking.
makes me miss my best friend so much
I loved every min I miss you so much best friend
    the things we forget
An enlightening novel with a refreshing attitude.
Written by, shockingly, first time writers, this book either ignores every college girl cliche, or flips them in a way that makes something you've heard before feel authentic and real. I haven't seen the YouTube show the authors hit big on before writing this, but if their charismatic and hilarious reading is any indication, it probably has the same charm and wit as this book. A book with no narration might sound odd, or like it might be a limit on how effective the storytelling can be, but that's not the case, at least not with this book. Dunn and Raskin not only never fail to miss a beat in terms of character or emotion, but it's obvious that keeping things as coherent as they were through only email and texting was the most challenging method to tell this story. Dunn and Raskin are more than up to the challenge, however, and here's to hoping they write a follow up real soon.
    More of this
Loved the format and communication between these characters. I gifted the paperback to my best friend (from high school through college to present) and it has taken us both back to our own experience going away to seperate universities. Looking forward to the next project from these amazing women. Buy this book!!
    Holy shit
Do you have a shred of doubt about buying this audiobook? Please abandon that doubt. The performance is intense and the book sweet and bitter and bittersweet and emotionally vulnerable in ways I wish I had more of.

    Genres: Teens, Fiction & Literature
    Publisher's Summary:
The highly anticipated standalone from the award-winning, New York Times best-selling author of the Graceling Realm series - a kaleidoscopic novel about grief, adventure, storytelling, and finding yourself in a world of seemingly infinite choices.
Jane has lived an ordinary life, raised by her aunt Magnolia - an adjunct professor and deep sea photographer. Jane counted on Magnolia to make the world feel expansive and to turn life into an adventure. But Aunt Magnolia was lost a few months ago in Antarctica on one of her expeditions.
Now, with no direction, a year out of high school, and obsessed with making umbrellas that look like her own dreams (but mostly just mourning her aunt), she is easily swept away by Kiran Thrash - a glamorous, capricious acquaintance who shows up and asks Jane to accompany her to a gala at her family's island mansion called Tu Reviens.
Jane remembers her aunt telling her: "If anyone ever invites to you to Tu Reviens, promise me that you'll go." With nothing but a trunkful of umbrella parts to her name, Jane ventures out to the Thrash estate. Then her story takes a turn, or, rather, five turns. What Jane doesn't know is that Tu Reviens will offer her choices that can ultimately determine the course of her untethered life. But at Tu Reviens, every choice comes with a reward, or a price.
Listen to Jane, Unlimited and remember why the New York Times has raved, "Some authors can tell a good story; some can write well. Cashore is one of the rare novelists who do both."

    excellent
this book was delightful. I really enjoyed the different tracks that takes depending on Jane's decisions. I'm not sure which one was my favorite, I'll have to listen to it again and will do so happily.
    I wish there were more!
I love Kristin Cashore. I follow her blog. I love her journeys she goes on while writing these stories for us to enjoy, and I know these are her babies. She and I are around the same age and think very similarly in a lot of ways, and Im sad that I cant respond to her blog posts.
That being said... this felt incomplete. Each story left me wanting more, and wondering what would happen next. The only one with a solid ending was the horror story, which was truly horrific and actually kind of gave me nightmares. Girlfriend can write some horror. The last story was the most fulfilling of them all, but I was genuinely bothered that she didnt stop the art thieves, or find out if Octavian Thrash ever joined Charlotte, etc. it seems like the spy story fulfilled itself in the fantasy story as well, which was mildly gratifying. I also really want a pet velociraptor now. But I wanted more. It felt like tapasa taste of each journey she could experience based on her choice and no real resolution, which left me feeling a little dissatisfied.
The audiobook was initially confusing as well because it didnt really format itself like a choose your own adventure book, so when it cycled back to the second choice I was literally rewinding and saying, What on earth!? Then Kristin came out with her blog about the story and it all made sense. If I had the hardback it perhaps wouldnt have been as confusing.
Needless to say, it was an intriguing format, with a character who was complex and a cast of characters that I liked a lot. Except for Charlotte. I didnt like her.
    Gave me a headache
Struggled to finish. Sorry I paid money for it. Found the narrator annoying.

An engaging story of practical feminism and a narrator who is a joy to listen to.
    Loved it!
    Loved it!
It was a little forced with the messaging, but all together this was a great book. The message is important and valid... I just wish it had blended into the story a little better. The character of Seth was awesome, but felt almost like a caricature of a male feminist supporter. Still, it was nice of the author to show what a healthy relationship looks like in a YA novel. When her fate rests on an impossible choice, is she brave enough to make one?
As if lousy parents, a plethora of social inhibitions, and a complicated love triangle weren't enough problems, Lexus Wren just discovered she's a powerful Catalyst, capable of commanding Conduits to do her bidding. Pretty heady stuff for a 15-year-old who can't control her own urge to bite her nails.
When another Catalyst invites Lexus and her twin would-be boyfriends to leave behind their new family and enroll in a school for "gifted students" or risk permanent separation, Lexus is forced to make a choice, and she's never been very good at that, either.
Suddenly surrounded by others of her kind, Lexus quickly learns that her abilities are greater than she ever imagined, and the twins are not the only people who crave her touch. When she's caught in the middle of a battle for power, can the boys set aside the competition between them in time to protect her from herself?
If you like paranormal romance stories with supernatural magic, a love triangle hotter than Twilight, and John Green-style teenage angst, you'll be captivated by Growing Wings!

    Awesome
What a wonderful story to listen to. The narrator was extremely pleasant and have since listened again. Being someone different isnt easy and having friends who are the same is great. Together they can feel as if they are normal .
    Catalysts and Conduits
You definitely want to read Book 1 Flightless Bird to get the full story. I like the Catalysts and Conduits idea - its new and something I have not seen done before. That being said I am totally over the love triangle and Lexus is a weak and whiney lead. This could be a really great series with more focus on their special abilities and powers and less on the love triangle. I am hoping Lexus will get some confidence and a backbone in book 3.
    Great read/listen
My second read/listen from author Kellie McAllen the follow-up to Flightless Bird (The Caged Series, #1) WOW! I love it! So much that Taking Flight (The Caged #3) will be my next read. High school sucks, the age the stuff that some kids have to go through. This book touches on all that and more. No spoilers here this is a must read, buy the book, get into the book/series as I have. You too will enjoy it!
I have to say the book was better than the narration, there was an audible "tinny" sound throughout the book no matter what device I listened to it on.
    The spark grows
Growing Wings is the second book in The Caged Series and it picks up right where book 1 left off.
Lexis, Phoenix, and Griffin are given the opportunity to attend a school for special kids. (I love the whole concept of the catalysts and conduits.) This school opens up a whole new way of life for the three of them, however not everything is perfect.
I'm anxiously awaiting the next story in the series to see how the cliffhanger is resolved.
    Paranormal Y.A.
I enjoyed the book. I really like paranormal Y.A. The teens in the book have some powers and then go to a school to learn how to manage them. The love triangle was different because it involved two brothers, which made for some drama. Some exciting moments in the book, especially at the end. I'd like to read or listen to more books in this series so I can find out what happens with Lexus, Griffin, and Phoenix.

This book is awesome!!!! This is a must read .She is a wonderful author and knows how to bring the point about drinking and driving and the effects it has on the survivors.
    Moving Story
When I first started listening to this book I thought it would be a lighthearted story. I was surprised when it took a turn and became so much deeper. Jennifer did a really good job showing the process of grief, guilt, and learning to move on after a horrible tragedy. Even though it was very painful at times to stay with the story, I couldn't put it down because it was so well written. I enjoyed the characters and the growth Lena underwent throughout the book.

I really enjoyed the real life issues Jen tackles in this book. These are issues that can happen to ANYONE. She really hits the nail on the head with this one. It makes it an enjoyable read because it's very relatable.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved Sebastian! I picture him as a young Jensen Ackles. He's sweet and you just can't dislike him. Total "boy next door" vibe.
What about Jorjeana Maries performance did you like?
She did a very good job with the performance of this title. Her tone captures the feelings of the character very well. Excellent work!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

A welcome new twist on a lackluster classic
A fresh new look based roughly on the tale of Snow White but with powerful, complex female characters.
Things I loved: That the love stories portrayed were all unique and unexpected. Not confined to romantic attraction and not limited to heterosexual relationships. Fully developed characters. Loved a chance to hear the story from two different character's perspectives.
Things I didn't love: A lot of the story was simply introspective internal dialect. While well done, it made the story move a bit slowly and be a bit dull at points.
However, I would definitely recommend and was glad to stumble across this gem!
    Refreshing Female Fairy Tale
Refreshing version of Snow White. Strong relatable female characters. Entertaining story with a good pace. Finally a story where the Step Mother is kind and loving! My two oldest children were wedding presents from my husband. I didnt create them - but they have always been my kids. Never once have I referred to them as "Step". This is the 1st story where a 2nd Mom is a character I can cheer for.

From USA TODAY Bestselling Author, C. L. Stone, listen to Forgiveness and Permission, the fourth book in The Academy Ghost Bird Series.
Sang Sorenson's abusive mother is secure in a hospital, and her father has vanished to a new family of his own, leaving Sang and her sister to fend for themselves. Sang is hanging by a thread, and her only hope is a group of boys she feels she barely knows. She's never really alone. The Academy team has stepped in, promising to protect and care for Sang. Kota, Victor, Silas, Nathan, Gabriel, Luke and North take over, showing Sang they can be depended on for anything.
But just because the parents are away, doesn't mean Sang's life has become any easier. The newfound freedom will have a higher price than any of them had imagined. Principal Hendricks now wants to use Sang to exploit Academy secrets. Mr. McCoy has his own dark plans for her. Enemies are closing in.
Sang will need to learn to believe in the boys, and the boys will need to learn to trust her if they want to survive their rivals. And each other. The Academy, relentless trust.
