Pilot Pete England used to think there was nothing more exciting in the world than flying off into the wild blue yonder. But lately the blue yonder hasnt been wild at all . . . its been downright dull. Petes like a jaded Clark Gable whos hungry for adventureand hes about to get his fill.
Pete has fallen into a rut, flying the same routeNew York to D.C.with the same passengers, day after day after day. He might as well be driving a bus . . . until her highness climbs aboard. Apparently a princess, shes the Carole Lombard to Petes Clark Gable, and for one flight, shes bought up every ticket on the plane.
Once Pete gets her into the air, the action heats up fast. He learns that the lady is at the center of some international intrigue that could turn the tide of war . . . and now a mysterious plane is on their tail, bent on shooting them out of the sky. But thats the least of Petes concerns. Theres more to this princess than meets the eye, and falling in love with her could turn out to be the greatest flight risk of all.
As a barnstorming pilot in the early days of aviation, Hubbard was dubbed Flash Hubbard by the aviation magazines of the day. Expanding his knowledge even more, he visited Boeing in Seattle where the president and chief engineer gave him an inside look at their test pilot program. His unique and pioneering insight of flight streaks across the page in novels like The Battling Pilot.

Pete England flies for the ACA fleet on the Washington to New York run, and complains itâs the same thing every day, and he knows every farm house and bush along the way. And then, one day that all changes. First, heâs assigned a new copilot, Tom Duffy, and then his regular passengers are left standing while a beautiful young princess and her companion, the elderly Louise are escorted on the plane. They will be his only passengers on this run. Things start going from bad to worse when another plane forces them down, and Princess Maritza and Louise are taken prisoner, along with Pete and Duffy.
This was another great action story by the author, this time even with an air fight over US soil. A storyteller of many genres, the author is a master of action and great characters. The story was originally published in March 1937 issue of FIVE-NOVELS magazine. Highly recommended for aviation fans, and lovers of great story telling adventure.
An Exciting Air-Adventure
Filled with terror, excitement, kidnapping, and a case of mistaken identity, this book keeps you on the edge of your seat, and guessing what will happen next, the whole way through.
You can't help but feel bad for Pete England as he is tired of how routine his life has become, which has turned him into a tired, and moody person. Taking his anger out on everyone that crosses his path, Pete's life as he knows it is soon turned upside down. He quickly finds himself in the middle of a terrifying situation, all the while falling for a princess. Risking his life, as well as the life of his copilot, Pete becomes quite a brave man trying to save the princess and take down the man that is out to get her.
