    HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If this is called romance then the writer does not know the first thing about it. I could not even look at the how it was written b/c the story ended despicable. I have never written a review before, but I feel I must warn others who might think this would be a good read. I am disgusted that I have the story in my brain and it won't go away.
    SPOILER*****************************************
The so called H decided his promotions would keep him in the long run instead of saving the h. He 'signed' the order to have h killed! Then found out there were pictures of her death and obtained them and saw what was done to her in detail. He then put his feelings for her way back in his thoughts and had a drink! END OF BOOK!
    End of spoiler
    **********************************************************
I need a drink and hope I don't remember this book at all. I don't care if the story shows her as an informant. If she was such trouble for him to be involved with he should have stayed away.
This is not romance, but a sick story. It was deleted from my kindle the minute I finished reading it. Will not be reading anything from this writer again.
The download was bad as well. I tried every way possible to get the pages to stop clipping the last words of each sentence off. I just had to make up the words myself.
    Don't buy or read!!! IMO.............
    What a Story!
What a story! You can tell from some other people that this story will mess with your head. Whether that's good or bad depends on you. For me the story was visceral and really gets into you. I like that. There were definitely some parts of the story that get bogged down with details, but overall I enjoyed it. Give it a chance.
    Intriguing story
Read this because I liked a previous story by the author. Found the story to be very engaging, and though it's tragic, it was a worthwhile read. If you don't like tragic or sad stories don't read it, but if you don't mind stories like that, you should enjoy (or be able to mull over) this one. Nothing else to say, really.
    "To Love a Rat" review
Read this piece in one sitting. This is the kind of story that makes you think. a lot. It is very bold, macabre and in your face, without being too obvious. I liked the fact that the love (is that the right word?) story is the focus, while the war rages in the back ground.

    A very good read
Brian Knight is a very good writer. No wonder I should get a very good read out of this book. Dragonfly pulls no punches. It has points to make, forces you to think, while at the same time is entertaining as hell. I've always been a horror fan but have grown tired of a lot of what is being released these days. Dragonfly is refreshing. A helpful reminder for why I love the genre in the first place. I look forward to seeing more from this man in the future.
Poignant and visceral, with a distinctive hometown feel
Brian Knight writes stories that take place in an area I grew up in, which lends a certain visceral attachment for me. I suspect that this is how Stephen King readers from certain places in Maine feel.
However - I suspect that even if you're not from the Pacific Northwest, this collection will still have a lasting impact. Each story stands on its own, but most are subtly attached to each other in a wider fabric. Each story has a raw human element that leaves the reader simultaneously glad that it's over and aching for more. Knight's characters are real, and often deeply flawed in a way that deepens the horror of the ideas he's presenting.
I'd highly reccomend this collection to any horror afficinado, or anyone interested in taking a peek at the underbelly of the rural Pacific Northwest.
    Versatile and chilling
Brian has a way of grabbing and holding your attention, even if you don't like horror fiction. I don't, but I liked Dragonfly. This is a composite of short stories, with enough theme and character variety to keep everything fresh and me looking forward to the next story. Some of the stories deal with hard issues, ie. child abuse, rape, violence against women. The issues aren't sugar-coated, or swept aside. I liked how he approached hard issues and how his characters dealt with them. Other stories are there just to scare you and make you wonder what goes on in the mind of a horror writer. Definitely worth a read if you're into horror.
    Wow what a great book
after reading this book it makes me wonder about the type of person the author is. WOW... first he plunks those heart strings to grab you and hold on, then scares the bejeebers out of you... wow, this author is amazing. Expect great things to come from this author, is it any wonder his name falls between King and Koontz.... This guy is great and I expect him to be on the best sellers list with both of these guys.

Not so sure about this story
Will, I will write this directly to you. I think I am struggling most with the writing style, not so much the context, but then again, I am an overly descriptive person in my own writing, and speaking style, so will not hold that against you.
I should say that I am a senior myself (just turned sixty-five a mere ten days ago, in fact) AND I work as an office assistant/leasing agent in a Senior apartment complex. I KNOW the women, on the whole, are man hungry and lonely and ironically, I myself developed a Huge crush on a handsome widower that I cannot pursue. And I can see the described type of situation happening, to a degree, but a reticent woman falling in love with the blind neighbor and he with her, just like that, her suddenly having a stroke, and him then killing himself (how, by the way?) when she passes, well, perhaps it's just too cut and dried and not believable to ME. Others may not feel the same way.
We all have our writing and reading styles and preferences and that's why there are so many good or great writers, to fill those tastes. I was just not touched by this particular story. Real or not.
    New love
I gave this book a five star rating. It was to short would have enjoyed a novel. It shows that there can always be love for anyone no matter what your age is, glad they found one another. Recommend this short story
    Five Stars
    Great short story
    to short
i expected a longer book and it was to sad. I want a friend to but not one thats going to kick the bucket in 10 pages.
A Touching Story of Love and Life Lessons
This story is amazing because in such a simple telling we learn or are reminded of so many lessons. Lessons on love. Lessons on giving. Lessons on trust. Lessons on choosing our words carefully. I love how perfectly Will captures the gossipy old women. How he touches us with humor. Shows us strength in the face of loss. Most importantly, reminds us of how important it is to love, to share our life with someone, to have a friend and to be one.
Please, take the time to read this story. Think about the lessons it shares. Those we can learn from the main character Tara, the blind man Jim, and the son.

    Publisher's Summary:
The Good, Good Sheriff melds the short-story format with prose designed to make you feel as if the author is weaving a tale just for you, the listener. The overarching theme for this collection is based on the purist form of existentialist philosophy: existing as an individual. Some of the stories will make you laugh while others may bring a tear, yet all will make you ponder thoughts of personal growth and the relationship of the individual to society as a whole.

Big Surprises come in Small Packages
When I bought this book, I expected just short stories that were "cute"...but I was totally knocked for a loop when I read the first story. The author puts you right there with the action and you know what the characters are thinking because it's like they're talking to you and you only. In one of the stories, you feel like you're reading an adventure story and waiting for the main character to meet his fate...just wondering how he is going to get himself out of "this" one. I would recommend it to anybody who enjoys some light reading with a twist.
    Existentialism Made Easy
"The Good, Good Sheriff and Other Voices" is a collection of short stories that stress free will and personal responsibility. Although works of fiction, each story, whether it be centered around young love, hospital visits, or stolen treasure, can be identified with and applied to everyday life. Personal standouts "Lori's Eyes" and "Double Take" are relayed with a particular casualness and intimacy that allows the reader to easily picture scene after scene with great fluidity. All in all, "The Good, Good Sheriff" is a complete work by an author who evidently has a talent for creating stories aimed at the individual.
    What a great book
I was fortunate enough to meet the author, Joe, before I read his book. I talked with him for a while and was able to get to know him a little. He asked me if I was interested, or had read about, existential philosophy. At the time we talked I had not read anything on it. He said the book was based on those principles. I took the time to read the book. It was great! He is able to quickly capture your attention and hold onto it one page after another. I was constantly reading in a way that I was always excited to see what was going to happen next. This book is definitely worth the read, and does touch on the principles that I feel existential philosophy, in my limited understanding, is really about. Joe has been nice enough through emails to also keep me pointed in the right direction through my readings on philosophy as well. In summary it's a great book that's sure not to disappoint.
    O.M.G. I Like to Read Again . . .
Ever just read a first sentence and never stop? You will on this one. You will not stop until the first story is complete but then you will put the book down and re-live the characters and the plot and think about your own life and then something will compel you to read the second story and then it will happen all over again. It is hard to pick a favorite but I think the story Lori's Eyes will someday be a made for T.V. movie - good job.
    Good, Emotional, Yet Funny Read
I was really surprised after reading the book to learn that the author did in fact write each story. I thought it was a collection. I don't know how this guy finds all those different voices. I loved it.
