Tim sure knows his way around a microphone.

Jerry dropped Tim off at the studio at the end of the day, and Tim insisted he could walk the half block to his car, thank you very much. And, by the way, he kept the microphone overnight to practice his introductions in the mirror. (Tim hosted a reality TV show, conducting interviews on the street.)

Let's just say the studio wasn't in the best part of town. Good thing the car was only half a block away. Oh, no! It's not there! Now what's he going to do? He isn't that familiar with this part of town in the daylight, and he has no idea which way to go in the dark.

Finally seeing the lights of a service station down the road, Tim started walking. Could he make it there safely? All he had on him was the microphone. What kind of protection is that on these mean streets? Perhaps he was about to find out....

Good little story for a coffee break. Really short so it only takes a few minutes to read.

Good story.

Read all the multi-packs and shorts packs long ago, since 2012. The author has gotten better with age/practice. I've read almost all of the Cooper stories (1 - 230) and several of Mr. Bernico's short stories and most have not disappointed me. You'll find some poorly written or predictable stories, but for the most part they are fair to good. The Cooper series are better, but there's a few stinkers, too. They're great for a coffee break or a few minutes to relax.

According to plan

Poor guy. Only 3 months to live before the cancer takes him. The insurance won't pay for that - pre-existing of course. Better hire a hit man to take you out.

One thing though: you don't want to see it coming.

They never do, my man. They never do.

Enjoyed the ending. Worth reading when you have a few spare minutes.

Another "be careful what you wish for" story

Penelope is growing tired of being ignored. When a new employee sits at the desk next to her so that Penelope can train her, Debbie explains a few things about men and the business world. She tells Penelope what she did to be noticed.

After watching Debbie move up so quickly, Penelope decides to go for it: she's definitely getting implants for her vacation. SOMEBODY is going to notice she's alive!

Yep. She got noticed. Only one problem: it wasn't exactly like she'd imagined it would be.

While this wasn't particularly surprising, it was still a good story. And it DOES make you wonder if getting what you wish for is such a good thing after all. Sometimes you just might get MORE than you wish!

Take a chance and check out this short story. Definitely worth the time it takes to read if for no other reason than to make you reconsider what you think you want.

Not What I expected

Loved the story and the surprise ending. Just goes to show that getting all of attention may not be all that you'd think it would be. Thanks for sharing your stories with us. They are very interesting.

a little disturbing

Was this book for women to read? I got it because of the book description, but I almost passed it over because of the cover. Yes, I know... can't judge a book and all that. The writing is very good, but the ending is a little disturbing. I hope nothing is being implied there.

Penelope goes from dressing like a nun to getting implants and showing them off. It's a very short story. I would have liked to have seen more in the life of Penelope after her decision to change her life so drastically.

The best laid plans.....

Fun little story that will make you smile. You lost your job, but you still need to provide for your family. Without money how are you going to do that? Hold up the local tavern of course! What you lack in experience you'll just have to make up in determination.

OK - Take some deep breaths and get on with it! Oops! Waited too long, and now someone has beaten you to the punch! Well, you'll show them! Go get your money!

Definitely not how you'd planned the whole scenario, but it'll have to do. Now all that's left is to get out of Dodge..... Or not.

Nope. This is not going according to plan, but maybe it's better this way.

Great way to spend a few minutes so get your copy and find out what happened.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Bar...

"Holdup" is very amusing. I read it on the bus during my evening commute, and the miles flew by. I enjoyed so much that I caught myself grinning ear to ear and chuckling out loud.

I guess it is true what "they" say. Everyone gets what's coming to them in the end!

Slow start but hang in there

This story didn't really begin as a story at all: it was simply Bill yapping about his file of his favorite links for his writing. "How to" links or links for helpful advice - however you want to say it. Then links to his favorite authors. I almost stopped reading because I was not the least bit interested in his favorite links, but I really had to see if that was all this book had to offer.

Hang in there. Once he finally stops making a list of his favorite links, there IS a story to read. Even that isn't all that spectacular at the beginning, but it has a GREAT ending! One that actually makes it worth it to have stuck with reading it through all the lists. Hard to believe, but true.

It only takes a few minutes so give it a chance.

My kind of story

I like to have short stories to read while waiting for something. I had this story on my phone and read it while waiting for a doctor to appear. How can so few pages contain such a fun story? Only if it is written by a skilled author. I think Bill Bernico had fun writing this and I sure had fun reading it.

Hook, Line, and Sinker

This was a quick, fun read! I know this author so I swallowed the story hook, line, and sinker. It was aubiographical from the start. What a funny twist at the end! Try it, you'll like it!

New kid on the block

This was a great short story. I know this would happen to me if I idolized someone like that. Good read.
