    Title: The Incurables
    Author: Mark Brazaitis
    Narrator: William Coon
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 8 hrs and 2 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-08-13
    Publisher: Mark Brazaitis
Ratings: 2.5 of 5 out of 2 votes
Genres: Fiction, Short Stories & Anthologies
    Publisher's Summary:
In his latest collection of literary fiction, Mark Brazaitis evokes with sympathy, insight, and humor the lives of characters in a small Ohio town. The ten short stories of The Incurables limn the mental landscape of people facing conditions they believe are insolvable, from the oppressive horrors of mental illness to the beguiling and baffling complexities of romantic and familial love.
Other stories in the collection include "A Map of the Forbidden," about a straight-laced man who is tempted to cheat on his wife after his adulterous father dies, and "The Boy Behind the Tree," about a problematic father-son relationship made more so by the arrival on the scene of a young man the son's age. In "I Return," a father narrates a story from the afterlife, discovering as he does so that he is not as indispensable to his family as he had believed.

    Mixed bag of fun!
This is my first Mark Brazaitis and it was a really good first meeting! I really enjoy short stories, and these were almost perfect, i really enjoyed the story about the town that suddenly got people that jumped of a bridge to kill them self! Other then that there was a mixed bag of fun, that not always hit me, but there was no stories that made me wish i would not hear it! Mark Brazaitis first meeting with me is a meeting i want again, so i give him a hig 4,4 out of 5!
William Coon is brilliant as he is always! I loved him in Stories to Read While Driving: Kill the King and Other Tales and Changing Michael! I still love him! I said in one of the books that: "He is funny when needed, and not when needed. There is something about William Coon that is had to explain, he has the "x-factor" and that shows so clear in this book" I feel the same here! 8 hrs and 2 mins in William Coon is perfect compony! William Coon is that good!
I was provided this audiobook at no charge for a honest review from the narrator.

    Title: Snowybrook Inn
    Subtitle: Book 2
    Author: Scott Reeves
    Narrator: Scot Wilcox
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 19 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-01-13
    Publisher: Scott Reeves
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 5 votes
Genres: Fiction, Short Stories & Anthologies
    Publisher's Summary:
Welcome to the magical land of Snowybrook Vale! While you're here, enjoy good company, fine drink, and elegant lodging, all to be had at Vale's premier vacation spot, Snowybrook Inn. But if you venture into the countryside, watch out for shadows! Because Goblins lurk behind every rock, and Imperial soldiers are always around, looking to teach unruly frontiersmen a lesson.
Snowybrook Inn is an ongoing whimsical fantasy series in an episodic format. Each audiobook consists of four to five stand-alone short stories featuring the same main characters. There's not much of an ongoing story, so you can pretty much pick up and start listening anywhere in the series without missing anything crucial.
In this second audiobook, the Snowybrook Inn is haunted by a ghost, Fairdawn is caught out in a Banshee blizzard, and Bubba takes a disastrous day off. Finally, the last god remaining among mortals decides it's time to leave, and Fairdawn seeks a boon from him.
Stories in this volume include: "The Ghost," "The King's Rings," "Bubba's Day Off," and "The Last God."

    Entertaining But Undeveloped
This is the second issue of the ongoing series Snowybrook Inn, which follows the owners of the Snowybrook Inn as fantasy adventures come to them and impact their lives. The first issue did an entertaining job of setting up the setting and characters, and this second issue built on this. The story was fun, and the characters well used. However, the plot flew by without the depth that I felt could be there. In the space of a few pages, a character is introduced, goes from a object of distaste to being reconciled and becoming good, to dying. In the space of time giving to it, it made the protagonists of the story seem foolish to dislike the oppressive governmental figure, rather than showing any character growth. If this story, instead of being a one-issue standalone, had been given a number of issues to spread out and be fully explored, it could have been much better. However, having enjoyed the first issue, and thinking the second issue wasn't bad, just not all it could be, I will be keeping my eyes out for Snowybrook Inn #3.

    Amusingly tales with a twist
    Any additional comments?
A series of short stories, all with a twist, beautifully read by Joanna David and Anne Reid
    Gracious Lies
Anne Reid and Joanna David bring these five short stories to life. I loved every minute of this very funny but dark audiobook. After following Hilda Lolly's Ramblings on line, I was overjoyed when I heard that there would be an audio of short stories. Each story is an audible gem from husband and wife Leonard and Audrey on holiday to the redoubtable Dobbo looking after the inheritance of the Barefoot family. A thoroughly 5 star listen. So please Hilda get your computer out and get some more penned.

    Author: Martin Armstrong

Length: 5 hrs and 16 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 06-13-13
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Genres: Fiction, Short Stories & Anthologies
    Publisher's Summary:
This new volume of tales show, that show that Martin Armstrong had no intention of abandoning the short story, and it displays, besides, a breadth of treatment and sureness of touch considerably in advance of the Bazaar and the earlier Puppet Show. Like them, it contains a selection which ranges from fantastic farce, as in Aunt Hetty, to grim realism, as in The Patrol. Some listeners say they do not like short stories. This is an audiobook which will dispel their prejudice.
Martin Donisthorpe Armstrong (1882 - 1974) was an English writer and poet, known for his stories. He was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and educated at Charterhouse and Pembroke College, Cambridge. He served in World War I in the British Army in France - a Private in the Artists' Rifles, he was commissioned into the Middlesex Regiment in 1915 and promoted Lieutenant in 1916. He was included in the final Georgian Poetry anthology. He married in 1929 Canadian writer Jessie McDonald after she had divorced Conrad Aiken, making Armstrong the stepfather of the young Joan Aiken. If you love writing, this book will make you feel connected with a passionate & funny group of people who share your love. The illustrations are memorable, & sometimes haunting. The quotes from Hemingway & others will inspire you. Goes with Charlie Haden's American Dream.

A stroll down Charles Street in Beacon Hill feels like a step back in time the 19th century, in fact. Stop at 77 Charles St. & you'll find yourself at The Sevens Pub, a historic establishment that opened in 1933. If it happens to be a Tuesday night at 7, you'll often see a group of writers huddled in the left window of the pub, discussing everything from Walt Whitman to the origin of the universe. They are WritersAnonymous.
    -Boston Globe
As you savor these succinct musings, you realize you do not need a lot of words to convey something poignant and powerful. It is above all the brevity of the language that is the engine that provides the inspiration that perhaps, will enable you to embrace the challenge with both trepidation and delight.

On most good days, if we're not trying to suck the cerebral cortex out of some wannabe writer's eye sockets, at The Rag we like nothing more than the opportunity to vomit chunks on some new book. But this isn't the case with Seven At The Sevens. Buy it & read it.
-The Rag, Lower East Side, NY
    Critic Reviews:
"Elvis Costello, Angelina Jolie, Jason Schwartzman and Michelle Obama were all spotted recently with a new book believed to be a copy of SEVEN AT THE SEVENS, often described as Hemingway meets Kerouac and all hell breaks loose. The writers of WritersAnonymous.org are indeed living a satire of their own lives. However, this statement is both unsubstantiated and confusing." (The Onion, Chicago/NYC)
"It's in your best interest never to underestimate beautiful women or this beautiful book." (Student, NYU)
"The constraint of having to limit utterances to seven words is inspiring. They resemble the one-line poems of John Ashbery. Highly collaborative, like a friendly game in which everyone wins. The ultimate result is hilarity." (Writer's Digest - this text refers to the paperback edition)

Seven "chapters" of prologue? No thanks.
I was curious what this free, quirky title might be about.
After 20 minutes of "what they have to say" and "how this came to be", I was no longer curious.
I still don't know, but now I don't care. Tedious introductions ruined it; I hope your experience is better than mine was.

I managed to get back to this earlier book, and I am glad I got the beginning.
I have read the later versions of his snapshots of a longer work. I finally got back to the beginning before I got on this site to read off my kindle. His backdrop of the beginning further enhanced my wishes to keep reading his descriptions and story-line of this enslave person and see his out come in the story. All of the questions will someday be answered, as the author keeps us on the edge waiting for the outcome. I was not disappointed.
    didn't get it
I didn't get this one either. It was written very well but I didn't follow it so I will not purchase the book. I think it was a short teaser into the full story. Sorry.
    Two Stars
    not interesting and too evil
    A good taster
This short story was very good and left me wanting more. I look forward to more of the same well done.
