If what you what is a collection of editorials about the incident on the Mavi Marmara, this is your book

This book has a collection of upwards of 50 editorials or short essays on what happened that night and the conditions before and after in Gaza. It has a collection of Israeli, Palestinian, Turkish, Palestinian, etc writers who discuss various topics relatively relevant to the issue. If you have little background on the subject, it is very interesting, otherwise you might be bored. It has some interesting facts and figures about Gaza that are in various reports etc, but has no original research. It is a nice break from general academic reading on Israel-Palestine, but lacks in solid research and analysis.

Inspirational and Fast Read

"Now or Never" walks us through the history of America's degradation and points the way to the redemption and good health of our beloved country. DeMint has an easy, flowing writing style; and he makes a detailed and compelling case for the action we must take. He is a true patriot and energetic leader.

Seemed a little repetitive to me

I suppose I was looking for better narrative but what I got was little more than one could learn from reading good newspapers or political websites. And not many "specific" examples of how to really reverse our economic maladies.

A Must Read Before the 2012 Election

Any voting American should read this book before the November election. People have no idea how far off course our government has taken this country. We are near the point of no return and must change course this election; otherwise we will become Greece. Big government does not work!

Clear picture of this years challenge for America

Jim DeMint does an excellent job of presenting the facts as they exist today and the economic dangers we face as an individual and a country should we fail to significantly change course.

Now or Never

This book is direct and to the point. It gives several suggestions how to retrieve America from its current abyss. It deals with all the obstructionism in Congress and more.

Not Up To Author's Usual High Standards

I have always enjoyed Delingpole's writing and commentary -- particularly the dry, informed wit he brings as an English Conservative commenting on issues just now facing Americans -- but this one falls short. Unlike most everything else he's written, it's neither all that funny or particularly incisive. In tone, it feels a bit like a Conservative version of one of those monumentally unfunny Al Franken "I Hate Republicans" books. For a better sense of Delingpole's normally clever and intelligent writing, try "Welcome to Obamaland."

A comprehensive, insightful and informative history of the Conservatives.

It provides interesting and edifying detail to the trials and triumphs of British Conservatism.

It dispels the myths surrounding the leaders, movers and shakers of Conservatism and lays bare the party's inherent pragmatism.

The authors clear loyalty and commitment to all things Thatcher is understandable given his background and forgivable given the huge impact she undoubtedly had on the Party and the country.

If you want to understand the a conservative Party better this is a very good starting point.

The narrator is also excellent and brings what is a very dry subject as much to life as I think is possible.

Well worth the effort all round.

What disappointed you about Patriot Acts?

Factually incorrect in many areas. Makes assumptions about the relation of morality and religion that are not supposed to be questioned. More interested in her vision than what is logical.

Yup This is One of Those Books and I Love It

If you couldn't tell by the title that this books isn't for those with liberal mindsets. What exactly have you been smoking? It's a nice set of political columns formed into a book. Mostly its about how a lot of the proposed new legislation is following what has already been done in Europe, and guess what the author isn't to happy with it.

I happen to love this style of book but be careful because its not a book that will last as its relevancy tends to wane with the shifting political landscape. Its a good preach to the choir type book about how bad things can get and how bad some things are. But again just like books on how bad some of Clinton Administration or Bush Administration are only semi relevant this one will eventually lose its urgency.

Surprise! The Truth Hurts

Leigh and Harding only falter a few times in this fast-moving, bio-scandal hybrid about Assange and Manning, and the leak of many secret documents.

1. FOX NEWS wants Assange assassinated.

2. Senator Lieberman wants Assange terminated.

3. Hillary Clinton would like Assange to be erased.

4. But, then, a few months after the massive leak, America learns that the leaks actually increased the popularity of the USA among the regular people in the Middle-East.

5. Yes, the clear, colorful descriptions of criminal elements in Russia, Iraq and Afghanistan really made citizens of these countries both angry at their leaders and happier about the USA.

6. So, the USA backed off...a little.

7. But, today, Manning is still locked up and Assange can't go out and play.

8. Obama's State Department seems aware and useful.

9. But, Obama and the USA military remain angry cretins.

10. We learn, basically, that leaks can help the world.

11. But, pity the poor leakers.

12. They must be punished and tortured and kept in solitary and hurt and criticized and deported or jailed or killed or driven insane.

13. Nice country you've made, Mr. President.

14. And, by the way, keep up the drone assassinations of brown people. These killings are really getting you support among the innocent victims.

Interesting read

I'm sure that Julian Assange wasn't too happy with some of the stuff in this book, but it seems like the authors tried to be a little less partisan than they could have been. I have a great respect for Wikileaks and the media as a result of reading this book.

This is a book that I (a) love and (b) dread reading further.

The essence of the message (so far, only 50% thru) is that Washington is a feckless mess, and also that we're all screwed. I love the confirmation of my fears as I've watched our political and governmental system circling the drain during my 60 years circling the sun, but I hate to admit that the solution is us and we aren't willing to be the solution. It's like every Political Science Professor's warning has come true...your government is a reflection of you (and that's ALL of you, not just the good part.)

But, I still recommend it if you're interested in current events and politics.

Note to author: you got some bad advice from your editor when you inserted all that supporting documentation in tiny print...the reprinted letters and articles from various political figures. Reference them, or if you must print (since the web is a moving target and links vanish) use an Appendix approach instead of inserting the supporting material in the flow of the writing.

MUST READ

Absolutely must read for all Americans. Tom Coburn, retired Senator, is a brilliant author -- was a brilliant statesman -- and I wish we had more men like him in congress. How did we let this gang take charge? Coburn delves into the corruption going on in our Federal government and takes no prisoners. This is a great informational book -- filled with facts and figures -- and proof, in my mind, there has been a breach of trust.

Tom Coburn, a self imposed three term congressman, writes from his own experience about the negative side of the US congress and federal government. He explains how so many politicians, even those with initially good intents, end up being career politicians, that put much more emphasis on being elected again rather than taking the right hard choices. He gives plenty of examples from his own republican party and the democratic party as well - Mr. Coburn emphasis is that careerism, corruption, and wasteful spending, is rampant regardless of party affiliation.

Good book to read and understand how many of the US elected officials betray their principles and their duty by putting their career first. I find Mr. Coburn to be honest and insightful.

And a complex line it is

This was a very fine book, with many nuanced vignettes of the interplay of public and private actors. Imagine, for example, denizens of gated communities disputing with adjacent police forces about who controls and pays for what. I do have one complaint, which is, I would be happier if the book opened with a nice history and tutorial, a sort of classic overview of this subject, and various concepts and implementations historically. I felt like I was plunked down in the middle of the movie: contemporary anecdotal situations. This is an evolving area and this book makes a good contribution.
