After reading the book on Bohr, I expected more details about Galileo's inventions, specifically the telescope. This read more like an analysis of his personality than of his scientific contributions.

Helpful and witty content but too much plugging

Would you listen to Happily Even After again? Why?

Yes. As a young widow of 6 months, I found the book helpful and will listen to specific chapters in the future, especially if I ever feel ready to date. I did not rate it 5 stars because I did not care for the book's structure of questions and answers. Also, I did not realize that "Happily Even After..." was somewhat of a sequel to the author's first book "Widows Wear Stilettos" and found the constant references to the first book and website annoying. I would recommend that any new listeners check out the first book before this one.

"A Widow's Guide to Healing" is a very helpful guide for the first 5 years of widowhood, which is written by a young widow named Kristin Meekhof and psychologist James Windell.

Doesn't Hold a Candle to the Definitive Edition

What disappointed you about The Science of Mind: The Complete Edition?

I have the "Definitive Edition" of the Science of Mind in text form, which apparently is far superior to this "Complete Edition". My guess is that there was some copyright loophole on the "Complete Edition" which made it easier to do these recordings. The structure of the concepts is incredibly more difficult to follow in this "Complete Edition" than in the Definitive Edition. That central point aside, the person who reads in the recording delivers a really distracting and rather headache-inducing performance. I can't say that having contemplative phrases basically shouted at me in a recording induced a greater sense of receptivity.

How could the performance have been better?

A more pleasant vocal timbre would have been ideal. That aside, I would have settled for someone who could correctly pronounce "omnipotence" and "circumference". By the second mispronunciation of "circumference" I decided I'd finally had enough. If you want to exploit copyrights to make a book at least hire some who can correctly pronounce the words they're trying to rip off!

You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I cannot recommend the Definitive Edition highly enough. It is an incredible book. Unfortunately there isn't an audio version available yet, and hopefully if there ever is, it won't be done by the same people.

This origin of self improvement

I read this book and I've always heard Earl Nightingale was the father of self improvement which I believed. However, after reading this book I disagree. Written in the 1920's this book gives us all the reasons why we need to shift from a self centered life to a spiritually centered life. This is where self improvement comes into play. If you read this book you will learn why you need to work on yourself to move into a more spiritually centered life. I will recommend this book book to friends.

I didn't give the book 5 stars because at times the narration went flat and needed to be a little more lively.

One of Doc's Best lectures

This is one of my favorite David R. Hawkins lectures. False Identification is the mother of all barriers in spiritual development and in this lecture Doc speaks a lot about "becoming the field" rather than trying to do something. If you want to be loving then become the field of lovingness. You identify with the field in which you revere, according to Doc. There are also parts where he gives the advice of instead of trying to fight the ego, to "adopt it as a pet" and encourage it to be what it is (Which for me makes a lot of self-judgement drop off). Also, for those of you who love the humor moments in Doc lectures, this one if packed with them. The part where he talks about Francis Crick was hilarious, and touching.

Was he drunk?

Outside of the audio being poorly produced, the speaker seemed to be drunk or high, and was definitely not prepared for the speech he was attempting to give. I couldn't finish this and it was ultimately returned.

Not what I thought it was

This book is titled wrong it's about each deficit that a child could have and how they try to treat it with medication I do not find it a very informative book on how to help a child with Aspergers cope with day-to-day life with natural ways.

AmaZing!

Wow, I wished I would had picked this book when I first heard about Aspergers. This book will help you make good decisions that will benefit you and your child. It is a Must read/listen to book.

Interesting but too reductionist in and drug based

It was an interesting book with some good info and facts.

Though overall I found it a bit too reductionist, directional and drug based to make 'life easier'. Though it is stated that drugs are not pushed but just to provide information on the different drug options, I did not feel too comfortable with the approaches outlined and sometimes was left wondering if it is more too make life easier the carers or the child.

Great book!

Awesome book filled with insight and interesting notions. The reading was also very well done.

Recommended by counselling tutor

This was on the reading list for my counselling course and I can understand why. I learnt far better from this than I would from a dry textbook. I strongly recommend it to anyone and everyone, not just counselling students and therapists. The narration is also excellent. I will certainly be listening again.

Charming introduction to counselling

What a sweet gentle tale. Toad is unhappy, and his friends Mole and Rat recommend he goes to see a counsellor Heron who they have seen advertised in the newspaper.

What follows is a lovely jaunt through the journey that is counselling.

Although this is a great intro book for anyone considering going themselves, it is also very profound and lightly touches on many models such as the parent/adult/child ego states.

Unfortunately the chap narrating this has such a lovely voice that when I listened to it in bed, I promptly fell asleep and had to rewind to a part I remembered the next day!

Excellent.

Easy to listen to and lots of interesting information. A good introduction to Transactional Analysis, I'm OK You're OK, Games people play.

An entertaining overview of counselling in practice. As a counselling student, it was interesting to hear the basic theories and concepts of counselling put into practice. Read beautifully and with just the right intonation for a humanistic counsellor. I imagine this would also appeal to those with an interest in either Wind in the Willows or an interest in the human psyche.

An advertisement for phonics

This book discusses nothing but the reading difficulties of those who are dyslexic, and then goes into phonics and how it can teach dyslexics how to read. I feel like paid for a big long advertisement! (It shouldn't be on audio books)
