    Exceptional work of business art
This book is a different perspective on how to run your business for those that are nuzzled where to start from. The book speaks all the facts in a simple and straight manner
I suggest this book to anyone taking on a turnaround job or starting a career at a new business
    I did it all
I did this, I did that, I did this, I did that, I could not finish listening to the book since the author thinks he did it all, basically by himself.... Not a lot of info in this book.

    Title: Anyone Can Do It
    Subtitle: My Story
    Author: Duncan Bannatyne
    Narrator: David Rintoul
    Format: Abridged
Length: 3 hrs and 10 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-31-07
    Publisher: Orion Publishing Group Limited
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 38 votes
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Business Leaders
    Publisher's Summary:
In this remarkable book, Bannatyne relives his colourful path to riches, from ice cream salesman to multi-millionaire, explaining how anyone could take the same route as he did, if they really want to.
Hugely articulate, and with numerous fascinating and revealing stories to tell, this is an autobiography and a business book unlike any other. But then, Bannatyne isn't like any other businessman, either.
    Members Reviews:
    Great listen!
Great inspiring story for entrepreneurs. Above all, the narrator's accent and enthusiasm while telling the story is contagious.
If you're looking for "business secrets", this is not for you. But if you want to crack up and enjoy a good tycoon story, this is light, fun, enjoyable and inspiring.
    A definite thumbs up!
    Incredibly inspiring and motivating journey!
The book is a perfect motivator for someone who loves entrepreneurship and business. More insight would definitely add value to it. Would love to see more from Duncan.
    Duncan Bannatyne - Super Hero!
I've always admired the public persona of Duncan Bannatyne, since first seeing him on 'Dragons Den', but I didn't know very much about him. I just knew he was a highly successful multi-millionaire with a straight, no-nonsense approach to everything. It's how I wanted to be. Then I bought 'Millionaire MBA' and there he was again - straight-talking, full of common-sense business advice, and a mentor from that point on, albeit at arm's length.
This superb book uncovers the compassion and real humility of the man. It's a great shame it wasn't read by him as well, as I think his great energy is understated and diluted by the narrator. Nonetheless it's a great book about a truly great British entrepreneur and an inspirational, world-class business leader. Whenever I see or hear the words 'Anyone Can Do It' I am usually very sceptical and push my wallet and credit cards deeper into my pocket as I prepare for the 'sales pitch'. This book just isn't a pitch for anything; instead it is a highly motivational, humorous and engaging story of an ordinary Brit with extraordinary drive and determination. Duncan Bannatyne could successfully convince anyone with even modest aspirations to 'go for it', to believe in themselves and the fact that 'Anyone Can Do It'. Thanks Duncan! Highly recommended.
    Extremely inspiring and very simplistic
There are 2 great aspects of this book - one is that the story of Duncan's progress is truly inspiring to the common man i.e. you and me can connect to the situations that Duncan went through, we can connect to his thought process which is no \"great shakes\" but simple logic - hence the title \"Anyone can do it\" is a perfect reflection of the message in the biography. Secondly the style in which the book has been written/read conveys the message in simple, common man language and gives you a strong adrenaline kick which urges you to start thinking about doing your own business - simply because 'anyone can do it'. Good Luck!
    A bit more detail
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
All in all it was well spent time. But I would have loved a bit more information on how he started his first businesses. It seemed very compressed to me and I heard not so much about any obstacles and troubles.

    Title: The Last Tycoons
Subtitle: The Secret History of Lazard Freres & Co.
    Author: William D. Cohan
    Narrator: David Aaron Baker
    Format: Abridged
Length: 9 hrs and 5 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 03-29-07
    Publisher: Random House Audio
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 30 votes
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Business Leaders
    Publisher's Summary:
Discretion, secrecy, and subtle strategy were its weapons of choice. For more than a century, the mystique and reputation of the "Great Men" who worked there allowed the firm to garner unimaginable profits, social cachet, and outsized influence in the halls of power. But in the mid-1980s, their titanic egos started getting in the way, and the Great Men of Lazard jeopardized all they had built.
Cohan follows Felix, the consummate adviser, as he reshapes corporate America in the 1970s and 1980s, saves New York City from bankruptcy, and positions himself in New York society and in Washington. Felix's dreams are dashed after the arrival of Steve, a formidable and ambitious former newspaper reporter. By the mid-1990s, as Lazard neared its 150th anniversary, Steve and Felix were feuding openly.
The internal strife caused by their arguments could not be solved by the imperious Michel, whose manipulative tendencies served only to exacerbate the trouble within the firm. Increasingly desperate, Michel took the unprecedented step of relinquishing operational control of Lazard to one of the few Great Men still around, Bruce Wasserstein, then fresh from selling his own M&A boutique for $1.4 billion. Bruce's take: more than $600 million. But as it turned out, Great Man Bruce snookered Great Man Michel when the Frenchman was at his most vulnerable.
    Critic Reviews:
"A competent history of Lazard, a well-written biography of Rohatyn, and an exciting insider's account of Wall Street infighting." (Publishers Weekly)
    Members Reviews:
Gossipy, shallow; but with limited virtue
I was dismayed. I liked other works by this author. Here was an opportunity to map out a structure of these talented people networking, climbing, digging into the lattices of this massive corporate economy and culture at top levels, yet oddly, in the manner of old fashioned merchant bankers. Instead, we hear plenty of these haughty continental type fellows as if suddenly vaulted to some high in-group club which is itself only sketchily portrayed. Then the mutual sniping and titillating parts start. This cries out for more substantive detail. We hear plenty about every superficial aspect of the culture, such as the backward (or merely continental?) barbaric approach to many of the women working there. (Grotesque, making me happy I'm not there, even now.) OK, this is a valid part of the sociological descriptive approach, but hey, this is a book on banks, a finance work, not a brothel or a work of titillation. Or is it? A little is okay, but it this level of stuff can't carry the story at all. Ditto for the media wars surroundilng the infighting. There is mild utility to learning this, as it is a feature of NYC finance and power games, OK. It did feature into the story. Again, I differ with the author's weighting of these aspects as a driver of the book. If this kind of snipy muck (some might see Shakespearean tragedy, but I would say, without the pacing and soaring language; more conducive to needing an air sickness bag) satisfies the target audience, well, congrats to the author and publishers. I am a big finance book consumer, but apparently not this target audience. (I compare "High Financier" by N. Ferguson which had some similar features but gave me a better feel for the core of the matter: the deals being done, the challenges bested.

    Entrepreneur's Support Group
This is a good book. No revelations but mostly what I would consider an Entrepreneur's support group. Yes, there are items for those wanting to own their own business but the resounding wisdom is discovered when you too are a serial entrepreneur!
    Great Book!
This should be required reading for all entrepreneurs! I have read dozens of business books and recently graduated from a top business school and I can honestly say that I did not come across any authors/profs that give you the inside look and practical, applicable knowledge that is essential for entrepreneurs to succeed the way that Stuart Skorman does. I HIGHLY recommend this book!
Good book, narration is a little dry
As a budding entrepreneur I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the book. It was great validation and encouragement for some of the experiences I've had in my nascent entrepreneurial career.
One shouldn't be dissuaded by the mixed reviews from those looking for a "how-to" book. I think the book delivers just as advertised. It's a "confession". To me it's less how-to and more "Chicken-soup for the Entrepreneurial Soul".
    Uninspired
This book may be helpful to High school student interested in business, but if you have any experience in the real world it lacks substance. Just as things start to get interesting he changes the subject.
It feels like the author is holding back.
Great learning from a well experienced entrepreneur!!
Great learning and advice from both successes & failures, but more importantly - the lesson! Very insipiring, but at the same time very realistic and applicable! Love it!

    Publisher's Summary:
In this encore to his classic 1987 unauthorized biography of Steve Jobs (Steve Jobs: The Journey is the Reward), Jeffrey Young examines Jobs' remarkable resurgence, one of the most amazing business comeback stories in years.
Lightning never strikes twice, but Steve Jobs has. Transforming modern culture first with the Macintosh and now the iPod, he's also dazzled and delighted audiences with his Pixar movies. And along the way, he's bedeviled, destroyed, and demoralized hundreds of people. Ten years after the leading maverick of the computer age and the king of digital cool crashed from the height of Apple's meteoric rise, Steve Jobs rose from the ashes in a Machiavellian coup, and has now become more famous than ever.
    Critic Reviews:
"One of the most captivating business biographies of recent years. Young and Simon have done a masterful job." (Ft. Worth Star-Telegram)
"A fascinating tale of an imaginative genius." (BookPage)

Steve Jobs History painted with a wide brush
I saw in a previous review that someone said it must have struck home as it was removed from I-Tunes downloads of books. This isn't true, or as of last look it is back up there. Yet I found the reader a riveting voice. The facts got me up to speed on stuff I did not know about (but left out lots of stuff I did know) hence me saying it is a history book painted in wide swaths, covering the large areas but avoiding some of the more interesting minute' of Steve's Character. The book does not paint Steve as a very nice man. It also paints him as somewhat lucky in his success. In the end the book begrudgingly gives Steve some cudos and even voices some 'he's become a better human being due to his current wife and becoming a father'. So I would look at this book for it's 'not through rose colored glasses' appeal to get a perspective on Steve Jobs and take the 'tone' of the book with a grain of salt.
    Review of an Expert
This book is a highlight among so many books that purport to outline the hard work and tenacity that is required to make it in business.
This book highlights how you also need to be just a little 'quirky' to cut the grass before your competitors get onto the scene.
A great read (Listen) and worth the time.
    Very enjoyable
I do not normally go for biographies but seeing this on a clients desk led me to search for it on audible. It was excellent and shows a balanced view of Steve Jobs the person.
    Great narration
The narrator has a calm and pleasant voice and the audio quality is excellent.
The story itself is captivating and give an interesting insight into the background of Steve Jobs.
    mis abridged
    very wrongly abridged!

In a time of sweeping media change, the four major networks struggle for the attention of American viewers increasingly distracted by cable, video games, and the Internet. Behind boardroom doors, tempers flare in the search for hit shows, which often get on the air purely by accident.
The fierce competition creates a pressure-cooker environment where anything can happen.

    How Sausage is Made
You have to be really be interested in corporate intrigue and the entire creative/business process to stick with this title. But for me, it was fascinating. How did three of the most recent TV hits --Desperate Housewives, American Idol and Lost -- ever get created? And how did highly paid executives MISS these hits in the development phase? Dean Olsher (confession, a former colleague) does a fine narration job. TV is an odd business of luck, talent, egos and score settling. Not a bad idea for a TV show...oops, it already exists on NBC!
    Interesting
It delivers on the history of TV networks, but discounts the effects of the Internet and other forms of media and entertainment on its decline in recent years.
    Fascinating
This behind the scenes look into the television industry is humorous, informative, and riveting. Focusing on recent breakout hits such as CSI, Desperate Housewives, Lost, and American Idol, the author demonstrates an affinity for the subject, and his tales of the machinations behind the curtains of the major broadcast networks proves William Goldman's adage, "Nobody knows anything." The book mainly discusses the period from 1999-2004, so if you're looking for something on the history of broadcasting, this isn't it. But if you'd like to hear more about how the television industry has been changing in recent years, check it out.
    Threadbare storyline but juicy details
Fans of The Late Shift will be sorely disappointed in this rambling, pointless look at the race for ratings in the mid aughts.
    An Informative Look
This was an interesting look into the workings of the big networks and how they build their programming. Considering the recent Jay/Conan debacle, it's fascinating to read especially considering the short portion of a chapter that covers the switch-over from Leno to O'Brien. It's interesting to see how truly lucky these network executives are, despite the fact that they believe they are very skilled. Regarding other reviews indicating the fast pace is hard to follow, I didn't find that to be the case. It might be challenging if you're writing a research paper on the topic, but as a casual read you'll have no difficulty.

    Deutsch is cool!
Having only first heard of Deutsch from the Apprentice last year, then his CNBC show shortly after, I found myself wanting to hear more about how he got started. The book is very good for anyone interested in hearing what Deutsch has to say. He's smart, creative and innovative. The reader does a great job - sounds just like Donny. Basically, he goes into his life in some detail, how he got started, his first big account, things he did wrong, his philosophy for doing things a certain way. I'd say it was inspiring somewhat. Not overwhelmingly inspiring, he doesn't give you tips on how to be successful or anything like that - just his way of doing things and his outlook on life.
He is a Liberal, But Darn Good Book!!
Donny Deutch is a fascinating individual who gives readers a keen insight into how he built and managed an advertising empire! He is an outspoken liberal but is strangely enough a strong capitalist!
    In my top five books!
This is a must have, every time I go through I find another nugget of useful information.
    could have been
Donny Deutsch has a wonderful story to tell and for the most part does a good job except for the foul language. The crude language was not necessary and takes away from any inspiration that could have been communicated. I am a fan of great people and leaders. Donny's insecurities illustrate that he is not one of them.
