Fun Book

I love books. This book was a great read and once you get started, it really is hard to put down. The book is often witty. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. This debut author has a promising future ahead of her. I know I am reading a good story when I can't wait to get back to it, over and over, reading much to long into the night. Our grandchildren love when we read fairy tales at quiet time or bedtime. They love to even read to us! This is a great way to help a child learn to read and get the passion to read, especially if you are a reader yourself!

I would highly recommend this book to any friends or family looking to buy it. So I would for sure recommend to anyone in the general public to buy this book.

~~ Stubborn flowers ~~

Flora's best friends are Aquatica, Nocturna and Primavera. Together these fairies lives in a magical forest. Each of the four fairies has a special job. Flora's job is to make the flowers grow. It is now May and so the flowers are supposed to be blooming. This year though, they are grumbling about not wanting to "stand up in the sun and rain all summer long". Can the moon help Flora? What is his advice to her?

This is a well-written and illustrated short story for independent readers or as a read aloud to younger children. Plenty of colorful pictures accompany the text. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Love Fairies!

We loved all of your fairy books. I write children's books too! Glad to read a fellow authors books!

Nice story, poor illustrations

A nice little story. Shame the pictures are very basic and boring. 3.5 stars (rounding up as I'm in a good mood). With some decent illustrations, this would make a great bed-time story.

Erica's writing

I liked this story because Flora Aquatica and her other friends had all special talents. I didn't disliked it because there is fairy's in the book.

The narrator does a great job introducing the different characters

My four-year-old loves this audio book. It came with two language versions: German and English, even though we thought it was only German. The narrator does a great job introducing the different characters, and by now my daughter can recognize them by listening to the different melodies. Wonderful audiobook that introduces the kids to Sergej Prokofjew's classic master piece.

I accidentally bought this book for my 8 year old thinking it was free. We read it together while camping. It's a cute book. At least my daughter had to try to read the big dinosaur words.

cute little story.....

This one is a fun little story about different dinosaurs. The images and text are very nice. I particularly liked the fact that kids could learn the names of all the main dinosaurs while still enjoying a cute little rhyming story.

Great for learning German!

Full of exciting plot twists, this book took me on a journey following the crazy adventures of Laura on her first day of Kindergarten. It really puts life into perspective.

In all seriousness, this is a great book/series if you're a beginner at German and want some extra practice/vocabulary. I had a lot more fun deciphering this book than I've had with any school textbook.

Title: Mean Margaret

Author: Tor Seidler

Narrator: Simon Jones

Format: Unabridged

Length: 2 hrs and 53 mins

Language: English

Release date: 03-03-15

Publisher: Simon & Schuster Audio

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 2 votes

Genres: Kids, Ages 0-4

Publisher's Summary:

Unconditional kindness is the key in this National Book Award finalist from the author of The Wainscott Weasel about nontraditional families, adoption, love - and a little peace and quiet.

Margaret is a mean, cranky human toddler from a family of nine. She is such a pain that her beleaguered parents chuck her out, and she's on her own, grousing and grumping until two caring woodchucks, Phoebe and Fred, take Margaret in as their own. But despite their love, Margaret continues to wreak havoc with her loud, destructive ways, ruining the burrow and shrieking nonstop. Soon the woodchucks are as beleaguered as Margaret's human parents were, but because love is more powerful than temper tantrums, they are determined to make it work. So they enlist a little unconventional help, and with the guidance of a snake, bats, and a skunk, their feral little human just might realize there's more to life than being mean.

Five Stars

If you haven't read this book yet, no matter your age, you should. It's hilarious!

like this story

It arrived promptly and was just as expected. Thank You

more is redundant, more is redundant, more is redundant, more.....

A tender, humorous fantasy with a good social message.

I have been a school librarian for over 20 years and would rate this one tops in its appeal as a read-aloud for third graders. I especially appeciated the way it showed how family is created - the gradual movement away from self-centeredness to mutual caring and support. I found it a tender, funny book, and so did the kids.

Touching, Heartwarming & Witty!

Reason for Reading: I've read one previous book by this author and since I enjoyed it was looking forward to reading another of his books.

I'm not sure "Mean Margaret" is actually the best title for this book as Margaret is not the main character, nor is the story really about her, but she is indeed the antagonist. The book concerns Fred, a woodchuck, and his search for a mate. His eventual marriage to the woodchuck Phoebe brings up the talk of children, which Phoebe loves and Fred hates, putting her off with lame excuses the next day they find a human child outside their burrow. Sally, renamed Margaret by the woodchucks, is the ninth child of the Hubble's, a fat lazy couple with progressively ruder and wilder children. Toddler Sally takes the cake though and no one but a mother could love her. Sharing room with siblings 6, 7, & 8, they plot to drop her off far away in the woods one night to hopefully never have to contend with her again. Such then, is the story of how Phoebe takes in this mannerliness, self-centred child to look after and care for and love as only a mother can love. Along with Fred and Phoebe are a cast of their animal friends including Skunk, Snake, Squirrel, Mr & Mrs Bat & Phoebe's sister with her own three young children. The story mainly takes place amongst the animals in the forest but does switch to the human Hubble family a few times.

This is a lovable, dear comedy where nearly everyone learns a life lesson by the end of the book. Fred and Phoebe are wonderful animal characters and anyone who enjoys this type of animal fantasy will certainly like this book. There are most definitely touches of Roald Dahl in Seidler's humour as his dark humour is laced with a witty meanness that makes this as much a fun read for adults as children.

MUCH SHORTER THAN DESCRIBED

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would make it longer

Would you recommend The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas to your friends? Why or why not?

No. in the detail it says this book is 9 minutes long. Really it is 4 minutes, and then there is a second reading of the book that is a read along. I don't own the book so it is only 4 minutes long for me. It was starting out to be a good story..... and then it was over.

Have you listened to any of Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no

Did The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas inspire you to do anything?

no

Any additional comments?

My 4 year old loves that the story is about poop! He has none of my dis like for the time.
