Adorable Book About Adjustment and Change
My son, now 30 months, has loved this book for a year now. My husband and I love it, too, which is important if you're going to get asked to read a book over and over!
The story, as others have written, is about how two dogs have to adjust to a new baby in the house. (If you have dogs and children, this will really hit home!) Of course the dogs' have had a decrease in attention from mom and dad and aren't quite sure what to think of this little person. Sure enough, however, eventually things around the house get back to normal for this funny canines and, (not so) surprisingly they find themselves feeling protective of this "new animal." I believe this book would also be a good choice for a sibling expecting a new little brother or sister (or after the little sibling has already arrived).
Another reviewer mentioned "disturbing details." Ha! First, dogs bite things. Is this news? So yes, one of the dogs asks, "can I bit it, just a _little_ bit?" The other dog says no and that's the end of that. Also, yes, the dogs in the story briefly discuss "burying" the baby in the back yard. They do not. Dogs bury things, including things they _like_ and want to hide/save/protect. These 'concerns' are misguided in my opinion, but certainly if this frightens you then this book is not for you.

A True Gem
My kids love this charming story told from the perspective of the family dogs. We read it repeatedly and still get plenty of belly laughs. As a Mom I appreciate the layers in the story and the overarching message of acceptance and rolling with changes in life.

Great condition. This is a great book for any family with dogs or a new baby or both. My 5-year-old has brought it home from his school library at least 10 times this year. :)
