"Everybody talks about the weather, but can't do anything about it!"
Beautiful and vivid illustration create the growing excitement of cause and effect to sheer panic of an out of control situation. The Rain Came Down is a wonderful gem of a book where everyone is affected by the drenching rain. Cars stop, horns honk, food is not delivered, leaks ruin cakes, fights start, all because people are obsessing about the weather. Police come and while attempting to unravel the snarled mess, the sun arrives and rescues the mob of malcontents. Peace is restored and we learn that no matter how tumultuous our lives are, how out of control we feel, the sun WILL come out and you will get your life back. I love this book. David Shannon is a genius!

David Shannon has such a unique style. Sometimes his art can be very crude looking, but I actually liked the artwork in this book better than his No David! books. This book is great for teaching Cause and Effect or explaining chain reactions. You will laugh at all the crazy things that happen one after the other just because it all started raining.
Five Stars
My son is in kindergarten and loves this book. It is heavily in rotation during our reading time.
Requested as a "Read to me Nana book"
Funny and interesting to see expressions and get questions from my 5 and 3 year old granddaughters. They both want the book read all the time.
